Hi Devs,

I came here today to propose a simple suggestion to improve the current wvw situation.

My server is Desolation, its status is “full” but we are constantly outnumbered cos of lack of wvw players (ironical is it?), the past few weeks we have lost a number of commanders and players since they transfered to more active t1 servers because of the opponent zerg pressure. It has been an increasingly unpleasant experience when we have around 15 upto 30 players on tag facing massive 80 man blobs.

Perhaps its time to take a look at this number issue?

Suggestion: instance based maps

Please allow me to explain: an instance on a wvw map contains for example, 150 players max (50 on each side), when a new player joining a full-instanced map on his server, the game will automatically create new instances, and there will be an option to switch to other instances or as soon as a spot opens up on a full one.

A fair fight of 20vs20 or 40vs40 is awesome, but overrrun by 3 times the size is just unplayable, its not entirely players’ fault that wvw is not balanced and charging £30 for an transfer is unreasonable, plus that would only makes this matter worse.

Thats just my suggestion, there must be alot more ways to improve wvw from other players’ feedbacks on this forum that worth considering.

Things like these have been discussed to death. It is like this since launch so do not expect any change. Maybe HoT will have some stuff in it but till then, nothing.

Instanced maps already exist in the form of eotm, the problem you describe is due to server community. people not joining wvw or just not following the commander. I’m on SFR and we have the same issues, it all depends on the time of day, faith in the commander currently leading and the enemy numbers.

It’s the peril of being in a tier you don’t belong. Perhaps your offhours coverage outnumbers the other two servers? This would keep you in a tier in which your particular time zone is outnumbered. If your server is outnumbered 24/7 then don’t worry you will drop tiers to a more balanced matchup soon.

It’s the peril of being in a tier you don’t belong. Perhaps your offhours coverage outnumbers the other two servers? This would keep you in a tier in which your particular time zone is outnumbered. If your server is outnumbered 24/7 then don’t worry you will drop tiers to a more balanced matchup soon.

I always play at different times of day and it’s pretty much always the same, outnumbered.

The reason we don’t drop tier is, despite being 2 or 3 to 1, we can still win open field fights.

But when you’re against superior number pretty much around the clock, there’s only so much you can do.
I’ve posted some pictures the other day of some of these occasions where all you can do it just run away and try to do something else since trying to fight is basically just blowing at the wind.

Desolation has the coverage of a tier 1 server, but the WvWvW population of a lower tier server.

Nowadays we can rarely fill all borders on prime time, usually at least 1 of them is outnumbered. On the positive side queues at Desolation are either very short or non-existent. Our night team is just a handful. Early in the morning till noon it is often 5-20 Desolation players vs 1 enemy blob of 20-50 players. Desolation stays EU rank 3, because EU rank 4-6 servers usually have even less non-prime time presence during the week.

If the few dedicated Desolators would stop playing morning, noon and afternoon, Desolation would probably sink to silver league. I am personally often solo capturing towers and camps and also solo attacking keeps (I usually call in help of few others to capture the keep faster). We got a nice small team in the mornings. Same players tag up and capture stuff and keep Desolation’s rank up.

I don’t see any simple solution for the problem. Dropping to silver would mean Deso roflstomping many match ups. Many Deso prime time guilds care more about gvg than points. In other words we don’t even want to be in tier 1 every week. Nobody wants to face SFR as they have superior coverage and numbers. Their zerg comes at night to mow everything. I amazed SFR is not bored with the situation as I find it personally much more rewarding to capture big part of the map even with the outnumbered “buff” on than just follow a big zerg and win fights with numbers.

I agree with you on this. Maguuma had the same issues. Winning most fights, losing the matchup. SoR was much the same. Both those servers ended up dropping after an extended period outperforming their status. There really is no “fix” for this though.
