Q:

Hi guys,

Yesterday a guy in my server stole 4 golems of my guild and hid the map, throwing them in the river right and left of the waypoint. My guild reported it as a bot because there is no options to report spies. What do you do in a case like that?

honestly, from what i’ve seen, not much unfortunately – but on a psychology level – have fun anyways ? – these people feed off frustrations of others, the more you complain the more you feed the fire and give them the satisfaction of knowing they are getting on your last nerve.

They have to get bored and ignored – anything else is just giving them a reason to do it again since there is no way to effectively report them :/

think of it like this – ever notice how when you start telling people “Don’t waste supplies on sm” they fix the wall …..or you tell them “You better not ______” some people will do it just cause ? same thing

make attempts to ascertain whether they know what theyre doing or not
repeated offenses solidify the case

email it to anet

in game reporting is useless for this kind of thing

You can do nothing short of setting up a TS wide password verification system and that still will not stop the issue. In other words, short answer: there is NOTHING you can do about the problem.

A guy stole 4 golems? I’d normally tail him … wait till he jumps out and go move it elsewhere. Or grab 3 guildies. He can only be in one place at a time, doing 1 lame thing to help build his inferior keyboard warrior ego.

It’ll take anet long time to handle but if you can record it, they will deal with his account as his actions go against the code. Problem is, likely a lowbie alt account. But 1 account at a time.

It’s pathetic that some players do this or feel the need to, along side gate hacking, or speed hacking, or even that super crazy flying hack crap. All suck, need to be recorded and sent in.

Willing to pay for boxed expansion if you put legit GvG in the box $$

People like him are sad, lonely people who look for any kind of attention they can get. Poor guy’s mother may have abandoned him or maybe his dog died…or he no longer gets excited dressing up as a woman.

Nothing, they are there and they are to stay. They report your every movement to the other server so you better do something original.

We had a tag watcher in EBG in our match this week, and as a result we were struggling to make any headway. So we had a bunch of people on the map that had a commander tag put it up, then our main force commander tagged down and not long later we owned Stonemist.

I’d like to see something like an IP address lock to all accounts from same IP to one server at a time. If you have multiple GW2 accounts you can only play on one WvWvW server. That way it would take more effort to spy. Than just logging in watching commander tags and sabotaging; supply/golem/buildsites.

Voice chat is a seperate issue that anet cannot police.

The thing with IP address locking to a particular worlds is, what if there are multiple people in a household playing on different servers?

My brother initially joined Sea of Sorrows, then moved to Blackgate, and I believe he is now on Sanctum of Rall because he and his guild were paid to move there. Meanwhile, I have always been on Ehmry Bay and have no intention of moving anywhere else because my guildies are awesome (and they cannot be bought).

I would imagine that such IP locks would cause issues for us… if I were still living at my parents’ place, I have since moved out. But still, it happens.

I’d say you can still play pve and spvp. But only one could do wvw if a conflict like your accounts are playing verses each other for the week. I’d say if your not in wvw guilds you can always guest to join in on pve activities. I think it would be rare people in same house both wvw on different servers. WvW numbers are low anyway but these season achievements bring out pve players more. I would also do away with map completion title in wvw needing to be done. Don’t worry nothing will likely ever change.
