What is the strongest 1 vs. 1 class in your opinion? (in WvW)

Mesmer, necro, and warrior.

Personally I would have to say just Necro and Mesmer. Sigils of doom completely wreck warriors who use healing signet. If played right you can achieve about 50-60% up time on the poison.

Mesmer, Thief and Engineer.

thief; of course.. perma stealth a.k.a resetting fights; you get the picture, warriors and phantom mes.

Mesmers, engineers, healing signet (especially) warriors.

Ranger hands down….he says struggling to keep a straight face.

P/D Thieves …

Literally the ability to hit, invis, hit, blind, hit, invis et al …

I have taken out small groups of roamers easily with this build frequently and 1v1 it’s too easy :-)

Saying that, I have more fun with my warrior :-)

Mesmer is the strongest.

They are pretty rare but really strong mesmers are ridiculous. I really don’t count thieves. Any really good thief is gonna win or run away and reset endlessly.

Even p/d thieves are no match for condi necros/mesmers.

There is no god of 1v1s. Certain classes beat others; i.e. rock, paper, scissors. However, Condi PU Mesmers, Warriors, and MM Necromancers are universally strong.

Mesmers are arguably already the strongest and they will be the absolute dueling Gods after the balance patch.

Rangers are probably close to the strongest 1v1 class if not the strongest.

The only thing right now that gives me a run for my money is a Necro.

The Necro of course has trouble vs other classes..

ANet devs play rock thats why.

My thief can take out any class quite easily.

Necro/War/Eng not far behind each other for 2nd though.

Depends on which class you’re fighting, right now I think warrior wins overall, really easy class to play & currently quite op followed by necro, mesmer and engineer.
Mes and Engi are really good on duels but really hard to master, they can easily own both warrior and necro if they are played properly.

I don’t find mes to be especially hard to play. Eng… is like playing a kitten piano while playing a game.

Heh for me it’s the other way around, I started with Engineer and it has always felt natural to me. Mesmer however… I do enjoy playing the class but I can’t seem to find the right mindset for it.

Mesmer > Ranger > Thief/Necro > Engi > Ele > Warr > Guardian.

Of course it depends on the build, some builds just will naturally be stronger vs others, but I would say overall with skilled players, that is the order.

I am amazed how many people say warrior. They are #1 in PvE and zergs no doubt, but for 1v1? They are really pretty bad.

atm ranger and mesmer, after dec patch ranger will stay on top alone with noone who can touch the class

hm… traditionally I would say Mesmer. However, much relies on your personal skill level and parctice. I have met Eles, who just took me appart (normally it’s the other way). Most warriors, Eles and Thieves I meet are just hit and run mashines, hitting you a bit, healing up and coming again.

Although my personal greates challange in WvW 1v1 are perplexety rune using condition engeneers on my mesmer. On my necro they are no problem at all. On the other hand, I take most necros I see (no matter if power or condtion) appart, no matter on which profession I am. It’s really hard to say…

Any class goes imo, it’s the dude behind the keyboard that matters.

I also think it is the Mesmer which is strongest. I saw one Mesmer yesterday that kited like 5 or 10 of your guys. Especially if they have that weapons which have Clones stuff as autoattack they can permanently keep clones up which makes it impossible to hit them with single tarted directly targeted stuff. It just all gets bodyblocked. And they can stealth and port a lot and change locations with those Clones. He just ran around and youl could not kill him. He probably wasn’t strong enough to stay and encounter like 2 of us… but if it was only 1 of us he killed him fast with that build.

Thief is not a problem. At least he can be CCed for some amount of time when he comes out of stealth and you can get some hits until he disappears(of course if he is good he will just run away).

I do, have a level 80 on everything. Ranger to me is almost-good, especially in 1v1’s, but feels really, really neglected. Especially the nerfs it has suffered for the sake of sPvP which no one plays. Being good in Spvp is probably a good enough reason to be neglected in every other game mode for Anet..

we will be nerfed in january or february if the changes to gs will come which john peters mentioned. we are already on the same 1vs1 lvl as mesmers are but soon we will be absolute op.

I’d rather run into a warrior than almost everything else included in this post.

Which is the strongest 1vs1 class,you can see easily in 1vs1 arena.
At the moment is the strongest : S/D-thief, Hambow-Warrior and Terror dhuumfire necromancer or offguard with scepter and greatsword. Then phantasm mesmer with prisamtic understanding and spirit ranger.

You can take a look in the solo leaderboard and the 1vs1 tournements that especially S/D thiefs, off gudards and hambow warriors are on the top.

guardian is weakest 1v1 by far

then you have absolutly no idea. offguard is atm one of the strongest 1vs1 classes. rank 1 of the leaderboard is a guard btw.

Hmm i didnt know that, I also thought guard is kinda useless on its own. :/

nope, off guard is pretty aewsome in 1vs1. A lot of people plays him atm in 1vs1 arenas

i’d say the hardest professions to beat, in WvW would be;

An experienced Ranger
s/d thief
Phantasm Mesmer
Tanker Ele

Anything else is pretty simple. The reason i want to underline the “experienced” part regarding rangers is that unless you know what you are doing, no matter what the build, that profession won’t even carry you 3 feet on its own. Either you know how to play a ranger, or you die.

iam german ,too add me and we can go togeather in 1vs1 arenas. i can show you some decent and strong guards

IMO the strongest 1v1 class is ranger but only if you know how to play the class well, otherwise is you want it easy and dominant then a complete cheese warrior with perplex runes and traited for confusion on interrupt will let you stack 21 confusion on 2 interrupts.

In the end though I say it just comes down to how well you know your class and how well your enemy knows their class.
