Stop Trying to take my content - WvW is Epic!
I cant believe all of the posts coming from you guys who cant stand to lose. WvW is EPIC. And it is only going to get better with time. If you are one of those guys who are saying you aren’t going to play anymore based on not even a weeks worth of play because you are losing, please take your own advice and don’t play. That will free up server space for the hundreds of peeps that cant get in each night.
This WvW is totally unique in the market and it is special. I love it. Why would anyone want to limit the time you can enjoy it. get organized. Recruit people who play at night, and stop trying to take my content away with your crappy attitude. Go play a game that has no losers so you can be happy.
This is a game with winners and losers each week. Hallelujah! Every week I’m going to get to play for something against other similarly matched servers! woooot again Hallelujah! Way to go Anet. You are definitely on the right track. Keep it up.

WvW is great, but it was also sold as endgame for casual users. And casual users are the vast majority of GW2’s player base.
Recruiting off-peak guilds on game forums, forming server-wide alliances etc. etc., is something that is beyond the casual player. Casual players just do not have the time or willingness to organize even at this level.
As has been said before, by all means, let WvW become a hardcore game mode where you have to organize a 24/7 alliance with gamers from around the world. But in that case:
1) ArenaNet is guilty of false advertising: WvW was sold as casual.
2) You are looking at an Eve Online niche level game mode: 500k tops.

World vs world format would last me two months tops.
That was before I put a single foot in wvw.
Actually I didn’t go into wvw until one day spvp was down and I kind of had to to be able to kill other players.
I also said spvp would last me around the same amount of time (however spvp kept my attention for a week).
Spvp can be a good format casually but not when it’s forced to be the only format.
If I get locked into any format it better be gvg or arenas, or I won’t be there for very long at all.
Let’s take a look at the statistics :
WoW : 30 minutes to an hour of gameplay left that game, hated it.
Rift two months of gameplay, left it never went back.
Guildwars : 6 going on 7 years, and will be being played when i want to waste time on a game later on after I get this newness of gw2 faded (not too much longer).
LoL : Same as wow, horrible game.
I don’t see a game coming close to guildwars one. Guildwars two took these formats for a reason. That reason is to compete with the other games that has a ton of people playing them that are playing those formats. However they told thier fanbase from guildwars one to deal with it or gtfo competitive pvp won’t be in this game.
I told the gw1 players atleast a year before release these formats will not suite our needs. There is a topic, somewhere (not these forums) that I will not link to, that has guildwars 1 top players thoughts, and they aren’t very pretty. That thread alone would probably make you rethink what it is these players are wanting, and have been addicted to for the past several years.
I must’ve missed the sign that said it was a fire sale.

1) ArenaNet cannot make the people on your server compete against other servers, regardless of whatever vague words you choose to use.
2) Pretty much what I assumed when I bought the game, people cannot even handle losing against 1 other player or team, losing to 2 other factions and winning less thsn 50% of the time is going to cause alot of needless heartache.
The solution is instanced pve content where you can always win or the devs can lower the AI to where you can always win.
I love WvW. I don’t think it’s perfect right now, orbs and server mismatches for example are big issues, but I’m really enjoying it.
I also think that it can be both casual or hardcore, depending on how you play it.
If you just want to logon for an hour and participate in some epic keep defenses or sieges without worrying about the big picture…you can do that, and that’s pretty casual.
On the other hand, if you want to play for days straight, organize squads, deploy siege equipment, discuss strategy, and bolster keep defenses…you can do that to, and that’s pretty hardcore.
Something for everyone really.

I agree that I don’t see how WvW excludes casual players. There’s enough people on your team so that you don’t have to have ferocious timing and finely-tuned builds, you can jump on and play for an hour, or stay on all day and be rewarded either way. So individual skill and play time are not really enforced by the system. There’s not really anything that pushes casual players out of the format.

The casual player is pushed out when he jumps on to play for an hour and can’t get out of his spawn. He, quite rationally, goes back to PvE.
Starting Monday morning, this was the case in most WvW match-ups.

Having WvW in a 24hr setting has nothing to do with being hardcore, nor does your server population imbalance. Im a casual player that only gets to play at night do to my job. You are throwing in a false statement as fact and need to stop.
There is something for everyone. and you don’t need to be a hard core WvW player to have fun. He is exactly right. I spent 3-4 hours with a couple guildies doing nothing but defending dolyaks that were supplying our tower. guess what was 3 vs 2, 3 vs 3, sometimes 3 vs 10, was super fun. was very casual. you can play casually or hard core is totally up to you. Join a guild or join a siege or play solo and just go run around resetting guard posts and harassing supply camps.
