Madness Rises [Rise] – Banners Hold.
Don’t argue with idiots, they pull you down their level and own you with experience.
It used to not stacking till one clever guy at Anet thought its a great idea to make them stack, so they did sadly. In my opinion it should count as a crowd control instead of a condition so you can use stunbreakers/stability to avoid being stuck in same spot for 10sec or even more.

I believe most would agree with you.
Immobilize stacking is super lame and it doesn’t really make sense as a condition in the first place.
Funny Story.
Casting on a zerg on my nec i got chained immobilized. I then watched in horror as the zerg bore down on me, while nailed to the spot unable to move. The zerg, led by its commander turned to engage another group at the last moment and literally run around me.
I was saved.
Ok, maybe not that funny…….
I think what made it amusing was that I was immobilized for what seemed like an eternity. So long that I was able to have a mini conversation with myself.
“Chained immobilized.. great -.- Oh no, the zerg turned this way…. move Move! MOVE!!! Oh phew they turned away……. hey this’d make a nice screenshot (Immobilize Finish).”
It’s the twiddling your thumbs waiting for it to finish so you can keep playing that makes it so stupid to me.
This has been a problem for some time now.
Much complaints, no action…
Anyone not in favor of removing immobilize stacking?
No one?
Okay, ANet. We showed you the right way, now make it so
I still laugh at the time me and 2 other mates staked 15s+ immobilize on a warrior in TPvP, the guy raged a lot.
The mechaninc is just bad, but at least it can be cleansed.
It can, but if you have the ability to stack immobilize up to 15s+, that means you can reapply it often, making it still viable even with the cleanse. But supposed you hit some1 who just used his cleanse, the stacking becomes weirdly unbalanced, imho.
It such for one person because there always that one guy who cant avoid the first wave of it so they will get chained with immobilize but for the most part only a few ppl will get hit with this in a big fight. In a more 1v1 or small man group vs small man group the out put of immobilize is a great deal less so its less of a problem.
What the real problem atm is boon duration and condition duration being to easy to get at a high %. for boon duration its stability that simply last for way too long to the point of near endless stability rending most hard cc worthless and making soft cc way too powerful. As for condition duration its more on the lines of your problem with immobilize (on the lines of the immobilize lasting too long from just one or 2 hits of it not realy stacking).
I always felt that skills that make a person lose control of their character should have at least diminishing returns, at most be very rare in the game.
Since the second is out the window in GW2, we need to limit the amount of imobilize/fear/stun.
Something like a rolling 15 second counter,
first stun/fear/imobilize 100% duration,
2nd stun/fear/imobilize 50% duration if less than 15 seconds from end of 1st,
resets every 15 seconds from last applied stun/imobilize/fear
I tried to walk past a group of Spider once…
once!
CC in any game should never exceed X duration, people want to play not spend copious amounts of time unable to move or fight back.
Most classes have Condi removal or stability available but if its down or your running a different build your screwed. Who ever thought this would be a good idea probably shouldn’t have any input in development from this point on.
A lot of people have complained about immobilize stacking and I’ve actually been quite surprised how many people want it to get removed. Almost no one will argue for keeping it. I have never even thought of it as problematic and was shocked that anyone would complain about it the first time I saw a post on it. By the way, it caps out at 3 stacks. IMO it’s just part of the game. If you don’t bring condition removal, you accept the fact that you are going to struggle more vs immobilize. This is not even slightly close to Guild Wars 1 which had not only crippled but hexes that would make players up to 90% slower for a much longer duration that were far harder to remove.
Dogged March + Lemongrass + Melandru Runes.
Good luck with that, I’ll just earthshaker your head in after you blow all your skills on immob stacking.
Start running with guilds so you actually have some group comp and condicleanse, only pug groups have issues with immob.
it only stacks upto 3 times now
so in sPvP atleast, I use 3 immbos on my guard since it doesn’t count as CC.

This guy gets it!
Knock Down, Stuns, Blowbacks, Immobilize it’s like the worst sort of game play and it only works when there’s a counter. It all has it’s place, but occasionally it just goes out of bounds and leaves the player helpless. It’s not a good feeling and it sure isn’t fun.
Some classes get good counters but, others do not. A small review of how CC effects different professions and specs would go a long ways towards balancing it out better.
I feel like the people complaining about this are fighting outnumbered without proper build composition. You have condi cleansing, and you have stunbreakers/stability. You’re apparently just not building enough towards group support or defensively enough for WvW. Not trying to trash-talk, just trying to offer my opinion on the solution to the issue.
I’ve been of the opinion for some time that immobilize, and likely stuns, should be followed by a brief period of immunity from that condition. Not a lot, but some sort of cool down to prevent these absurd chains.

Oh, you seem a little upset by something? hmmm could it be that warriors that run with there 25 man “guild groups” don’t need to worry about immob stacks? no thats probably not it its probably that you only fight other groups, guild or not near your towers and keeps so if any sort of resistance is meet you can endure pain and run.

This^ Its absurd you succesfully cleanse the immobilize and 0.5sec later it simply reapplies leaving you in the same state as before. kittened imo.
it wouldn’t be so stupid if it was the first condi to be cleansed when using a shout etc. The amount of times i get condi bombed and use all my condi cleanse and still have immob is annoying. with the current condi meta more condi can be applied then what you can cleanse even with -condi food and runes. condi classes also have access to +condi duration and dmg food and runes.

It’s so easy to permanently root someone with immobilise stacking by simply refreshing once the first immobilise stack has worn off whilst dumping covering conditions. Changing it from 5 stacks to 3 stacks did very little to prevent people like myself from abusing this flawed mechanic. Sorry Necros, you’re incredibly easy to immobilise and interrupt……which funnily enough will get you immobilised again (Chaotic Interruption). Are we having fun yet? Probably not.
I remember the good old days where you had to get your timing just right if you truly wanted to permanently root an opponent. It required you to actually be aware of tick durations and therefore required a certain amount of skill and patience to pull off. It’s just laughably easy now.
I’m seeing some people mention stability in a thread about immob stacking.
I really hope that those people know the difference between stun for example and immob.
