Split the Pricing for WvW/PvE Tags
Rank realty means nothing though other then time spent and that is not a way to see if the person knows what they are doing. 300 gold should cut down on the number of ppl who have them and that maybe for the best

Other than EotM Shudders the Badge requirement combined with the rank requirement should be enough for people to have at least played a good chunk of tiem in WvW.
The 300g entry is absolutely nothing for a PvE player, and they may have never stepped foot in WvW other than map completion. That is why it would make sense for a PvE player to get a PvE tag doing PvE things, and a WvW player to get a tag for use in WvW, doing WvW based things.

Making wvw rank account bound has made every one into vets of wvw its odder to see ppl of lower rank in wvw then ppl of high rank. The “gold” cost being so high keep ideally your zone in wvw from having spam commanders. I am not sure how else you should do this there AP locks but even that can be a bad ideal of what the player can or cant do. There no way to keep players whom are bad at wvw from getting a commanders tag most ppl just ctrl target who there driver is but the ideal is to keep the number of tags on a map to a manageable level.
How about look at it this way if its a high gold cost its hard for one person to get it but its a lot easier for a group of ppl to get a tag for ppl. So a guild who wvw a lot can work together to get a tag for there leaders who “drive” during wvw.

Why would they do this? It’s pretty clear the whole point of the pricing structure and release of these tags is as a money grab.
That subcommander commander thing is meh. But it would be useful to give commanders their own chat. Including ALL commanders commanding on ALL WvW map (scratch EoTM). Might be especially usefull on silver and bronze league where zergs are being rotated around to defend waypoints (usually means that the EB blob comes to home border to defend garri). This way you don’t have to send some poor bugger to the other map and scream it out there.

id like to point out that i command and spend my badges on siege. this is why i never have more than 100 badges on me. please leave badges out of the tag price.
Keep prices as are. Any guild can pull funds to give the main commanders of thier server/guild the tag. We held a fundraiser a bit ago on my server and raised over 2k gold in like 2 days which is enough to get enough colored tags to have a few in each time zone at least.
Had the same basic idea, OP. My take on it:
But split them and give WvW a cheap, blue, first commander tag (in the 50g range) so that aspiring commanders don’t have as much of a hard time, since WvW is horrible for earning gold, and then make every further color unlock cost exponentially more. For all I care, make unlocking everything cost equal to PvE, i.e. 1500g. But atleast the first three colors are vital. During primetime it’s often the case that three public commanders temporarily or sometimes permanently lead on one map (this is just assuming you are also introducing guild commander tags … if not, this would make cheap colored tags for WvW even more imperative).
