[Suggestion]Underwater wvw
Troll? Just in case you’re not…
The underwater combat is decent, and beautiful under water.
There used to be a lot more under water combat area in WvW, but a lot of people complained so Anet ‘improved’ it.
they actually removed almost all of the water because it’s not well done. it needs revamping.
even the not well done underwater in this game is epic compared to other games, its a shame it was removed
I agree, if there was more underwater combat then rangers would have a place in WvW.
Underwater combat is removed because some classes are inherently stronger than others under-water. For example, ranger, mesmer, and engineer.
Anet got tired of people ganking their invincible warriors underwater so they removed it because they knew people would complain even more if they buffed warriors any more.
I agree with the original post… I love underwater combat and would like to see restored properly. Just because some people can’t get their head around 3D pvp fighting should not mean that we should lose it. Especially as this was one the main selling points of GW2 when it was launched. Also, all classes are quite balanced now underwater… the days of mesmers ganking everyone are long gone.
I would like to see 3 different borderlands… Green (because it is the no.1 ranked server) should be as it is – standard borderland, Blue (because it is mid ranked) should be underwater… the game play is slightly more difficult than the current borderland but not overly difficult once people get used to the dynamics better, Red (because lowest rank) should be in the air… similar to eotm but a different map that is more suited to competitive wvw action – a few easily defended choke points that give red a slight advantage but not too many to make it a joke… more like small plain areas near keeps and supply camps that have edges where people can fall off but are large enough for battles… then multiple choke points leading to the plain areas so that it is difficult to defend every single choke point but not impossible if you are fast enough and have the numbers. It would take a bit of thought to get the right balance.

Agreed. I love underwater combat. I don’t understand why people dislike it. I feel it flows so smoothly.
At the very least I’d like to see the addition of one or two underwater points. Imagine a sunken Bay…it’d add a nice level of variety to the borderlands. The old underwater “content” was hardly a comparison, considering it consisted of a lake one had to traverse and the actual capping took place on an island. An entire keep underwater would make things very interesting.
If you don’t like underwater content then simply don’t take part in capping that point and make yourself useful elsewhere :P Simple.

Oh that! With water as deep as in frostgorge under the ships! I would so love it.
I love underwater combat, especially in this game, sometimes I still get some at the lakish thing north of SE BL camp towards hills or in bay.
The underwater areas were sadly removed for what is now the “ruins” to cap after many players wished for it to be removed.
But I don’t think it was disliked because it was “under water” but rather because it was a vast space not really relevant to the BLs.
But I do not see Anet going in the direction to embrace this wonderful aspect of the game, they removed the only Map containing an underwater section from sPvP Hotjoin and Arenas with the last patch.
:(
make a new wvw map that is a mix of skyhammer and eotm, but when you fall off the edge of the world, you land in all water. and you have to do water combat for life until you die.
i think that sounds rly fun
Until they remove the downed state underwater or figure out some form of an underwater stomp, no thanks. Even if they do make that change, they will need to rebalance the skills since as others have pointed out underwater combat is incredibly lopsided.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
God no.

Then perhaps Anet should balance the skills.

If they bring back underwater combat in WvW, they need to bring back underwater Rocket Boots. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v5kRFs7T9qE

The next garrison upgrade from ranks should add torpedoes that shoot at people in the ruins.

underwater combat skills are more balanced than on land skills. They were rebalanced ages ago… before a mesmer was undefeatable underwater but has not been like that for some time now.
The problem is not skill balance… the problem is people do not know how to fight underwater.

It would be fun to add a tower or keep under water.
They could add a sea around BLs, and a couple of towers and guard points… yeah and bring back NPC living in water with funny name and speech

Underwater fights Are unbalanced,I think you never fought a bunker underwater yet.Why do you think Raid on the capricorn got removed ? Its not because people dont know How to fight, its just an unbalanced mess,Plus i dont even find it fun to fight underwater …at all.Like most others i know they rather avoid it.
The only thing more unbalanced then PvP is underwater PvP.
It is just not balanced. It is fun certainly but totally unbalanced and that is why it is not going to happen.
I disagree… I have a suspicion that those who think it is not balanced are warriors…
so used to being near indestructible on land that they start to cry when they get beat in underwater battles… just like warriors in spvp cry about op mesmers.
As a mesmer I used to win literally every single underwater encounter I engaged in – never once lost underwater… the only class that could give me any sort of problem were rangers and that was because their pets could heal faster than I could cause damage when they were in downstate.
NOW… I have fairly even fights with necros, eles, guardians, engineers, and rangers. It really is touch and go on who will win. The balance is much better than on land.
Even warriors could win underwater if they bothered to learn how to fight but the majority are that used to just running through enemies as near invincible as you can get in the game, that they know very little about positioning, skill use, dodging, escaping, in/out attacking… movement in general.
On land I have a 30-40% chance of skill failure… underwater most of the time my skills work… sometimes I will have skill failure but it is not as often as on land.

How do you even manage to turn a WvW underwater Thread into a QQ about warriors ? I know people from Multiple classes that dislike underwater combat, your comment is completely irrelevant on that part.
I don’t know wtf yall are talking about when you say warrior are easy to bear underwater… Tsunami Slash (Spear 5) is, by far, the strongest skill in the game. Think as it as a Hundred Blades THAT FOLLOW THE TARGET. Just because some noobs didn’t buy a exotic underwater weapon (I know that at least 80% of the players didn’t) doesn’t mean the class is underpowered. I can easily hit 15-20k in a non-bunker stupid enough to not dodge a few hits.
But back on topic. The real problem about underwater combat is the downed state. You cannot finish players underwater, which mean that a group can just power ress each other without having to worry about interrupting a stomp.
Also how would someone defend a underwater tower/keep if you cannot place siege underwater? Head-on combat isn’t a option when you have less people then the enemy…. That would end up giving every underwater node to the biggest zerg for free.
