We’ve already seen the devs remove the ability to see the commander icon on players running the commander tag. But now players are able to find the commander using their WvW rank.

It is more than likely that the player with the highest WvW rank is the commander and so still easily identifiable in groups.

So who else thinks a player’s WvW rank should be removed from their tag?

Well nowadays the guild fights meta is to target the leader, corrupt boon and GG, spoils the whole fight. So, I guess there should be an option a player can choose to show/hide his/her rank. Nice topic. +1

Make it a title where they can choose any of the ones they’ve earned, from Invader on up to whatever rank they have.

“it is more than likely” i.e. yes it is possible any old player can have a higher rank and not be commanding, but more than 50% of the time it will be the commander.

The fix is to untag when your zerg starts. Then tag again when you either break from the fight(read: running away) or thin their numbers down to a manageable count.

I think we should keep the wvw rank visible for the enemy. If they need to change something is to alow your own server to see your rank.

Also bring the /rank emote back.

I actually agree to removing the rank, when you’re in PvP it doesn’t show the rank either.

You can still have it visible for your own team, but there’s no need for the enemy team to know what rank you are

I am gold rank and above level of most of our commanders. Rank does not show who is commanding. Also when did commanders become like NFL quarterbacks nearly untouchable by rules and regulation NTY…keep the rank imo.

Like the idea, not to hide commanders though, but to clean up the red walls of enemy nameplate text. Change rank to an appropriate colored icon rather than spelling it out.

Besides, commanders will still get focused, as pin snipers easily discern character leader movements and portraits. And that’s if they’re not running multiple guild pins where another takes-over/resumes seamlessly if their primary leader is downed.

Thats like saying get rid of anything that shows what profession you are. Hide anything necro related because they get ganked quickly, hide ranger pets because they give away rangers, and rangers can make easy targets. Ranks titles are also earned, even if you cant see them, kind of unfair not to be able to show it off.
