There are most likely countless forum threads and posts about the frustrations of a PvE player being required to explore WvW for world completion, and the suggestion I have may have come up before, but I just wanted to throw my hat into the ring.

At the main waypoints, there could be an NPC, which when talked to assigns you to a “Grey Team”. The “Grey Team” have the following attributes:

(1) Skills are stripped – put in a “costume” type form.
(2) Invulnerable to damage.
(3) Cannot only see “Grey Team” players – as to not give a tactical advantage to friendly world on locations of enemy worlds.
(4) Can interact with any tower/keep portal.
(5) “Grey Team” can only be exited by waypointing and talking to NPC, or leaving WvW.

I understand that this is essentially saying “please dedicate a portion of your servers just to PvE players”. I also understand that PvE world completers should perhaps “stop QQing and explore WvW over a series of weeks [or maybe even months]”. It is just of my opinion that PvE content should be completely independent of WvW content.

I am happy to additions, further suggestions, or any other opinions you all might have (positive or negative) – you can even tell me to shut up if you really want to! I just wanted to share my opinion. Happy holidays!

Edit: Perhaps this “fourth team” that Michael mentioned could be adapted in some way?

If you’re going to go that far, you might as well move one tiny step more and just give WvW map completion automatically upon logging into WvW.

It’s not PvE world completion, it’s PvE and WvW completion. There are already 5 PvE map completion achievements, and if all you do is PvE then you can have them.

If you want to get the Hero achievement and title for PvE and WvW exploration, then you have to complete all those maps. If you actually tried it, instead of just giving up because you’re afraid to do something different, you’d find out that it’s really not that hard. There are other titles that are very difficult for some players to get, that doesn’t mean there should be an easy mode introduced for those titles.

You dont like our hard maps we dont like your boring ones.
What if you gain 1 explorer thingy after wvw and 1 after pve maps?

WSR→Piken→Deso→Piken→FSP→Deso

How about an option that turns you into an ambient creature that can be one hit, that cannot jump and you cannot leave the form unless you leave WvW.
I think this would be a fun compromise.

There are better ways to use resources on than this idea. Ok it can be a bit frustrating to clear all wvw maps for 100% completion. Just chip in every now and then to see what you can and can not get for that moment, rinse and repeat and you have it done sooner or later.

is amazing how a pve-er can grind for months a map or make same kitteny dungeon for a million time without any problem, mobs and bosses kill him every day. But throw a map where is a possibility to get killed by a player and OMG what a drama, frustrate much?
