For anyone interested in doing organized DUELS, ie 1v1s, 2v2s, etc between servers in WvW, this is the group! It works very well in Tier 3, we have about 200 members from all across the Tier 3 servers and we organize events almost nighty. I’m trying to start the same thing for Tier 2 !!!
Have you considered taking the duels into sPvP? Not only would it be easier and cheaper to try out builds, but you wouldn’t suffer repair costs, interruptions from 3rd parties, or occupy a slot in WvW that someone interested in WvW may appreciate.
Plus, you’d get to duel people in any tier and this could pick up a decent following.

Playing in WvW gear and sPvP gear are entirely different. In fact, dueling in sPvP you have a lot more ‘3rd party’ interruptions than an isolated corner in WvW. Also in T2 I haven’t been in a queue for a long time except for reset nights.
This would be fun, so long as you aren’t dueling on a map where there is a queue, and you are actually willing to stop dueling and help your server out when it is needed.
This was the problem last time I saw a dueling group, we had a queue for a map, and were fighting to hold a keep, while the people that were dueling refused to come help. You really shouldn’t be in WvW if you aren’t willing to help out.

Thanks for your rude consideration of my attempts at being helpful. I was under the impression that sPvP servers could have password protections, thus avoiding 3rd party interruptions.
Honestly, I’d say the bigger issue with using sPvP servers isn’t so much the gear (tho I understand wanting to play as your PvE character and having different trinkets), it’s that skills function differently (like confusion), you don’t have access to racial skills, and you can no longer switch weapons during a match.
I still think this is a fine idea, especially while we have no dueling system in place, but I think it’s sad that such groups would be limited to a particular tier.

theres rarely any queues in the BLs so our community is harmless, we all paid 60 dollars for this game and we are entitled to play as we see it fit and fun.
Hopefully Arenanet introduces dueling, spectating, arena and death matches and make it easier for all of us in the future, until then, [Duel] will be recruiting

Must be nice not to have elites that are not on 240 second cooldowns. When I roam solo, I get in new fights every 20 seconds, most of them overwhelming, or be fighting one person, only to have more, and more filter in, and before you know it you’ve got a 8 on 6, or even better a three way where either side has fewer than 10 players.
I support the dueling, although I think that most of us servers will be busy fighting for points for the first few days, why not organize the duel a few hours before the reset itself? We had been having duel nights with BG for the past few weeks and I think it is a good chance to practice our dueling skills or fine tune our builds.
Also, I prefer to duel with my WvW gear over sPvP gear since the WvW gear are more flexible, that we can fine tune the statistics we want (precision, armor, power, etc) by combining a myriad of armor. The sPvP equipments lump all these into their accessories making it really hard to have a “mixed” build.

Your points are flawed. sPvP has hardly any interruptions. In WvW, you get the crosses symbol on the map, so everyone comes. Also, fights are even MORE balanced in sPvP than WvW because gear and levels are all equal, unlike in WvW.

As a player who does it all the times on Maguuma the biggest differences between duels is the skills that are not effected by the “pvp only” nerfs, second is the use of racials and 3rd is the buffs such as a nourishment and food buffs which can’t be used in structured pvp. that’s just my 2 cents I hope it goes off with a hatch on thursday / friday when the match has been decided

Had some fun duels while waiting for TC’s queue to pop. Got my kitten handed to me… which was good because I had some silly traits (Powerful Auras: worthless in 1v1, Arcane Abatement: worthless with no Z differential, etc.). Great fights, though; I really learned a lot!
