More and more players are abusing a hack that allows them to “shadowstep” forward in small segments to escape any enemy at high speed regardless of their class.

Anet have made it clear that they need to see the hack going on first hand before they can do something about these individuals.

How about someone comes on here and tells us who is monitoring the NA and EU side at which times so we can actually fix this issue?

Posts like this get deleted often and “naming and shaming” gets you forum banned so try not to name names, as hard as it is to resist.

One thing that has always irked me about this issue is that there’s no report option for “hacking/exploiting”. It’s sometimes annoying enough to try and right-click on the person while they’re blinking away in order to report them at all (which gets to be impossible if they break through the ground), but then when you do, there’s no option to report them for what they’re actually doing.

I generally select “botting” for my report option, but I don’t feel that’s entirely accurate. My concern here is that I’m reporting them for something they’re technically not doing, and thus someone might look at it and say “no, that person wasn’t botting, they were definitely playing the game as evidenced by X, Y, and Z”, and thus nothing is done about it.

Yeah, that bothers me too. It further adds to the “if we don’t acknowledge it, it isn’t happening in our game” attitude they’re projecting.

I’ve blocked a few of these cheaters in the past to monitor them and it annoys me to no end that even though an entire server sees them hacking away, because Anet didn’t see them, they can continue to do it without consequence months down the line.

I’m fairly sure I know who you’re refering to. He does it in the middle of our zergs and I have reported it.

Btw: We had two flying FoW mesmers in bay earlier this week so keep your eyes open if you play night.

The ranger in the guild with the guild tag starting with the letter T was the one I fought just before posting this (that should be vague enough to avoid infractions.

That’s my point, every server (including mine) has people using speed hacks and jump hacks and it’s a massive problem. Hell I saw someone in my server using a speed hack to farm Iron ore in our borderland, it was bizarre.

He probably receives tons of mails from players, I wouldn’t expect a reply. Anet isn’t very fast on dealing with hackers, apparently they won’t ban without themselves seeing the player using 3rd party program in the game. It usually takes ages to ban someone.

When I mailed him about the hacking UW thief several weeks ago, no reply either, I kept seeing the player online long after that as well. But eventually he got banned. Give GM’s name to others in map chat, the more reports, the more pressure on them to deal with it.

I bet having no “report hacker” option in the menu keeps the staff costs down. Many people don’t even report when they see no option in menu and very few know they can send mail to GM about it.

Lately i see arena net take action against hackers in the forum. Arena net do not, have to address any hacking information in public forum: they address it in private with in company meeting.

Tell arena net to tell us player who is monitoring NA/EU side is security violation. Example: it is like asking secret service to tell who is monitoring each side. Security identity and Security information need be protected.

So the best strategy is to keep ingame video record ready when encounter hacker and send video to arena net in private.

I do not think Arena net is hiding issue: Hack:speed and other hack is sensitive issue and security issue. Why again? because every player include player who want be hacker include hacker in action who is going to be punish and hacker who think they will never be punish and hacker who is waiting for right time to hack, have access to forum and will use any information to share between each other for better strategy. I almost forget-also any security information and sensitive information put in public will put arena net company in risk.

I understand us player want information because it is normal: what we see is limit, what arena net see is not limit because they are a company.

That is just my opinion

Can’t GM Chris program an active bot that scans incoming codes to detect when these hacks are active? From my understanding, Chris is a genius security expert, on par with asuran high council members.

Agreed. Thanks for that, Michael. It’s reassuring just to know you’re reading them and completely understand why you couldn’t reply to the mails.

I got your in game name from an enemy player in game so wasn’t entirely sure I was sending the mails to the correct person in any case.

lol after over a decade of gaming I have NEVER seen a game stop the speed hackers. Just last week a whole guild was camping our keep blinking all over the place. I just go somewhere else. Don’t feed the trolls and they eventually move on.

Look at how “Runescape” reports people.
You file a report for hacking/abusing glitches
You can write a small text to explain what is going on (think it was 300 chars long)
and the game automatically makes a video log file for the last 60-120 seconds of your game prior to sending report

It would solve so much. For us, for you, for everyone.

It will cost time and money to implement, but considering the time you guys spend, company time, running around manually looking for cheats if the logs arent clear. That time costs money, lots of money.
Not to mention, since it captures the players own game, any infringements done by the reporter him/her-self will also be revealed. (i know hackers often reports others of hacking if they get killed while hacking. Even if it is totally random)

So, am I just supposed to not use the built in report feature and mail you instead? Because I will mail you literally 100 times a day to get rid of hackers I see if that’s what it will take.

To my recollection, this isn’t noted anywhere in game, so I don’t know how people are just supposed to know to send you a mail regarding these issues.
