Guild Leader of the EU guild [PAIN]
Sea of Sorrows
To avoid ‘Stacking’ Servers as was done in seasons 1 and 2, I’d suggest lowering the Server Cap. As it stands, There are obvious differences in coverage from tier to tier. To fight this problem and to allow rebalancing of the servers, I would suggest lowering the number people allowed to be on all servers (which wont hurt the PVE Crowd with the implementation of the MEGA-Server system). This would, in turn, eliminate the strategy of stacking servers for tournaments as well as rebalance the other tiers and allowing for a more competitive tournament/WvW experience.
ANET can still implement transfer sales to lower tier NA/EU Servers prior to season 3 which will clean the Full Servers out.
Any other Ideas to help fight the “Stacking Strategy” would help as I think we are all tired of fighting against stacked servers as well as fighting in one with its enormous que times.
Lower the number of servers fr 24 to 15-18, then lower map queues
SERVER MERGE!… you can’t say that in an MMO.
Mega-Server will fix everything.
Lowering server caps could be a good start. I still have no idea why ANet increased server caps after season 2 started.
lower the server cap in stages starting right after season 2 ends with free transfers back open to the bottom ranked works and at the same time slowly lower the WvW map population caps a little bit a time to let guilds adjust while the megaserver makes guilds cross worlds.
Raising the server cap was a mistake to begin with, and I’d be in favor of lowering it again. That being said, the top tier servers are already stacked at this point and lowering the cap won’t make players leave them in and of itself – unless of course we’re talking about flat out booting them off, but that’s a dangerous and unpredictable road to travel.

Sigh…coverage doesn’t come from server population. It comes from having people spread out a different time zones. If you had a full server and they all lived in the US, you’d have huge coverage gaps.

Look at all the transfers to your server, add up how many gems that is. There is your answer.
Gems purchased with Gold turns into inflation of the cost of gems. Gem increases not only increases the likelihood of a cash purchase, but also increases the temptation of the lazy to convert cash to gems to gold.
They even created more demand by creating free transfers at the bottom of the Silver League if this latest bandwagon goes the way of the last few.
They got the idea from a dominatrix who would be “hired” then would have the clients whip themselves.
Sorry for the crude analogy, but it’s the only one I can come up with that makes sense.
I just want the matchups and final rankings to be fair to all servers involved. Any one server should not be punished in final rankings because they were up against tougher competition for most of the season.

You wanted a prize because you are in tier 1 and feel entitled.
Here’s an alternate look at what’s happening with the 6 server format;
In terms of flat population (discarding WvW-focused population and coverage; because ANet refuses to exist these are issues); the 3 T1 servers have pretty close to equal populations and likewise with T2.
The rewards actually reward those that perform the best within their own tier.
Just let that stew a moment; rewards based on a level playing field.
No one expected the winner of T2 to perform well against T1, so if you did expect so then why not just hand out the tickets and end the season now?
One could argue that SoS has the same challenge in facing T2 that BG has in facing T1.
All TC has to do is stay in BG’s good graces and hope that the focus remains on JQ. Should that be grounds for 2nd place finish, essentially coasting?
If one looks at is as the reward is based on how one performs against your “peers” then the way this will pan out makes 100% sense.
There is compensation for T1 in that there is no way that any could place worse than 4th (barring defeat by DB or Mag, which just isn’t going to happen).
As for TC’s current trajectory to place 4th, that is up to the pre-season and TC just couldn’t beat JQ (though it could during the season) during that time so que sera.
For the record, the greater variety shown in Season 1 might have been more interesting; but it is what it is.

Wait…are you complaining that since because you are in T1 and are going to finish 4th this season, that’s not fair because you had to fight JQ and BG while SOS got to mainly fight T2 servers?
Here’s a suggestion. Win. Beat BG and JQ and stop QQing.
1. Put everybody into the same league, Swiss style matchmaking
2. Everybody who completes the meta gets the same rewards, with temporary until the next season cosmetic rewards for the winners
3. Reduce second place credit to 2 points, down from three.
They need to find a way to solve the unbalanced match system that is place now. Besides the horrible lag that hits, unbalanced match ups are the single biggest problem with WvW and have been since launch. If they can resolve that fundamental system issue, leagues would start making sense.
I do agree rewards (all WvW rewards) should be tied to participation at least until they can sort the balance issues. Having the right “zip code” should not be the sole determining factor as to how a player is rewarded.
Arenanet don’t care about their our stupid WvW!
One year on, nothing has changed. Anet… Anet… Anet?

Believe me when I say that my original idea wasn’t to ‘clean out’ The server population of the High Tier Servers. While decreasing the Server Population Cap will stop people from ‘Joining the bandwagon’, It wont Kick anyone who is already playing In that Server. Its just a way of allowing the other servers to gather more transfer guilds as well as new players rather than letting them into an overpopulated server (compared to the others).
My suggestion, no to season 3! Just as I didn’t want a season 2 either. It doesn’t add anything to the game.
I’d respectfully disagree with you there. Season play gives the server communities a larger sense of Unity and allows for people to meet new people that they might not otherwise meet. It also gives WvW a much more Competitive spirit and a sense of importance. Plus there are way more rewards/achievements/lootbags during season play. I like the idea of WvW Seasons, it just needs tweeking to allow for more competitive gameplay (allowing for more even server fights)
