Suggestion: give each account 1 free transfer
Anet welcomes that transfer money though, can you explain how this proposal actually still draws relevant income to the company while being compassionate to the new player perspective?

Do like this: “If you bought the current expac you get one free transfer” like they did with the level 80 booster. There, they get their money.
Besides, many people just farm the gold and convert to gems anyway. That’s not really money gain.

Not a chance, anet is loving all the transfers going on at the players expense. You honestly think they’d offer something free in a mode where it is the only source of profit? They say “transfer more!”.
Luckily some of the smart ones sell mats and farm to trade gold for gems. Don’t give these guys any gems till they shape up and improve wvw with an honest intention.
Right now they have it as free accounts are stuck on the server they chose, if they upgrade to HoT they get a free transfer from the purchase. You can’t even delete all your characters to get the free transfers like the paid accounts can, which is still terrible anyways especially if a player already blew their upgrade potion.
It’s a little punishing to newer players who don’t have a clue to what server they’re picking, the server list only shows wvw population status, no glicko, no actual ranks, no links, nothing on current matchup, all that needs to be sourced from outside sites.
Not that most newbs would care about any of that stuff unless they got super serious about wvw, they would only care to play with guild mates and friends in the end. Which a lot of times, you don’t connect with until you’re already in the game and already picked your server.
1 free transfer to every account might be a bit much, but I don’t think it would be a bad idea to have that level 80 upgrade that comes with HoT also throws in a free transfer.

World selection is pretty much the first thing you have to pick in a new account, even before you make a character. Problem is new players often have no idea what this affects, and they won’t know if they made the right choice until they start playing WvW later.
Also, players often join PvE guilds first, and only later find out that those guilds are not on the same world that they selected back when they created their account. So to WvW with those guilds, they are stuck having to pay gems to transfer just because they made a decision early on that they couldn’t possibly have gotten right.
Giving each account 1 free transfer would relieve some of this pressure, since you could recover from a bad world decision without paying a fine.
I’ve recommended this since the introduction of transfer costs. Everyone should get a chance to make a mistake on world choice. It would even be okay if the choice was limited to “within a month” or “20 hours of game play” or “20 hours of WvW”.
However, it probably won’t happen. There will be lots of posts about how people have been confused by this, but it’s a tiny fraction of the community and a relatively small expense. On the other hand, changing the mechanics would be a fairly large project for ANet.
So, my recommendation is to submit a support ticket and nicely ask for it to be escalated until someone who has been with ANet for a while can take a look. In most cases, ANet will still say ‘no’, but in a few, they might facilitate the transfer, especially if someone misunderstood which world their friends had told them to choose.
It will be better if they remove mandatory world choosing and let new players choose at a later time, like when they want to enter wvw.

That would also work.
Although, I imagine it’s a harder to change to make, since the game currently expects everyone to have a default world.
One way to do this might be to create a New Player Only world that is hidden from the guesting/world transfer window. Every new player is placed into this world at account creation. When upgrading to Paid (from free) or entering WvW for the first time, the player is asked to choose from the list of the other worlds.
Picking the world late seems to be a less optimal solution to me. For instance, you might find that you are on a troll-ish world, and you don’t want to play that way. Or perhaps you are a troll and want to be on a troll world Or maybe the world just doesn’t have a lot of people in your timezone, the fights are too big/small, etc…
The free transfer is essentially a “try before you buy” option.
the issue with having a free transfer token is equivalent to a time bomb, unless that free transfer token has a expiry time. this is because if the ppl like that server for the time being and stay there for awhile but a few months later or a year later or whatever timeline, some major event happen and caused guilds or individuals to move. the free transfer token will become a encouragement to bandwagon which by then we will have another round of servers unbalance issue.

You get that free transfer if you switch from free account to paid account.
It already is there and I guess it’s pretty common that people get a free account before buying the game nowadays.
