We now have 3 different maps that can be used as borderlands: Edge of the Mists, Desert, and Alpine.

We have three servers per match.

Why not use one of each BL for each match:
-green BL = EOTM
-blue BL = Alpine
-red BL = Desert

Pros:

-no map goes to waste
-every week, you never know which BL you’re going to get.
-adds variety to prevent matches getting stale every week.
-you can have the same 3 servers against each other, but on different home borderlands to change each week’s matchup.
-is a possible solution to “rotating” BL maps without redoing the WvW world map every week

Cons:
-may need more dev time to bring number of objectives on each map in line with each other

PS; if 2 copies of each BL map are on the WvW overworld map, then every 4 hours can also randomly pick which map to use as the overflow map, to spice things up there, too.

I think this is more relevant now after the AMA. This idea could save time on manually changing the overworld map every quarter…

Would be incredibly unbalanced. Winning the borders would be a lottery. Did you get a kittenty border that no one want to play on but another server is more than happy to nightcap on while they defend the other borders with tooth and nail the rest of the day?Well kitten.

No, if we have 3 maps we need visual/minor cosmetic changes on a universal design template that should be Alpine. Dress it up as a jungle and desert, bam done. What’s grassy and watery bay on Alpine is giant tree jungle bay on Jungle and sandy oasis bay on Desert.

Anet gonna cheap out and rotate them though.

You can’t just transplant eotm or the map, it has 3 different unique sides and just no.

Green- Alpine (aesthetic makeover to look more nature like)

Red- Desert (revamped)

Blue- Arctic (make)

EB could get an aesthetic makeover.

New Main- 80 Thief – P/P- Vault Spam Pro

221 hours over 1,581 days of bank space/hot pve/lion’s arch afk and some wvw.

That makes good sense about EOTM not being suited as a borderlands map. I had forgotten there’s no garrison, for one.

I was mainly thinking about how stale the BLs are. I mainly hate that all 3 BLs are the same map. It gives me no incentive to visit non-home BL.

However, I’m all for more new maps…

Agree on most of your idea, except that I’d want to make Alpine + Desert into BattleGround maps instead of BorderLand Maps. So we can have all 4 maps as stand alone.

The borderland system is outdated anyways, and as long as it exists, everyone is going to scream that one side got a better map than them etc. I see no point in it any longer.

Would prefer all the maps follow EBG style with one corner for each, and have the advantage in that corner.

This also leads nicely into giving them the option of enbaling/disabling maps depending on the population later on.
