Stonemist Castle; Why always lagging?

I don’t play WvW always, but when I do, I would like to enjoy of it.

Well, it is the main focus for the enternal battlegrounds and whoever owns it doesn’t give it up without a fight and that fight usually involves most of the people on the map for the 2 or 3 servers that want it.
Also since this is about lag there is nothing in the updates that should be able to fix it as the issue is on your end and not their servers. Player culling is about the only thing that they can fix so you dont fight invisible enemies.
The short answer to fixing this is to buy/upgrade to a better computer.

I must disagree with you since I don’t mean fps “lag”. My computer is pretty new and I can run about 20-30 fps with max settings all the time while inside the Stonemist Castle even with players having big fights there. But that is not the problem I mean.
What I mean, is the serious lag with only Eternal battlegrounds. The games runs smoothly and without any lag in any other map. And this why I can’t see why it would be problem in my end. I just believe you thought I ment fps getting low there…

Stonemist lag has nothing to do with how fast your computer is. Its an issue with the server. During some of the larger engagements it can take as long as 5-10 seconds to get a skill to go off. Its always like this for anyone in the area.

I’m going to disagree with that statement. If you’re hitting a skill key and there is a lag before the server is registering it, if at all, that isn’t due to your fancy shiny new computer you just purchased a month before release, especially if you’re running rendering on the lowest possible settings just to ensure it isn’t your computer.

This isn’t exactly right. In big fights the ‘server’ can lag resulting in abilities not firing despite the fact that your UI and character is responsive. This will happen on high end and low end system alike because it is on ANETs side, much like culling.
People can and do get local lag as well due to bandwidth and old computers as well as stuttering from low fps. However, we can’t apply a blanket answer like telling someone to go get a new computer.
Regardless, all of the above can be reduced or fixed with code optimizations and improvements. Hopefully this fix they are working on improves things across the board.
On a side note, I do have to wonder why the culling issue is far worse in EB than it is in the BLs. This strikes me as odd because ANET states its on their end. Of course I suppose the EB map could be on a different location than the others (be it physical or virtual or both)
Mira, it appears that you’re in one of the lower WvW tiers. I don’t know how SMC battles are in that tier, but I’m going to assume that they are no where near the size of the tier I’m in and thus you haven’t truly experienced the server lag.

Ok, I confused fps and the lag he was refering to. Also just because I’m on Darkhaven doesn’t mean I haven’t truely experienced the server Lag. I was here when Darkhaven bounced between T4/T5 for a few weeks and I’m sure there are people left on HoD that have faced even greater numbers. So current matchups aren’t the best indicator of players past experience.
I have read people saying your local.dat file should be under 20 MB’s and to delete it if you are having problems.
Go my documents, guildwars2 folder, and delete local.dat, then run the game.
I have not tried it myself.

Maybe the Jumping Puzzle is the reason why. the eb jumping puzzle is different than other bls because it has many traps. I’ve noticed when someone triggers a fire trap my game slows down and lags considerably. This could be affecting eb lag and gameplay more than you see on other bl.
Maybe Anet needs to make the eb jp its own separate map. They put the most popular jp that has alot of trap triggers in with the most popular map because its a constant fight for sm castle. That = lag to me. Could this be the problem?
Let’s ask tootsie.

this doesnt help anything, i have a close to “top of the line” pc, while i dont really get that bad of fps lag during 3-way fights for sm, the real lag is server side, that being said it doesnt matter what kind of pc you have if the lag is server side, you’ll still get skill delay
