Suggestion: Reward WvW Players
For this to work properly, one more thing would definitely need to be done – lowering the amount of badges, that you can get from EotM. Right now, it gives you more badges (and people in EotM get these badges for taking freaking objectives, not killing players) than WvW and it would work in exactly opposite way than the one you intended.

Ascended token from rank chest instead of a box with stats you cant select. Redeem it at a vendor for a piece of gear/weapon with the stats you want. They are not common things to get in rank chests so it would be nice to select our own stats.

Badges?! You mean the junk people get in bucket-loads in EOTM?
Yes it would be nice to be able to spend our badges on meaningful things other than siege and cheaper exotic gear; but EOTM allows PvE players to yet again gain more than WvW can in the same amount of time.
Keep seeing this topic pop up at least weekly, always in a new thread. It is definetly a discussion that needs to be had, WvW has probably the worst rewards in this game.
That said, I still stand by adding WvW Tracks (just like PvP Tracks) to WvW progression that does NOT include EotM, EotM is already it’s own animal and is overally abundant with reward payout to time spent ratio.

Eotm pretty much destroys any ideas to get rewards with regular badges. They could make a new level of badges and only have them drop off actual level 80 players with diminishing returns, you can only get a badge off the same player once an hour or something. Scouts and roamers will get screwed out of this as usual, but the zergs and gvgers would get rewarded pretty well.
I like the idea of rewards tracks like spvp and yes only for wvw not eotm. Let eotm be the entry map, you farm badges to eventually buy gear and siege at level 80, do wvw tracks in wvw for the next level of gear.

Hey guys, thanks for the input so far! I forgot to mention EOTM in my post, for the sole reason because I don’t consider it being WvW. For me only EB and borderlands are WvW.
Indeed it should be kept separate from the rewards or even ignored. Also, I am not talking about badges of honor, I am thinking about a new type of badge that one could get and exchange for rewards. I don’t think this would take Anet even a month to code, test and release. It’s a minute thing that could make WvW more interesting.

wtb shards of zhaitan for badges to finish my legendary. I hate dungeons, you get these dungeons currencies even in pvp, so why not in wvw?
EotM should be excluded. Also, I would like to see something implemented that you are only rewarded a badge (or more badges) for a kill if you have done significant damage to that target (both before or after downing it).

EotM mist need own cool rewards. Special EotM ascended weapon and gear sets would be good start so your gear would tell that you are EotM player not some normal www PVT zergling.

Let’s try to keep EOTM out of this discussion and just think of it for what it was meant to be; a map where you waited for your WvW queue to pop and get some experience before going to the real thing. EOTM as is, is rewarding enough and it needs nothing new added.
Regarding damage done to the enemy and player being rewarded with a badge: I agree, there should be a higher % of damage needed to drop such badges than there is currently with loot bags. I’d say anywhere up to 25-30% would be great and would prevent “easy badge farming” in zergs.
Also, there could be new titles added for 1000, 2500, 5000, 10000, 20000 badges collected.
Additionally the badges could also be traded (as someone said in the thread) for dungeon tokens.
Just think about it, one added item that would require very little manpower to be added, could better WvW as it is now and would give incentive to fight/kill players instead of running from tower to tower tightly packed in one big group of players.
Imagine receiving better help in the waiting room of your doctor then when in his office.
Eotm should not reward anything besides karma and stomped player loot to be honest.
Champ trains, Eotm trains, karma trains all are a determent to this game.
And everyone knows it, everyone!
Might as well write a program that makes you follow your commander and autoattacks everything in range. (like people in wow use)
Iow, this is the first game i found that turns it’s players into bots.
