Question to the BG guys, we’ve seen a lot of Nine Dragon back on SoR past day, are those the ones that didn’t transfer over yet or did they transfer back?

Queues are a good thing in my book. Means you have a lot of people excited and willing to play. It’s something we really needed. Certainly beats instaqueue and outmanned buffs everywhere

It is true that you guys from SoS, JQ and BG are discussing here over your current encounter but, at the some time, many visitors who are still undecided where to stay after 28’th are serching for the clue also in this thread. I do not mean to harm your community in any way, I am just giving an opption to consider. ….though I know it looks like a salesman’s job … brrrr

Your post was still incredibly off topic though. It would be more on topic in the threads about joining SoS/JQ/BG. However it would still be incredibly inappropriate.

Not gonna happen. Unless JQ mass recruit skilled oceanics and do blackouts for the next month getting them in, they’re gonna lose every week to the superior oceanic forces of SoS.
JQ pull ahead only in euro timezones, around noon central. But thats it. Also when RG move away again, and when PRX move again when they lose (confirmed as being considered), then its 2nd place at best for JQ.

JQ has more potential than SoS atm, we on SoS are trying to stop JQ from stomping over everyone at the moment. We barely have enough numbers during NA time to stop them due to all those lovely new guilds they have acquired.

PRX and SF are fighting on the SoS BL’s, with a RG zerg charging around. BG with their limited numbers are welcome to come to SoS BL’s and take the southern keeps and Supply depots off JQ hands.

Unfortunately SoS can’t field a team on every BL. We just have to hold out as long as possible until our larger Oceanic teams arrive.

We don’t have many aussies, but we already have a crap ton of SEA presence with additional guilds coming in. We are currently losing a lot of points because we have so many blackouts to bring all the people in, not because we can’t hold them when we actually have people there.

Our’s are on a much larger scale trust me on that We have to compensate for a lot more PvE’ers (Keep in Mind JQ was the first server to fill up on release and also the most PvE heavy server left)

This is a common problem on all T1 servers. It’s not as bad as it use to be with the server transfers.

4 maps is just too much IMHO. It was fine when the game came out because you had plenty of guilds to assign to each map.

This is entirely true if that’s how the server is run but on JQ where we invite everyone to the Community TS we have a lot more pug’s and what not or non guilded coming into our ts which helps us a lot

All three servers play well when they have at least competitive numbers online. I am proud of how SoS learns quickly from others and adapts but I am guilty of becoming annoyed when we fail to learn obvious lessons….

Keep trying BG, you are facing two very good opponents and can be proud of holding your own in this three sided battle.

To be honest JQ can be a brutal opponent ( meant as a compliment ) and if you can hold rating or even take first/second place you will have achieved much.

I find this very unlikely that you have a confirmed newsflash of PRX considering to jump ship after this week.
The ammount of coordination and teamwork between JQ and PRX going on right now to get them all in is way to big and strong for that.

I know it is the job of any SoS/BG player to do whatever to disrupt JQ morale, but do it with more credible things then.

It is actually not the job of any gamer to break the morale of the other two servers. For myself, I need the other two teams in whatever tier I am in to continue to login and enjoy.

Otherwise the whole thing breaks down and we are all off to a new game.

We don’t have pugs on JQ, we have a community of players with a community TS. In WvW its like having one big guild. Honestly Coron, you should come and experience it. Why don’t you transfer for a week and holiday over here. I am sure your guild will be able to manage without you for a week

I honestly think what’s hurting Blackgate and stopping them from getting these big Xfers was all the forum warrior kitten-talk done all those months ago, and again recently before their second jump to T1. It wasn’t done by any big name or respectable guilds, but done by the overzealous guys who troll forums more than they WvW. Would you bring your top-tier guild to a server that trashed talked and then couldn’t deliver?

Allow me to correct your misconceptions about Blackgate. What hurt Blackgate was the “forum-warrior” “kitten-talk” done against us. In our first week of T1, shortly into the matchup, an individual ‘hacked’ one of the orbs of power. Note I said individual. This is key. The entire server did not ‘hack’ an orb. One player did. This is something that most folks we were playing against could not seem to grasp.

Then the smear campaign started. At the time, our guilds were using strategy that T1 guilds had not seen at that point. Turtling/portal bombs, etc. Things that are now considered normal strategy. The problem was, nobody in T1 had apparently seen these tactics used before. When they saw a mesmer portal used properly, players immediately flocked to the forums claiming that those strategies were hacks and exploits. Our first week in T1, every single day multiple threads were created claiming that Blackgate had hacked something else, when clearly we had not. A few days into the matchup, we lost multiple guilds because they were tired of all the unfounded hate. A few of our larger WvW guilds transferred to SOS at that time.

You guys recall that bug that would occur when the orb carrier would drop the orb so another player could pick it up, and the orb’s location would disappear from the map? We on Blackgate certainly do. That itself was a source of roughly 20 different threads over the span of 3 days started by SBI players who didn’t understand that what they were seeing was the result of a bug. Something that no player from any side had any control over. SBI and JQ had apparently never had a mesmer hide inside of a base and wait out patrols, so they could portal in a group of people to retake the base, which is a common strategy now, and why base sweeps are considered mandatory.

Every day for weeks, anyone who came to the forums saw multiple threads titled things like “Blackgate hacks again” “Blackgate is a server of cheaters” “Blackgate steals orb” “Blackgate mesmer exploits Bay”. Some of those threads still exist on the forums, if you look far back enough, you can find them.

So, person I’m quoting: Blackgate did not ruin its reputation. Other people did that for us. Most of the folks who tried to talk sense into the mindless masses and present the facts of the situation had their posts reported and removed. I have personally received 17 forum infractions for trying to defend my server. The problem of the entire situation was that nobody bothered to let the facts get in the way of their opinions. I see that you are doing the exact same thing.

Karma always wins in the end. Look at SBI and all of their “forum warriors” now. They’ll be lucky to stay in T2 for more than another week before they drop to T3.

Actually I think most of those SBI “forum warriors” are still in T1, those that aren’t joined that other server that is well known for its forum warriors that looks like it will be heading to T1 soon.

Still, you’re right about the successfulness of those smear campaigns. I saw a very similar thing happen to GOM.

Seriously, I was beginning to think I was the ONLY one who remembers how BG’s last tier 1 match up went down. There was a reason why BG started doing terrible mid week where we lost lead. People stopped playing because of the following situation:

- BG Won = hackers.
- BG Lost = they suck.

So in the eyes of the majority of the guilds what was the point of even trying? Either way they would be scorned and looked down upon on the forums.

Guess what happened? BG comes in third place and the forum warriors come out in full suit to further brag about how they beat “beast gate” so badly, and they were all talk, blah blah. When in reality, majority of our guilds completely stopped playing in order to drop down a tier.

That is in the past though. This thread has grown in maturity since than.

Awesome (EU) night for us. The lighter we got, the better the fights became.

We can rip off these scarlet letters now. If there’s anything that has been proven true about Blackgate, it is that it is a tenacious server. It has survived an exodus, smear campaigns and troop attritions, and clawed it’s way back to T1 on multiple occasions.

It’s very unfortunate because some of you guys are excellent opponents on the field. But in this case, the masses of unknown have potentially ruined it for you guys. Something else could be that a lot of players have as Kurthos would say “gotten fat” from sitting around steamrolling T2 for so long. The same thing happened to JQ and SBI when SoS first came into T1, they had easy wins against dissolved HoD and ET servers with the only other competitors being BG and IoJ (the latter of which proved to barely be T2 capable). So when we (SoS) came in, we didn’t just raise the roof, we blew the whole kitten house up.

Its probably pretty easy in hindsight to also dwell overly much on any negatives, but people have to remember this isn’t a business where if an employee starts getting slanderous or stupid in public… we can’t exactly ‘sack’ them! Lot of any dumb comments are made by nobodies with just a user name and there’s not exactly an inquisition of people with the spare time to spend chastising trolls hiding under some sense of anonymity.

Like most WvW communities, I guess the dynamic is around 80% of the work is done by a very small percentage of the population. There’s huge guilds of people running around whacking mobs, getting shiny objects, cash and that’s all they do
Then there’s the wvw guilds made up of maybe 1000 or so people, that just spend their time punching tickets, taking assets, escorting and defending.
(You all should know us guys by now, you see us up there letting off fireworks, trollin’ your noobs, door open in the tower… and some of you just keep walking now. Dunno why, free keep n all)

That is the BG core WvW alliance, the people started on day one and our early transfers that never left- they, will never give up regardless of any score, or got fat from easy wins- which hold any other server together because ‘we fight for Blackgate’.

People can say all they want about the negatives.. but the counter, actual example to that is-
A great many more temporarily successful and very popular servers went spiraling down the crapper
Many ‘popular and good’ guilds tapped out, some ran off crying to other tiers when things got too tough…
“Blackgate” was still hanging in there.
Pride and Guts.
That is why Blackgate, is still here now.
That is why Blackgate will more than likely still be some kind of a major force in a few months time, regardless of who does/doesn’t transfer.

Looking on a long enough timeline, March might see a make or break more than anything else for servers, depending on how well Anet interprets its player needs/wants in the WvW ‘investment’ in February.
That’s when servers learn like we did in DAOC, to develop their organic people assets when there was no actual transfers.
If they get it right, there’s a huge human resource to tap into of people that like wvw, but they don’t like doing it because they essentially go broke buying siege and upgrades, with pretty much nil gear development from spending all their time there.
If they get it wrong, well, that’s a whole other death knell and not just for us.

Spot on. I am from SOR and dealt with SOS back in the day. You guys were nothing but class. BG however, wow! BG had so many forum warriors posting hourly garbage during their stay at T2 it will only give the server a bad name.

I dig underdogs too. But JQ is our first server, and our first love, and SoS is my favorite opponent server.

Too many horses in this race. Quite frankly, all 3 servers are have their strengths and weaknesses but are worth rooting for in different ways.
