Grievance [GVNC] – Our drunken WvW is the kitten
Devona’s Rest – Forever Outnumbered & Kittened upon by Anet
(edited by qualm like a bomb.6512)
Had what I thought was a great idea. I may be biased so I thought maybe some could give some feeback. My idea to hit both the population imbalance issue (AKA server stacking) and the Kitteny league that we will have to endure for 7+ weeks are below. Let me know you thoughts on this, why it would be good and what is kitteny about it. You won’t hurt my feelings I play a ranger on Devona’s RestHome. So have at it.
So a solution that they could use to frame this league thing and help better balance out the server population discrepancy. Why not form teams from the leagues that use total points from all three servers to count towards a combination score? This makes sense to help even out populations between high tier and low tier servers knowing that their overall score is tied into the lower tiers as well.
The weekly score would be a composite of each member of the team. We would still have 3 golds, 3 silvers and 3 bronze servers for the league.
This would make the stack less likely to occur, and would mix things up from season to season. Also the pairings would provide incentive for Higher tiers to help coach or even transfer to middle and lower servers. The formula would also reduce stacking as it would be difficult to gauge a definite winner given all of the factors.
I know that it is just an idea I had, so I am sure if the great minds at anet get a hold of it they could definitely tweak this someway (or find a way to strip of us our cash in the process, I am not on their payroll so I will not be given them any of those great ideas here either) . Is there any reason a format like this would be horrible? It can’t be worse than the 7 weeks of spawn camping most of us have in front of us now.

That was funny. I actually really did lol.
As for your idea. Anet is going to have to do something like this eventually. Either this or merge servers.
So i provide the key to making leagues interesting, without making server stack a huge issue, and the one comment I get is in regards to my poor sense of humor….
This plan is pure genius, find some holes in it, people.
i doubt we will see any major relevant changes soon, it seems that anet is trying to guide people to do things with super rare items , than making the best of what people really want to do. They are trying to guide the flow rather than going with it.
i’m quite sure there is someone saying "we can’t do x because then they won’t do y – which is what we want. "

Since GW2 doesn’t have a monthly fee, players can’t show their disgust by quitting in droves as the latter will get the attention of the developers quickly.
That said, there is no incentive for anet to change a thing. The announcement of leagues good or bad has only increased individual players and whole guilds transferring. Notice Anet also announced a recent sale on transfers so they want you to move as it allows further revenue for a free 2 play game. If anything D. Carver should be given a well deserved raise or bonus this X-mas for helping fill Anet’s coffers with his “League” idea.
- would be paired with #12 and #24 = team 1 ; #2 would be paired with #11 and #23 = team 2; #3 would be paired with #10 and #22 = team 3 (and so on…)
Well if you continue this setup, so 4 + 9 + 21 / 5 + 8 + 20 / 6 + 7 + 19
server 13 to 18 have no team.
You would need to start at 1 +16 + 24 / 2 + 15 + 23 …
I think the one thing that everyone knows (with maybe the exception of ANET) is that they can’t just run leagues with the existing scoring.
The only way to make this league somewhat exciting is to implement your idea or some other idea. There needs to be a change though.
I also think matchups should only run for half a week, but that’s a conversation for another day.

See my suggestion here : https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/wuv/wuv/How-to-Fix-Population-Imbalance/first#post3015734
It could be done in 1 week and fix 90% of the population imbalance problem.
Yes! and thank you for a well done video. I don’t ever see guesting as being a viable wvw option, but the first part of the video illustrates much of what I was thinking when developing this idea. Teams to mix it up some, reduce the stacking, and keep things interesting.
Doh, to the point about 15 -18 not having teamates. I never made a full team league flow chart, but this video shows how it could work fairly well.

Well, the idea behind guesting is to give the player base the power to be able to smooth out population gaps on their own. Right now, the server populations are so varied that not even an 8-tier system works.
Guesting essentially simplifies the game into 3 HUGE-population teams and 32 maps to play on that are all scored equally. It also gives players the freedom to play the type of WvW they want to play, whether it be epic large-scale fights or small-scale roaming, whenever they want, while still contributing to a unified goal. And the current guesting limit of 2 servers per day seems like it would be sufficient enough to deter abuse.
You asked me to find some holes, so that is what I am attempting to do.
Let’s say server A is B and C are in a ‘team’ and A is the highest C is the lowest. Because of this some people from server A transfer to server C. But then in the next round sever C is not allied with server A. There could be a conflict of interests if people from server A then have to fight their old server.
Honestly I like you idea. I was just digging for holes.
I actually kinda like this idea with guesting added in seems like it would solve a lot of T1 queue issue with an extra 8 maps for them to spread on.
Would require people to work together and encourage good team play between servers and wouldnt over-power the gold servers because its due to how much each team wins by also with the guesting idea there cant really be stacking on one server because everyone is free to move around all 12 maps would make matchups closer and could add a new interesting aspect to WvW.
Could also help skill lag due to kitten -100 man zerg stacking
This would make 15-20 man zergs great to have on each map could get a lot more done
Guilds could find a lot more GvG’s due to them basically facing 6 servers instead of 2
(At least until Obi Sanc comes out)
Some issues there might be would be
1. Server/Guild drama might imped
2. Trolls might increase
3. Wouldnt be too fun for roamers on lower tier servers due to more Zerging (Although there is so many maps in general that it might not even matter also Obi Sanc will make finding fights a lot easier)
As for putting extra load on the high tier servers to carry there low tier to victory:
I think this is more of a good thing then a bad thing. Putting some extra stress on Overloaded T1 servers is good thing
This will cut down on Server transfers as well.
People will get that “Tier 1 experience” right on there own servers the tactics and the numbers.
Of course there are people who have resentment for other servers but hopefully with the thought of winning it will deter that hate.
Seeing something like this implemented will hopefully add to the WvW experience and breck apart T1 superpowers from steamrolling everything that isnt T1
Of course that means also there are only 3 total rewards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place alliance’s
Will be based on which servers spread there troops correctly.
This will also help with coverage dominating PPT as well wont completely kill the idea of coverage = 1st but will help a bit.
Feel free to tear me apart im sure there are plenty of holes in this not to mention Grammar error’s I’m pretty bad at grammar bare with me please.
Also Anet would have to leagues even again either 8-8-8.
which would mean 12 maps
Server alliances according to http://mos.millenium.org/na predicted rankings at this time would be
1. JQ/NSP/AR
2. SoR/Kaing/GoM
3. Blackgate/ IoJ/ DR (lol)
4. TC/ YB / ET
5. SoS/ CD/ SF
6. SBI/BP/FC
7.Mag/ EB/ DH
8. FA/ DB/ HoD
Or if they made the leagues 2 again it would be 8 maps and the alliances would look like this
1. JQ/AR
2. SoR/GoM
3. BG/DR
4.TC/ET
5.SoS/SF
6 . SBI/ FC
7. Mag/ DH
8. FA/ HoD
9 NSP/DB
10 Kaing/EB
11 IoJ / BP (lol again)
12. YB / CD
