Here is another suggestion to make matchups more competitive. Its a pretty simple one that may have been suggested before and it may even help spread player population.

Create a 2v1 scenario once lead server has created a gap in the PPT score.
The 2 weaker servers can only attack the strongest when there is a large gap in score.

The alliance will dissolve after scores become closer. The gap between scores could be set at 10K point difference to prevent blow-outs and create more competitive scores between servers.

Once that gap is achieved an alliance is made between the two weaker servers for a period of time to help them reclaim territory against the strongest. This will force an Undermanned situation on lead server giving the weaker servers a chance to “weaken” the structures on the strongest server.

Hmm, Not entirely certain how large an impact it would have, but it sounds like something that would be great to try for a week or two as a WvW test!

It maybe true that game mechanics could be exploited, but when posting suggestions I try to think how it could be exploited then adjust accordingly.

I feel you would need to place your server at a disadvantage in order to activate this mechanic (fall behind by a considerable score), only to catch up to have the 2v1 dissolve.

This mechanic I suggested is to keep the scores and gameplay more balanced. We may actually create a match up with more competition without radically changing programming code.

Its the same as my other post suggesting a rank buff earned while playing Undermanned.

People need a reward to participate while at a disadvantage or no one will play on an Undermanned server…..thus we have a serious problem with dying wvw servers.

J your preaching to the choir with me. Most of us are well aware that something needs to be done for the long term survival of WvW. I’m just saying its not all on Anets shoulders. We as a community share much of the blame with wrecking good games, and Gw2 is not an exception.

Your idea was good IMO (at a glance). Its just that it is not the only issue with WvW and part of it the community has a hand in derailing WvW. From transfers, to hacking, grieving ect ect.

That’s all I meant. Sometimes “we” mess up a good thing also, and then look for development to figure out a way to fix it.

I am tired of paying good money to be the bad guy in place of lazy editors who can’t allow a kittening budget to hire a maintenance team (notice how I said editors and not developers?). NONE of that would have happened if they had someone paid (for real) to keep an eye on:

-The WvW
-The WvW forums

NO they just gave that to volunteers or the current intern who is logically completely overwhelmed by the amount of stuff (and tbh I can’t blame him/them) he has to check.
Then the guy(s) MAYBE makes a report of the situation that is promptly ignored by the rest of the developpment team because they’re too kittening busy “creating” a Harley Quin ripoff and basing an entire year of pve content around it!

Did you know we had community managers? Did you know that a community manager’s job is to interact with the community? Did you actually see any evidence of that?
One for NCSoft tht has 115 followers
One for Arena NEt (at least the wiki presents her as such) with 5500 followers
And probably another few that are so irrelevant, finding their names is nothing short of a miracle on the forums.

Now for the second part: Do you see any trace of them here on the WvW forum? Do you see any tweet, message, announcement that says they actually READ this, or even JUST acknowledge that we have a problem?! No. Just tweets about jumping puzzles and how the new Lion’s Arch is awesome because they had a gay wedding on blackgate (as if the female armors weren’t degrading enough. But that is an entirely different subject).

NO I will not be held responsible, nor my server, for what is basically a massive organised assassination. And I will invite everyone that tries to tell me I’m part of the problem to go kitten themselves.

I’m not a volunteer, I don’t work for any of the above mentioned or even know any of them. I do know a bunch from your server packed up and moved off. Some were helped to do so. So who’s fault is that?

A wild mod appears.
Mod uses message deletion.
It’s very effective.

People are free to move Kamara that is their choice and should never be questioned. What’s being questioned here is the lack of response on the developer part to the situation that has been described countless times here.

Since there is a such a big migratory flux, then Anet should first come and have a look (obvious yet highly improbable)
Then either merge us with another server or I dunno maybe lower/remove the price on server transfers towards us??

Do you think it motivates anyone to join the last empty server when they have to pay full price to transfer?
No.
Not even the “let’s be heroes and save the server” transfers are encouraged with such pricing policy.
It’s been asked over and over again. They never replied to any of our threads nor did they act

NOTHING is done to regulate their game mode when VERY easy steps could be taken.

And that is why I’m so kittened.

I just wish there was some other game with a combat system and wvw like gw2 so i could finally quit, i’ve been mad at Anet since 3 months into WvW because the issues are so godkitten obvious and yet they are unable or unwilling to do anything about them.

i fear we will look back to this day and remember the good old wvw as it is now – Jan 2015
