Escorted dolyaks, speeding them up and stuff -> no reward.
Stayed at supply camp for 20 minutes -> no reward.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but the events even tell us to defend them, right? So why is there absolutely no reward for our time investment and efforts? Dolyak escort is pretty tedious you know.
I can’t really play 6 hours in a row or anything, so I have to think how to use my available spare time, so the only answer you, Arenanet, make plausible is “do not defend anything” basically.

Because people could abuse the Dolyaks by defending a bunch of them for a few minutes then run off and still get full credit for all of them.
So rather than nerf rewards or change how it detected participants they decided to outright remove all rewards.
They claim that getting the supplies is now the reward, but we don’t buy that.

Dolyak escort rewards are temporarily turned off. Defense rewards for camps/towers/keeps are only given if you kill an attacker or repair, as far as i know.

Defending donkeys gives you nothing.
Killing one – exp, karma and gold.

No wonder there’re so many karma trains in WvW and zerging is the only way to get some fun as a pug.

there is also no real need to defend these Behind your lines and you shouldnt be rewarded for it. the ones in open field tho heading into dangerous grounds trying to get to a tower or keep that NEEDS it should give a reward.

Defending the dolyaks had it’s rewards removed because it was the easiest thing ever for a botter to abuse the kitten out of those quests and get the rewards

As for the defense of camps and such, you only get rewards for repairing and killing something (this however I disagree with and should definitely be adjusted)

But the issue with all the PvE aspects of WvW (defence events, dolyak escorts, krait/centaur/skritt events) is that all of them are extremely predictable and super repetitive (a lot of times even more predictable and repetative then PvE actually is) making them a botters dream which unfortunately leaves us legitimate players out in the cold for rewards, and if Anet were to expand the ways to get rewards in all these events unfortunately you would have an infestation of botters worse then it already is

I once stayed behind in a supply camp and defended it with another for an hour or so. I’ve also spent some 20s on upgrades. Although it was nice to do this for a change, I can’t see me doing this often, since 90% of the time this consists of standing still waiting and hoping the enemy sends in only a few people and not a zerg. Of course in the end the camp was wiped with all the upgrades. And it was painfully obvious that if I went with the zerg instead, I’d have constant action AND superior rewards. This may work if you want to be AFK 90% of the time doing something else, but for active play, it just doesn’t pay off to defend.

If the ogre/krait/centaur/skritt PvE events change some of the way a particular map works, maybe they could be used to make the yak escorts more interesting/dynamic. Since the yak always tries to be moving, I’m not sure bots would be able to keep it up in the face of the NPC assault.

I am not saying that isn’t the case I am just trying to show you the reasoning behind the current rewards system in WvW. Don’t shoot the messenger

Obviously getting rid of botters is the ideal scenario, and I am sure if some online game has developed the vaccine to getting rid of all botters it probably would already be implemented. However given that the cure for botters does not exist (afaik) the legitimate gamer will always be the one to suffer because of the aforementioned botters.

I agree that there needs to be rewards for escorting Dolyaks. You need them escorted in the first 30 minutes of taking an objective so you can work on upgrades. It is true that killing Dolyaks gives you xp/karma/gold that is why you have 1-2 ppl camping the routes.

It’s a hard thing to decide.

I don’t think walking side by side with a yak should reward you right now. At least not with money. Currently too many bots are still running around, and they would benefit from all the yak guarding. This leads to a poorer economy.

Would people be fine with getting defense rewards in only XP and karma? This might be a good alternative.

As a sidenote, the guarded caravan upgrade should also upgrade the yak, either providing him more armor/hp or maybe even making him invulnerable until the caravan guards are killed. This would make people want to upgrade the caravans.

and on the other side of that, killing a dolyak could reward a +5 supply(past your current cap) to the player(s) that killed it.

they could make it so the escorts give rewards only if there was enemy presense that came close to that caravan, this would stop teh lame people / bots who stick to caravans by the portals keeps way behind there defensive lines that have a 99.99% chance of not ever being in danager

I think this idea is really on the right track!

One thing I would add is when guarding a yak the supply boost would definitely need to be capped to avoid having a zerg of 50 guard a yak and have the keep/tower have instant full supply. (however I suppose you could argue if they are willing to do that they should get the benefit etc etc) but this would be my only potential adjustment

Otherwise I think this is a solid idea!

Offer more XP/Karma/Coin for defending than what attacking could ever provide. All of a sudden people will be farming defense and the fully upgraded Supply camp/Tower/Keep will actually be defended.
