Mass server transfers are killing the WvW experience for those of us that do not run with large guilds/alliances and are LOYAL to our server.

Please put an end to this, make server transfers cost money, it will benefit your company and your players.

Server transfers are necessary if ANet insists on waiting for the population to “self balance” itself.

However, transfers should be locked out of WvW for a couple days. Perhaps for the rest of the current week’s matchup.

Just close them down for good, seriously, I don’t want any of the guilds that left our server just to have an easier time in WvW to come back. We don’t need any fencehoppers on Gate of Madness.

Also, in response to Redundancy, how is allowing massive server transfers going to help balance server populations? In my opinion, that will only increase the disparity.

If you lock them and they’re imbalanced, they’ll stay imbalanced until people from winning servers quit. Which isn’t fun and isn’t good for the game. People eventually get bored of stomping other teams non stop (look at HoD) and will spread out. Players looking for a challenge will transfer to lower servers, and players not satisfied with their current server will transfer to servers that are doing better.

HoD was dominant for so long because it had a massive 24/7 WvW population imbalance that was so lop sided they couldn’t mathematically lose after the weekend was over. The next 3 servers towered over 5, 6 & 7 in the same way. This created a situation where the T1 & T2 matchups were pretty much predetermined such that you could pick the winner with high certainty before the match even started.But eventually HoD players got bored, TA broke up and the population spread out. As a direct result of that we’ve now got one of the best WvW matchups ever occuring in T1, where every server was within 1000 points for most of the weekend.

But you’re right that ease and immediacy of server transfers is creating problems. It’s too easy to flock to winning servers now. You also have people transferring back and forth to mess with other teams mid matchup and waste their supply. And even in teir 1, there are now allegations of BG guilds (stomping T2) transferring to T1 in order to purposely target IoJ so BG can break into T1 next week.

So, there’s still room for improvements. But I don’t think locking everybody in to the current imbalanced matchups is really going to fix everything. It’s just going to lock all the current imbalances into place.

i agree stop server transfers now, all guilds are doing is running to the winning servers. And if you must keep it the player/guild should endure some type of penalty & only allow transfers once every 3 months. better yet get rid of it all together.

I understand that the people who transferred will be locked out of low pop servers. However, new players will still continue to buy GW2 and they will most likely start on low pop servers.

Personally, I would rather wait to have fresh players level up and be loyal to my server than to get the trash players who left us high and dry back.

The transfers need to stay until guesting is fixed! It is way too early in the game to shut them down. The game and servers are still evolving.

there should be a loyalty bonus, eg. if you stayed at your server for x amount of months your reap world rewards or maybe a big karma bonus each month

Lionhearted, I love the loyalty bonus, great idea +1.

Suggestion time, I think you should be limited to maybe 1-3 free transfers, and be locked out of WvW for the remainder of the matchup.

there’s nothing else to say and the community and gw2 players is unanimous in this

still not certain why ArenaNET has turned a total blind eye to all the problems of WvWvW starting with free transfers

Loyalty bonsus for people who are already max gear/level means what? Nothing.

Majority of the people who WvW do so for ego’s/being in control, nothing more. Especially with a system with no progression other then being in control.

Discouraging creativity with facts.

The fact is, if you can’t buy a bonus in the cash shop that people want badly, even those who are maxed out and only play to decimate or control the opposing team, then you can’t award them something that is game breaking for being a loyal gameplayer.

Think about it logically, how do you feel being strung up and beat to death with no way of turning the tide in the current state your server is on being outnumbered 10 to 1? think about how new players new to the game would feel if they came along and got rick rolled by a guy who had been playing for 12+ months, then asking the question “How do I get one of those awesome Golem Dragon?” Only to be met with the answer, “Play for 12 months…..”. You think he will hang around, especially if he is playing on Guest pass?

Anyways, as I said, this games progression promotes control over your enemy and again, a loyalty reward would have to be nothing more then fluff based, as are most rewards based on time spent playing these days to keep it balanced.

Find a server you like, make sure others like it so your best bud doesn’t abandon you so you leave and then others follow suite. If you want ego, transfer to top tier or gather your alliance into a server and work from there.

I don’t compete in WvW for ego, but I spend most of my time there. Why? For fun and the power of the mist, its a pretty darn good bonus, I spend the first half or so of the match to contribute to the bonus, then switch to pve to make some real money. My ten man WvW guild sure isn’t playing for ego and holding SM, and we don’t want it that way.

In all honesty, the amount of XP, karma, items and money rewarded to you in WvW is and should be incentive enough to want to do it.

The issue is not that people are not loyal, it is the way Arenanet handled the orginal implementation of the opening of server transfers which has literally blown up in thier face and loyalty bonuses take time to apply due to the nature of having to, well, spend time playing. Also, loyalty bonuses generally only work with subscription based games. This is a cash shop game where, I can buy the game, play for 1 day, go afk for a year and come back and have a 1 year bonus, how is that fair to someone who actually stay and played for the year?

If Anet wants to keep free transfers to encourage spreading out of the player population, then why aren’t they making it so that server transfer to low pop servers are free, but to any other servers are not? That simple solution seems to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. It discourages bandwagon’ers, yet encourages even population throughout all the servers. Win/win?

Why would say, a single individual with no guild affiliation and who’s not bandwagoning, have to pay more for the same service simply because he/she wants to go to the server where his/her friends are?

Granted, they pay more in gems, but when it comes to real money, that’s kinda unfair for a customer IMO, especially if they don’t even transfer for WvW but just to PvE with friends.

IMO, just wait it out to balance. Tier 1 and Tier 3 are kinda balancing now, I expect Tier 2 to follow soon.

Server transfers must be dealt with! Its the issue number 1 of the game along with bots. For example German servers always hop into same server and fight 2 vs 1. In the end they jump into other server and try to set score that they get places 1-2. (Drakkar, Dzangor) This also completely screws fair players of these servers. Sometimes i see 0 Dzangors and sometimes just small group that other germans take out instantly showing their spot. WvW is in ridicilous shape and if no changes till christmas I wont be surprised of rage quitttin wave and jumping to next best MMO.

Server hopping also brings bots! First i thought other servers are cheating, but infact they are these gold spammers that do it. When you find 16 bots in borderlands it’s the gold bots and also means real players cant enter. Server hopping must come to an end before the game comes to an end!

While I understand where you are coming from, as I am a GoM player as well, I have to disagree. People should be allowed to transfer, and I love that it is free(Seriously, Blizzard? $25?) However, I think people who transferred should be locked out of WvW for that week’s match, even two week’s matches if possible.

This tactic of jumping to an enemy server just so you can win is close to cheating in my mind. I’m not talking about hacking or exploits, simply playing the game in an unfair way that ruins it for other players. And it is ruining it. In Gates of Madness people are complaining and talking about leaving the server, even leaving the game.

It may just seem like a few servers are having issues now, but it’s a potentially game killing problem.

…And on a personal note, I think all the guilds that left are filthy traitors. And the fact they spawn camp just adds a new degree of anger.
