Sorrows Furnace SF (since Aug-25-12)
Like some of you know, our server(like some others too) just lost a group of guilds this past weeks, they leaving for a greener grass was their decision and our server couldn’t offer them an immediate solution with our mostly PvE server.
What I’m asking in this post is people/guilds with strength… I’m not referring that you must be hardcore guild/players, but strength in sticking in this server to watch it raise, and not leaving when we face a difficult enemy or just because you feel “pro” and want to go to a higher tier just to get told that a zerg trying to cap a supply with a buffed lord is not their kind of strategy.
We welcome any guild or individual who will help us organize and fight to get to our real tier, we want to be in a tier with balanced fights but enough people to be playing so we don’t feel like we are doing everything by ourselves and losing it to a enemy zerg.
Like I said, we are a pve server mostly, but we want to have it balanced as much as possible, please don’t get discouraged if you find that our population is not WvW focused, we are trying to show our players the beauty of wvw but we need help to succeed. Anything I can help with just let me know and I will help you as much as I can.

Also, we are trying to organize the guilds still left in our server to use a common VoIP like TS or Vent to help us organize any individual in sorrows. Any idea or help we will welcome it.
I don’t have any suggestions for VoiP, but I’ve been finding myself in WvW more and more lately and would be more than happy to help as much as I can.
guys, Sorrows Furnace already has a sever wide mumble (i believe it’s 500 slots)

I know this because it is run by the same very generous person who runs the HoD one – please consider donating

We also have a TS with a 500 cap, I believe it to be more wvw friendly for some reasons. I will visit that mumble and we will try to see if we can start to make this server better.
1. I had no idea that sorrowsfurnace.com was still being used. Last time I was on that site a couple months ago, it was looking pretty dead (and now that I’ve revisited the site, it looks like those forums are still rather sparse).
2. Do you know if there is any way we can get our WvW community qualified as a “guild” so we can get WvW channels added? Or does the applicant HAVE to be a guild? If the mumble server is only open to guilds, there will be SF players who will want to get involved, but will have a hard time meeting that forum eligibility requirement (i.e. smaller guilds). As much as I want to get involved, my guild is pretty small and I’d have rather tough time mustering up 8 guildies to register, much less post. :-/
Sorrow’s furnace has a terrible communication problem, 50% of the server speaks Spanish, therefore everything needs to always get translated. Making WvW a real pain.
Given how much English I see in map chatter, I highly doubt 50% of the server consists of Spanish speakers. But I do know we are the unofficial Latin American server and have a large Spanish-speaking population on Sorrow’s Furnace. And I do see many who are quite involved in our WvW community.
Quite frankly, I don’t think it’s a communication problem. It’s a working together problem. Just too much “us” and “them” on our server. I’ve seen way too many English speakers bash our Latino players in map chat for speaking Spanish. And I’ve seen too few Spanish speakers translating orders into English for those who are unable to read Spanish. I can’t speak on how things are on the Spanish side of things (it’s been too many years since my last Spanish class), so I honestly can’t say if there is any bashing in Spanish going on or whether the English orders are being translated to Spanish.
We’re all on the same team…treating everyone with respect (no matter what language is being spoken in map chat) will help both sides of the language spectrum be far more willing to work together to get things done. That said, I’d love to see more bilingual folks in WvW to help help bridge the translation gap and so everyone is on the same page.
Kuro, is LH still working on getting our server’s WvWers organized? EB was a bit of a trainwreck for most of the day yesterday. We had a small handful of very experienced WvWers (but who didn’t have commander titles) working together for a good portion of the day trying their best hold and defend what we had when we were completely outnumbered. Things would be going well until we’d get newbie or zerg blitzkrieg commanders on the map every couple hours with an itch to take, take, take (several with their eye on the shiny castle, others with an eye on the weaker server) when just we simply didn’t have the numbers to go on the offensive. They refused to turn off their commander titles, took away most of our defenders (who ended up just following the commander icon), dug their heels in and refused to work with us on common goals in favor of capping things we couldn’t defend, overextended our resources, put our holdings at risk (loosing many as a result), and completely decimated an alliance we had with another weaker server (turning the 2v1 onto us instead of the stronger server). Then they left the map after a “job well done” only to have their few caps flipped within the hour.
It’d be nice to see a solid effort to get folks on our server organized and working together for the good of the server.
