[Suggestion] making roaming more meaningful
1-A keep and the two camps feeding into it generate 101 PPT. 5 for each camp, 25 for the keep and 33 per camp for the yaks that travel each tick. In other words, flipping all of the camps for a keep reduces it’s PPT value to 25%—It’s even more extreme of a drop for a tower. The mechanic you’re suggesting has been in the game since HoT dropped but it was never communicated to players in-game so, of course, they don’t realize how much of an impact they’re having.
2-That would see more use by everyone but roamers. There’s no way to restrict it either…nor does it really seem necessary since ballistas are already so cheap.
3-I don’t think this would make roaming more meaningful, necessarily, but it is almost a workable idea. I don’t like the kind of behavior that it promotes, though, and imagine it would see more use with gank squads (parties or just running squadless) than roamers.

Turn the wasted middle of the maps (where the oasis event was) into a dueling arena!
Where equal numbered small fights 1v1, 2v2 etc Verse each other, winners gets points for their server?
That way smaller numbers can feel contributory.
Larger groups have the entire of the rest of the maps.
IDK just bouncing ideas, but think that would be fun!
Hate to say it but “Roaming” is a CHOICE. It has always been high risk, little reward. If you want small fights go to SPVP, stop demanding recognition for a game mode that is fundamentally useless to WvW outside of scouting, Yak killing and the occasional camp flip that is more efficiently done by a havoc squad.
This “Lone Wolf” in WvW is useful from time to time, but hardly important.
everyone has a purpose in life and so do roamers….
rip sia…
you’ll always be remembered as the best roamer there is

The value of a roamer is higher the lower the tier of server you are on. As you get up into the servers that can fill maps and can afford to camp out out supply camps or flip the same with teams of ten on a regular basis there less value to that lone wolf.
If servers indeed merged the solo roamers role will once more diminish.

And anet wants to kill us, they never will. We will continue to harass your zergs till the game dies

Spoken like someone who has never been outside of T3…
Clearly you haven’t visited the deserted borderlands, or the empty battle grounds of the lower tiers where roaming is the only option of WvW.
Nothing that’ll effect the points, but bigger rewards for something captured with less people? Maybe instead of that 12 copper, it’ll increase to 15 18 or do indare say 20?
Sarcasm aside, maybe that’ll encourage people to go in smaller groups, making the map more busy instead of just zerging in 1 big blob

If you tie a roamers value to just solo flipping then you pretty much saying that a roamer only have value doing PvE. Thats easy mode. Roaming is so much more and its not always solo. The role may be more valuable when put against PPT in lower tiers, but the importance of the role does not diminish as it goes up. Quite the contrary, the ability to suppress the enemy by contesting/backcapping and tying down or identifying larger forces become far more important.

A roamer can take a camp against one or two. A roamer is quite useless when there 5 guys in a camp. This might change as populations equalized but the blob servers will in fact park people in camps to look for roamers just because they are bored. You will notice this a lot more when your server outnumbered on every borderland. Indeed sometimes the only way you can get those people to leave the camps is to stop trying to flip them.
As to scouting it helps but is no where as helpful as it once was. The guards on the map act as scouts as they will pip up enemy players. In fact roamers that focus on flipping those guards can help their servers as much as the ones flipping camps. A simple glance at the map can give great detail as to the size of an enemy force nearing those guards without having to have a person there to see them. At the same time enemy guards will pip you up on the map which not always helpful.
Roaming is my preferred style of play either alone or in small groups of 3 or 4. from my experience what you can accomplish as a roamer in real terms changes as populations on the map change. On reset nights when the lands tend to be flooded with peoples it is much harder for the roaming types to operate. This evidenced by the fact so many that like to roam will drop from higher tiers to lower for that experience.
Sorry you feel your efforts are not appreciated.
1 – Sviel addressed this very well. Stopping those dolyaks amounts a lot of points already.
2 – Don’t just randomly destroy defensive siege. Collaborate with a zerg commander and your efforts will not go unnoticed.
3 – This could be a fun mechanism. Or it could lead to toxic perma-stealth upscaled camping at spawn exit. Or exploited by zergs blowing up single targets and having a dedicated stomper to finish them.
Roaming would be more valued if it was more pronounced. The score window only displays how many PPT objectives teams hold and the total team scores. If only killed/escorted dolyaks, killed sentries, stomped enemies were also displayed along with some leaderboards…
Scout reports are something you can do to promote yourself right now. Check who are the commanders online and keep feeding them accurate information about enemy activities.
For those who don’t like to type a lot, I’ve also suggested some kind of marked tool for scouts.
This won’t hurt [Much]
Ring of Fire
I see a lot of roamers that get frustrated as they don’t feel like they influence the match-ups most, even more on higher tiers.
Really? You’ve played this game 3+ years and you still don’t get that most matchups over the life of this game have been foregone conclusions due to differences in off-peak coverage and poor game design, that most sane people gave up on “winning” or PPT a long time ago, because as a points scoring competition WvW is essentially a meaningless joke not worth bothering with, that is the same for roamers, zergs, whatever.
Hence there is nothing that can be done to make roaming or anything else “meaningful” whilst the design, lack of population/coverage balance makes the entire mode meaningless in respect to score.

What does matter if roamers get to add more to PPT when winning the week is a laughable accomplishment the vast majority the time?

I have to disagree with this. I’ve seen roamers effectively divide forces, create confusion, slow down enemy reinforcements with strategic taps, and turn an offensive enemy to defensive ones with just really good tactics.
The funniest thing I ever seen was when one roamer with a great pair of nike’s used themselves as bait and turned a whole zerg around, which bought them just enough time to get reenforcement. “Bravo!”
You guys (roamers) do more than you think, but many here are right about one thing. To really be effective you need to coordinate with your teams better to pull off great stunts like what I mentioned.
/hats off to you guys

uhmmm does that guy sings “Diamonds by Rihanna” while baiting?
