Sub lvl 80s hurt WvW
I dont know, some people enjoy massive zergs, GW2 is a MMORPG after all and not a SMOG (small scale online game)
I gladly accept the hour long queues during primetime, after all I can do some dungeons to earn money for siege and upgrades while waiting.
In a multiplayer game, first people we should exclude are people who want to exclude others.
Resulting in everyone becoming excluded??? o.O
It’s t1 EU because of numbers and coverage, and unless you’re french or german, you’re going to drop due to the exodus a while ago
OP is probably playing for Elona Reach. And that’s good for us
I fought against them a lot today in Desolation BL. We had epic defense at the Garrison, both Frenchies (Visunah Square) and Germans (Elona) launching huge zergs at us, sometimes both at same time. We held them all off for hours upon hours (until at least as long as I logged out).
I saw much less upleveled characters among ER, compared to VS, but they seem to drop loot bags even easier, because they move in such predictable formation.
Yours, Ayna Micro
Deso PuG commander and very happy with my upleveled guys
PS. yes, we are gonna drop tiers, because we lost tons of big WvWvW guilds and few other things happened as well.
uplevels are like PvE mobs in wvw that follow the zerg around so their always near by for an easy rally.
I, however, will not take any pity on a “friendly” uplevel by me, and gladly will watch them die.
really?… my mezzie when he was a weee tadpole never had the easy rally issues. Neither does my lvl 28 necro. I see just as many 80s become the rally target. Maybe…just maybe, its a skill issue….hmmmm?
Maybe we should request a skill test before anyone gets into WvW so we can keep all the lvl 80 scrubs from joining in on the fun? Yer right, thats just silly. Lets just keep it the way it is. Let the lvl 80 scrubs have fun right next to the lowbies. Cuz ya never know…..that lowbie may have more personal experience in WvW than you realize.
And if they don’t?….who really cares…its a game. Deal with it, or go pound sand.

people want to have fun… maybe wvw is fun for them and they have haven’t reached 80 yet… what’s wrong with them wanting to play wvw? You’ve never entered with a low character?
it’s a game, people play to have fun and if you don’t want low levels following you get a guild group together and turn your tag off

Hour long queues? We’re not in 2012 anymore. If you have a problem with queues, then you have the option of transferring to any server that isn’t ranked #1. If you want to remain a band wagoner and consider yourself elite due to the mass amounts of players on your server, then you deserve getting queues.
“I smell like pomegranate.”
big difference, your server is ranked last, ours is tier 1 in europe. If people are like that on your server its no wonder it is where it is.
This post certainly put the original/first post into perspective.
well queues on eternal battlegrounds are upto 4 hours currently, the borderlands have shorter times obviously and queues will go down rapidly now because its almost 2 am here.
This is senseless talk, what we should really do is just remove WvW all together and any sort of PvP. Apparently people don’t like challenges versus real people. I wonder where they are at in life? Life must really suck.
Is it a challenge to manage an uplevel, and deal with downs? Sure, if they are newer or don’t know what they are doing. That being said, when they get to 80, what do you think will happen? Hm… Takes some thought doesn’t it.. But since it’s only thinking against your own mind, seemingly you should be able to handle that. Surely.
Everything you are describing isn’t a fault in the game mechanics, it is player error. Even more so, it is your inability to adapt and overcome.
What I am saying, as well as concurring with some previous statements already concluded, is that you simply need to hone your leadership. Great that you can lead 50 people, any leader knows that if you lead a path, others will follow. It’s how you lead, and the decisions you make, that define you.
You are defined as a leader who doesn’t like to adapt.
Nothing wrong with that, if you can accept it as well as your followers can accept it.
Best of luck.

Well personally I think they made the wrong split at release.
I’d be happier if WvW and Spvp shared the same progression (instantly lvl 80, cosmetic changes only) seperated from Pve.
I think you should make WvW require lvl 80 to enter. I am sick of lvl 3s or similar low lvls who dont even have all equipment slots filled, no traits and not all skills unlocked. They waste slots on the maps, especially when the queues are hours long already and turn fights to the worse. If one of them dies several enemies will get up again.
If you cant make WvW lvl 80 only, at least remove upscaling for people who have at least one lvl 80 already to punish exp leeches.
Move along, this is not the game you are looking for.
No. Upscaling in wvwvw is a fundamental feature, much like downscaling in pve, get used to it or leave.
Im guessing the OP is on a server with good 24 hour coverage otherwise he wouldnt be such a tool.
Devona Borders (DB)
Devonas rest.
I wish, we need more discipline and organisation than vizunah and desolation because our public zergs are smaller, especially at night. On eternal battlegrounds the public zerg is only about half the size of vizunah and desolation currently. But then again its 3 am.
if you are correctly geared you can have even more survibality than a lvl 80.
a lvl 35 with lvl 35 MW armor and weapons that go for +vit +thg have more vit and armor than a lvl 80 in exotics with soldier because you also have points going to +pwr.
a lvl 80 can bring more variety of builds, but a low lvl with the right gear/stats can bring some powerfull builds to the table.
So who is correctly geared? Almost noone buys best equipment for their lvl while leveling. I often see lvl 60s in WvW who still use blue armor around lvl 20
Its the minority of the upscaled players who always buy suitable equipment for every slot at their lvl.
OMG! Where did you get this new elite commander skill to inspect the armor of players? I mean, that must be the only way you can claim to see level 60’s in blue level 20 armor! Please, please tell me how you learned such a skill, and where I can get it!
Now, in all seriousness…upleveled players can be just as useful as level 80 players. When I rolled an alt, I went out as a level 5 and stacked my vit gear, and I was upscaled to like 36k health. Saying that upleveled players are worse is just silly, because I have seen plenty of level 80’s who are utterly USELESS. Level != skill, since you could grind level 2 boars if you really wanted to until you were high level. If you’re seriously saying a clueless level 80 is still better than a knowledgeable, skillful lvl 40 (or lower), then you need your brain checked!

How I know it? Some people are bold enough to brag with their bad equipment in map chat when I am (or one of our other commanders) complaining about playing with upscaled characters. Its quite silly when lvl 60ish players wear lvl 20 blue equip.
Train them rather than slag them off- within a week or so they will be lvl80 anyway, and if you took the time to train them then you have another valuable member for the server.
It’s attitude’s like the OP’s that leads to people leaving your server and is one of the reasons you will drop back into T2.
I met a commander like you when I played in t1 when I was running on a lvl10 ranger— and after I proved my lvl10 could survive longer than most and also be more useful than most of his ‘elite crew’ he never moaned about uplevelled players again, and started actively encouraging them including pming them if they were ging wrong and steering them in the right direction.
Result: a better team and more options.
If you want a real laugh roll a necro, grab all the skills and grab the lvl 15 greens – then laugh as your 44k hp makes it almost impossible for 2-3 full exotic lvl 80’s to have any chance against you.
Upscaling is very good on certain classes that are not too dependent on trait trees and elite skills to function.
Besides which, if you instruct upscaled players properly they can do all sorts of valuable jobs that would otherwise have to be done by some of your own.
And 4 HOUR queue for EB? Why anyone would hang around for that amount of time before even getting into a game is beyond me- that’s longer than my total play tme a lot of nights- but then I have a RL job and family.
Everybody can be useful in wvw no matter the build, class or level, wvw shouldn’t have any elitism towards any group. Obviously you need to be a tanky build fighting within a zerg but the zerg is not even the meta you can be effective splitting into smaller groups to get objectives done quicker without having to drag the main zerg everywhere, good organization and teamwork is not just following a tag.
Plays completely opposite professions to his main Teef.

While I am loath to admit that the OP has a point simply because of his elitism, he does have a point.
If the Queue is full, then anyone not able to pull their weight is in fact dead weight and that applies to anyone, up level or not. If you are not on your A game, when their is a wait for others that may be on their A game, you are taking up a slot that is better served for someone else.
However, on lower tiers, like T6 and below, there is no wait, and that means you are not taking up a slot, you are providing a warm body to whatever team you are fighting for. Thus on the lower tiers, regardless of skill, gear, or whatever, you are adding to the power of your team.
So while I can respect that on T1 or T2, where people need to wait an hour or longer to get in, that anyone not optimized, skilled, and ready to put out their best may as well leave, because when every slot in the battle ground is full, sup par is not acceptable.
But when you have zero wait, and in fact have issues getting a group of more then 20 on the field, anybody, and any body, is welcome.
Playing on T8, I can say that up levels are the norm, getting your friend in, for their daily, or what have you, is how it all happens, because, we are not taking a slot that someone better might fill, we are filling an empty slot.
It really boils down to where you play, and I think people on the upper tiers need to realize that they only make up a fraction of the WvW situation and a minority of it at that. There is a lot more diverse group and styles of wvw as we move though the tiers.
So, there is no one way to play from T1 to T8. Each tier, each world, should try to find the way that works the best for them.

I am a commander on my server and I tell people to not rezz people sub lvl 80 and kick them from my groups.
Its wrong that low lvls can win with good coordination. A same skillful and geared lvl 80 can easily beat 3 of them at once.
I reported you. You should be banned and never be allowed to command anything anymore, because you’re making calls against wvw rules, which allows people to play underleveled if they want.
I kind of agree at least on reset nights. If there is no queue then fine, but if there is a queue then sub level people need to leave and go somewhere that doesn’t have one.

I completely disagree with the OP.
I’m excited when a lowbie comes around. While commanding I had a guy that actually apologized for following me so closely; he said he didn’t know what else to do. We got him into our VoIP channel and found out that he had only been playing GW2 for a few weeks. So I explained everything as I went, which at one point included how to get supply and build an arrowcart. He had a lot of fun, and I was very happy to contribute to his gaming experience. He still runs with us and has developed a lot of skill in a two short months.
Get off your elitist horse and learn how to train the people that want to help you. Even if they have other level 80s, it’s not about exp leeching. It’s about the experience.

What’s the difference between a level 3 and a level 79?
There is none. They are both upscaled

The wrong way to approach this. Sub-80’s only hurt for the rally game. The solution is that the rally game is stupid and should be removed.
I shouldn’t cringe when I’m fighting with a low level because he’ll be rally bait. The game is making exclusivity with this mechanic.
Two lvl 2 mesmers without all their weapon skills unlocked takes down a lvl 80 Warrior with all his/her traits. True story about a friend and I leveling our newbie mesmers, it is about the skill that is used by the player and not by the level.

First 2 vs 1 and 2nd the warrior must have been horrible.

Maybe the warrior was horrible, but it does show that being lvl 80 doesn’t necessarily mean you won’t be a free rally for enemy groups.
