Some friends and I were shopping around for a new server and SoS was one of our choices but now I’m hearing things about all the guilds leaving to go to T1 servers.

Anyone know what’s going on? Why are all the guilds leaving? Where are they going?

Does this mean Gold League is gonna have 2 (!!) dead servers in it?

SoS is a fairly dead server now.. It’s 4th over-all but the gap between 3 and 4 should be reflected as 400 glicko.. not 60.

A ton of guilds jumped ship to T1 since the tier was dead for fights/gvg’s and even more are leaving the server. Gold league is going to be fairly boring for seasons since it could of been a 4 way server brawl.. Now it’s just a 3 way server brawl with a dead week.

We’ll be fine, just lost a few guilds but we can handle it, could use some more people though to fight against those Fort Aspendwood’s mega blobs. Ha

ANET should just toss SoS into T1 match up once in a while. that’s the only way variety of match ups among top 5 (rank) servers can be achieved.

Looks like we are very lucky to have language specific server in EU as this seem to hinder concentration a bit.

Probably it would be a good idea to remove the top 3 server such that the people have to redistribute again.

That isn’t even what happened. SoS didn’t have any less of a turn out during T1 weeks of S2. It just didn’t look like it on the scorecard because they were still a fair way off being the right size to compete for T1. Added to most of the guilds weren’t even actively ppting during T1 weeks because it was a fruitless endeavour. As far as “fairweathering out” goes, isn’t that what 95% of the player base of your precious server did?

I’m sure JQ wouldn’t really care less if SoS did end up going into T1 post S2. TC were too busy in damage control to stop from falling apart (even if they wouldn’t have fallen far anyway), and BG was too busy with playing big brother and focusing JQ because they didn’t want 2 T1.5 servers kicking about i.e TC and SoS. Which would have put us into a far worse of a situation then we are in now.

SoS is definitely not dead (they’re currently ticking 445.) The T2 matchup is a mess right now because Mag doesn’t exist at all and SoS and FA have different peak hours. So from what I hear a couple SoS guilds bailed out of boredom. They still have a huge number of players though.

Last season JQ/TC decided that they would bully BG… Who knows if this will happen again, or if JQ will be the one bullied this time.

Only time will tell…

all sos guilds transfer to t1 only go there for fights,they dont care any t1 ppt kitten i can confirm.

SoS lost a ton of NA recently, sure it’s not “Dead” but it’s not exactly strong anymore. If you removed the amount of ppt SoS gets from OCX/SEA they would be losing the current matchup.

The problem is, SoS doesn’t have any guilds running on a daily basis during OCX because they have nothing to fight, It’s mostly all pugs.

Sos have never been a “fights” server anyway. They were ppt.

as far as i know SEA/OCX players rarely move servers especially if the guilds are PvX/PvDoor.

Except before leaving they broke the moral of FA + Mag’s OCX coverage with massive mindless blobs (If you log OCX Prime these blobs are drastically smaller now, almost size of a T3-T4 server. Probably due to the fact there are no fights still.)

So yeah even in the Tourny SoS is going to be a weaker competitor then S2 based on its OCX coverage disbanding and spreading out…

This demoralizing was done by late NA guilds, not OCX, we just bore the blame and the effects of it, and we havent left yet, please learn facts beforespeaking out your kitten

Last I looked we had the highest score of any server in NA, were ticking +390 in NA time after reaching about +650 last night in OCX time.

I would call Mags an implosion.

I am looking forward to next week (personally i hope we get to see JQ or TC).

I lol’d. If you just pay attention to reset, you see the actual balance of the tier:

SoS ticks about 120-180 usually, since Mag tends to have 30-40 on a single tag in MagBL every reset, FA tends to control at least half of Mag’s third in EB and usually much of SoSBL, and SoS sometimes caps SMC to push themselves above 150 PPT.

Bit by bit, SoS creeps toward the base ~225 tick until around 3 a.m. EST, when FA guilds start to log and the SoS late PST groups start omega rushing or trebbing every hostile T2+ objective. By 4 a.m., most objectives except the T3 keeps have been flipped by two 25-30+ SoS groups, and by 5 a.m. the SoS OCX swarms have arrived.

I’ve stayed up a few times to 6-7 a.m. EST on a long night, and the OCX PvD is stronk. By that time, they tend to be trying to take FA/Mag Gari (after capping all of EB and the rest of the BLs) with 40-50+ pug blobs, using poor siege tactics but usually getting in due to mass PvD.

On reset, they can sometimes be held off until SEA comes on. Sometimes FA SEA holds them off, sometimes not. By Sunday night though, our numbers have dwindled and theirs have lost equal numbers, but that still leaves them with 30+ every night/morning.

Truly, their server and PPT is led by PST tryhards who paper most things against scant resistance in the wee hours, and their OCX logs on to everything papered and an easy ktrain.

With a 3rd server in the mix, they can’t do nearly as much damage, as they’re able to focus down one server with only 2 servers active in the match-up. Truly, S3 will be a rude awakening for SoS.

Their EU/NA already struggles against FA, and their late PST/OCX/SEA have their first rough time in a long time. They won’t have their fairweather ktrain pugs to lean upon either, and they’ll be rusty from having no fights for months after Mag’s implosion and FA’s OCX demoralization via daily blobbing.

Need to de-blob a bit in EB and spread some numbers to other BLs. Maybe you have a shortage of NA pugmanders, but a single blob in EB is reallyyy inefficient at controlling the map.

It was a shame to see such a divide, as I think that FA would have preferred to have TC back down in T2. If there’d been consensus on your T1 push, then at least you’d have stood a chance to switch spots and prove your PPT-worth in T1.

TC/FA/Mag would have been a much more balanced match, as our peak times are the same. Granted, TC is much larger than both Mag and FA, but their recent low point was before they started receiving significant transfers from T2 and beyond.

Having different peak times is just a recipe for disaster and timed implosion. It’s a race to see whose peak is affected first.

Yep i agree with this completely, matchups wont ever be preoperly balanced with a server such as SoS, DB, CD, or IoJ

FA have always been the biggest weekend server in comparison to the SoS/Mag/FA days. Even went toe-to-toe with TC. FA pugs ride the ppt as hard or harder then TC when they were in T2. Reset is a terrible time to measure balance of the 2 servers. Friday nights for America is always more favourable for FA due to the sheer amount of casuals and PvEers compared to SoS. None of the guilds on SoS, even the ppt guilds, take resets remotely seriously. Whereas you see multiple map queues of FA humping tower and keeps all night all weekend. It has nothing to do with skill or balance. It is purely the time of week and time of day for players. The usual Oceanic+SEA week day player base doesn’t play resets because it happens at 10am Saturdays. You can’t just take away the SoS numbers advantage and leave FA’s there, and then look at the first 5 hours of a match to base any sort of state of the tier picture. Some FA commander telling SoS to de-blob? Lol’d.

If there are still people having a tantrum over who killed the tier, blame it on the American guilds on SoS that had no interest on moving to T1 when they had the chance, and probably should have taken it. It was a choice between a rock and a hard place, and all the GvG transfers with no server loyalty decided they had more of a right to be on the server then the people who got it there. The GvG scene killed the GvG scene. The Australian and to a lesser extent the SEA guilds have had seldom anyone to fight or even anything to cap at all in the last 4+ weeks prior to Mags implosion.

Ironically, half of those very guilds have since moved to T1 or quit anyway, and the post PST tryhards who waited until 11pm to golem rush everything for weeks on end don’t even do that anymore. Since the implosion word has gotten out and mindless zerglings have appeared to take advantage of the situation. Soon, they are going to come up against some stiff resistance and they will all go back to FGS after the first couple of days of T1. It happened with FA after HoD imploded and they had blowout scores every week, then subsequently went disappeared after a couple of shorts weeks against SoS.

DR post is spot on though. With even just a little bit more non prime coverage they could challenge for Silver champion. As it is now though they can’t win the week because no coverage.

I’ve seen screenshots on the PvF forums and elsewhere (none of my own) of SoS having 2-3 queues on reset for the first hour at least on reset. FA hasn’t had more than one queue at any point in the week for over a month. Usually just FABL when there’s a call-out, or when the fights are all concentrated there.

Before Mag’s collapse, the SoS and Mag fight guilds would consistently go to FABL because they knew there’d be good fights there, so FABL tended to get a queue then too.

Now though? One queue at the very peak of NA for a few minutes in FABL, usually leading to Outnumbered in EB.

SoS is just inefficient due to blobbing with their numbers in NA, I assume due to lack of pugmanders and concentrations of pugs on those few tags displayed, as I stated previously.

SoS did shed some guilds that were just not getting any fights from FA and with Maguuma having lost most of their active guilds, the current matchup was nothing but tedium from them.

SoS is a very healthy server, and all this change has done is change the matches from complete blowouts, to a more competitive matchup; especially in the late EU and NA timezones.

Haha nice recruitment message, as if SoS needs more players to make the T2 matches even more unbalanced.

I’m only offering contact info for people who may be looking at transferring to us; and even took the extra step of informing folks that they might not want to join during FA’s weak periods.
We certainly have no desire to stack off-hours only wish to offer your North and South American members the most competitive matchup possible. We can’t do much to change the casual nighttime population’s activities so we might as well make things as interesting as possible when people on FA are playing.

They came on in the middle of night their time for the servers weak time. So for jq which is NA, tc is ocx or sea. And bg is same.
