[Suggestion] Sentry Post Upgrades
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
The sentry is a hint at where enemy players are moving. Since the average zerger can’t resist capping that circle, watching where the flags fade on the map can give a defender an idea as to where the enemy group might be headed (before the white swords of doom pop). They aren’t supposed to be tough to take objectives, they can kill yaks in combination with the krait/ascalonian/etc mob spawns, and right now they serve their purpose as a sentry: revealing where enemy players are.
Had guildy say the same thing, but had to point out that it’s currently a more of on purpose situation or someone having to hit something shiney as they run by versus truly being a sentry. As you indicated out as well, without the NPC creature interactions the Dolyaks will get by the guard, so why place them on the road at all? Just some weekend WvW moments thoughts.

Actually they can’t, because they aggro on the mobs instead of aggroing on the yak. Also, wildlife doesn’t spawn on Borderland maps, so caravan just walk past sentries.
I still think they should change the sentry guard for the human scout instead of the charr (Ranged guard oposed to the melee one) so it can kill a undefended yak (The major issue for the melee guard is that he stand still doing his 3 hit combo while the yak walk away). Other than that, it doesn’t really need a change.

Personally I think they should randomized… Killing the same charr or human enough times is boring…
@OP I like the idea, but ultimately sentries are meant to be solo objectives that most uplevels can take. While my 80’s might welcome this new challenge it would make my level 30 necro quake in her boots.

I admit, that was part of it. I figured the counter balance would be if people were willing to put the coin into it and if it was able to get to that level before someone squashed it. The mid levels were where I saw the value in, if it could kill that Yak it would be more valuable since it would actually be a choke point worth flipping even if you can’t take the camp that spawned said Yak. Appreciate your time.

I adore this idea. Random roamers would play a strategic part in disrupting supply lines and it would encourage dolyak escorting.
For example: An enemy just captured a camp and a tower. One of their dolyaks is on it’s merry meandering way to give them supply that they most likely desperately need. If your team flips the sentry in that supply line, they would be cut off.
On the flip side, they can do that same to you. Therefore, sentries would serve to do more than track enemy movement on a map.

The dolyaks generally never get killed by mobs and sentries in the Borderlands but the cumulative damage from mobs in combination with sentries can kill dolyaks in EBG, which is why I’ll often run the guards before double supplies on EBG if nobody is watching the dolyaks. Places where I know this specifically happens are between Pangloss and Veloka (where the dolyak can be attacked by bats on the way out, the sentry, and additional mobs on the way to Veloka) and between Danelon and Langor (where the doyak can get attacked by bats on the to the exit, harpies upon exiting, and a sentry before the bridge), but there are other places where dolyaks can also get killed due to cumulative attacks and a few where one set of mobs, alone, can take down the dolyak (e.g., happens often between Golanta and Jerrifer’s).
