A recent poll determined that world relinking will occur approximately every 2 months, yielding 6 potential relink periods per year.

How do people feel about having 1 of these periods be set up so that all worlds are unlinked, that is, each world stands on its own as it was before the linking. For instance, the last 2 months or first 2 months of each year could be unlinked. The rest of the time, the servers would be linked as they are now and readjusted to balance population.

The reason is to develop the “home world” community and simply to get to know them better, or maintain existing friendships. With server links, its really easy for people on your world to be lost in the noise especially if you are the smaller partner.

Its also the case that at least for the smaller worlds, the gameplay of WvW can be considerably different, and better in some ways, when there are fewer active players.

Finally, some EU players who play on NA have had markedly increased lag since the links started (no doubt due to the increased average blob size), so this would be a relief for them as well.

Yes!!! Love this idea. I have very much missed having our FC community. It would gives us all a break from the blobs and extreme lag. I doubt anet will go for it, with the server jumping ,might be difficult to create the matches. The servers that were low pop now have more players. Some of the higher pop servers have lost players. Great idea though.

I thought it would be really interesting to have 4 weeks of linked, 1 week of unlinked, then 4 weeks of linked. That would be pretty neat.

hmmm…. that would actually help to provide a good measure of what the so called slave servers have become. We might find that some of them have dropped to crappy numbers… orrrr… we might find that some have grown very well and might need to be a host themselves!

As far as “server jumping” is concerned… seriously what good does it do to lock everything down… If the collective “we” don’t want little mostly “dead” servers then linking needs to continue ( sadly )… but if people want they can still swap from slave server to slave server anyway and “stack” that way. I like what has been posted in other forums here that suggest locking down the top 2 tiers and leaving the other ones to balance themselves out, if possible. Just a thought..

As far as “server jumping” is concerned… seriously what good does it do to lock everything down… If the collective “we” don’t want little mostly “dead” servers then linking needs to continue ( sadly )… but if people want they can still swap from slave server to slave server anyway and “stack” that way. I like what has been posted in other forums here that suggest locking down the top 2 tiers and leaving the other ones to balance themselves out, if possible. Just a thought..

I think the idea behind this was to populate the lower population servers so that they’d stand more of a chance by themselves some day or for them to become a “host server” at some point in their population.

Eredon Terrace might end up being a host server for T3 or T4 with the massive population they have since being linked to BG. This was once an almost completely dead server not too long ago that benefited by being linked to another.

Love this idea. Just lock all servers during the unlinking phase to let the new native population resettle.

I agree that it is likely, but if BG doesn’t get a server linked to it this time around, they won’t be able to just jump to play with them again. They’ll either stick where they are or go somewhere else. Hard to say really what will happen with ET after they’re not linked to BG, but it will be interesting, I’m sure.
