Suggestion for Perma-Stealth (from a thief)
I think I mis-titled my post. I’m trying to give a suggestion to END perma-stealth :P
Maybe if attacking generated a little exhaustion too, so that they couldn’t re-stealth immediately after attacking or unleashing a combo. They don’t really un-cloak until after they attack in the first place, and I’ve been ripped apart by thieves who were never targetable for more than a split second between their attack and their re-stealth.
Well, I hope that will be taken care of with the culling fix that is (supposedly) in the works. If a character were immediately visible when stealth was dropped it would make a world of difference. I’d almost go so far as to suggest that targets should be reacquired if they haven’t targeted anything in the meantime.
The oversight to this idea is that a thief ill just use his final or near final stealth to run away, reset the fight (and his stealth exhaustion) and return for the next attempt. So tied to exhaustion needs to be an increasing movement speed penalty. That way the longer he pushes it, and uses stealth,, the less likely he is to get away to reset the fight.
I’ll be curious to see how effective the “perma-stealth” builds are once culling is fixed. I believe that to be a big part of the problem. I’m just tired of being hit by magic bullets flying through the air with no discernible source, and then eventually watching the culprit fade into view. (That fade needs to go, at least when it comes to stealth.)

They’ll never fix culling because if they did 97% of gamers would WvW in a slide show.
Even after 10yrs on the market DAoC got choppy in zerg v zerg battles.
Not bad, but how do you solve the problem of multiple thieves alternating in stealth even with the exhaustion?

Very true. The fix is to make GW2 turn based! ;-) Funny that you mention DAoC. The last time I died without seeing the theif, I thought: “At least when I got perfed in DAoC, I saw it happen!”
