Now, I understand there is already another thread opened about recruitment into the Tarnished Coast server but that same thread was created months ago and is very vague on exactly what we need.

I will also be taking a different approach at recruitment. So instead of the usual rant about “my server has the most awesomesauce BBQ community ever” posts. I will bring forth a more analytical approach with raw numbers and statistical data to do the talking.

First off a little about the server Tarnished Coast. Tarnished Coast is the unofficial role playing (RP) server of Guild Wars 2. This implies that we do infact have a friendly and open atmosphere. However, you do not have to be a role player (as I am not) to enjoy the family-like relationships this server with holds.

Tarnished Coast has recently moved into tier 2. However! We are not and have not ever been a bandwagon server. This is shown by looking at the following graph:

Notice that Tarnished Coast never jumps up 3 or more positions? Instead, our position evolution has been a healthy gradual increase overtime. There is no exponential growth patterns to be found, which indicates no massive influaction of transfers to our server.

How stable is the community of Tarnished Coast? Meaning, will players jump ship if Tarnished Coast begins to lose its momentum? This brings another set of match ups in our past:

This picture depicts the final score of BG vs TC vs FA match up. As you can see, TC has had it’s moments where they have completely been dominated. Unstable servers would collapse right? People jump ship to join a better server. Well, let’s see if that happened to Tarnished Coast….

As you can see that did not happen to Tarnished Coast. Instead, we learned from that match up and improved our tactics and strategy. The community saw our mistakes and learned from it.

But wait, that only happened once….wrong again. Tarnished Coast got dominated before.

You can clearly see a slow development overtime where the server, as a whole, increases their skill levels and tactics rather than their sheer numbers.

So, as you can see Tarnished Coast is a stable but friendly server who work together to provide competition in WvW.

But as a server moves into higher and higher tiers, their 24/7 coverage begins to grow importance. This is where Tarnished Coast needs your help.

We, as a server, are looking for a guild or two, or even players, that are willing to join Tarnished Coast and help provide coverage in the following times:

4:00AM to 12:00PM Central Standard Time.

If you’re wondering what that time frame is in your time zone, I suggest googling “What is 4:00AM CST in (insert your timezone here)”.

Also, our server does have open slots available. Yes, our server is “Full” but so is every other server at certain times. I suggest checking the status every 30 minutes. This is how a lot of people that I personally know had luck joining.

The tricky part is actually getting on to our busy server. From experience with friends I recommend trying either at 11 am GMT or around midnight GMT on weekdays only. My friends have had success during that time period …. And while TC really needs bodies in the above mentioned time period, we welcome everyone and we’ll make sure you’ll find your spot in the fight so that your entry into TCs WvW is a pleasant and fun and challenging one that only makes you come back for more.

I’m using UTC/Standard times for all of these as it is way easier to communicate. If Daylight Savings Time is currently in effect in your region, add 1 hour to these times. I’d rather give a set, unchanging time bracket and allow you guys to finish the conversions for yourselves than confuse you/myself with DST.

If you’re unsure of whether or not DST is in effect where you live, then don’t worry too much about it — DST just adds 1 hour so you won’t be too far off looking at these times at face value.

I think this thread needs a bump. TC NEEDS more oceanic coverage. We are a very proud bunch and if people around those time slots are looking for a new place, they would likely enjoy the community here as well.

We have close to 5 defenders at our off peak hours though (this is how it has been around Christmas time, especially. Also, this is speaking for our borderlands map, whereas EB may have a bit more defenders, but not enough).

Sadly, our server’s “full” status is split mostly among our PvE and RP population, but in the least likelihood that we cannot somehow…‘convert’ these guys, we are wishing to find more WvW based people to make a change in our night crew. By change, I mean HUGE change. Like…superman change lol.

I think a lot of people would want to join Tarnished Coast. The real problem is the server being always full. This makes it hard for the big guilds to join. So it might help if we notify em everytime the server can be joined around these hours that we need.

Honestly I think SoR needs it too, but you guys do seem to push up a lot quicker than we do, plus you can just repaint their borderlands blue! We don’t have full map coverage to slap them BGs either…makes me sad.

Now, onto the real meat of my message. The Tarnished Coast is a wonderful server to play on. Not only is it a great server, it has an amazing community as well. We have the best of both worlds when it comes to PvE and PvP/WvW activity. Our WvW guilds are working together to organize and come together to promote further growth and success in Tier 2 and beyond.

We are looking for more recruits to join our cause and push The Tarnished Coast further up in Tier 2.

Come join us on The Coast and join a cause worth fighting for.

Thanks for taking the time to write this up. I’ve been on TC for quite a while now, but after my first guild disbanded on a different server, I spent quite a bit of September jumping around to different servers to find a good community.

I heard good things on the forums about TC, so I figured I would give it a few weeks, but I liked what I saw immediately. Then, that Blackgate match came along only a couple weeks after i joined, and, having been on a couple different servers that had to fight HoD in their prime, I thought I knew what was coming from our people, but I was thoroughly impressed with the way everyone kept fighting all week.

Honestly, if you’re looking for a WvW server that fights hard, never gives up, and where most everyone strives to work together, Tarnished Coast is the place to be.

There’s room for a few on Tarnished Coast right now at 10:34 pm EST, Saturday.

Grab your spot while you can, this is pretty rare for it to be open.

I am typically a late night gamer and just got the game to join some friends on Tarnished Coast. Sadly I have been sitting here the last hour or so trying to get onto it with no openings.

The best way to do it is to just play and check every 10m.

If you’re considering a server move, I highly recommend trying Tarnished Coast this week. We’ve recently been matched with SBI and SoR (second week with them), in one of the best match ups I’ve seen yet in WvW … All three servers are NA based, so there’s no uneven night capping. It makes for an exciting match where all parties feel like they have the manpower to fight. And what fights! Simply spectacular. Best ongoing WvW combat out there right now without any lopsided servers.

So if you want to try tier two, come on out and help fight for TC! See you soon!

Tarnished Coast is typically open for transfers right during our times of greatest need listed in the title of this post, so that makes it convenient for people.

If you are tired of getting yelled at by commanders/players and would prefer to work with a well-organized community that has proven themselves to be competitive but prefers crumpets and tea instead of player rage for breakfast then I encourage you to give us a try.

Oh Morrolan, saying stuff like that will get you mobbed .. or at the very least groped.

Indeed, we need oceanic players and I believe there are one or two guilds that are active, but if not, we have plenty of WvW guilds that would gladly have you aboard. Just enter map and shout in /team that you’re looking for a WvW guild.

I don’t think we have seen any huge guild transfers and yet Wow!, we are really benefiting from people just joining up alone or with friends! This is of course great as all our amazing wvw guilds swell and start to boil over the borderlands! I think we all know we need Oceanic for T1, but if you just want to have fun in wvw right now, this is the place to be. Noone welcomes new people to world v. world like we do and you will instantly be involved in exciting Tier 2 quality combat/tactics the moment your queue pops! See you in game!

I can’t think of any WvW guilds off the top of my head whose prime time is in that time zone, however, PiNK does have anywhere from 5-10, sometimes 15, players who are usually online and running around in WvW during then.

Our oceanic consists of night shifts of some of our major guilds (Pink ,TV and TSL) and a ragtag bunch of hardened veterans. These people (including me) have fought through ridiculous numbers outnumbered and survived day in and day out; from the likes of Crystal Desert multiple times, to BG’s terrible oceanic’s recently as well as SoS / BG and SoR when they were on the rise.

I would go on a limb and say that our oceanics although fewer in number are actually a more skilled and organized bunch than our NA counterparts :P

Tarnished Coast has the greatest wvw community I’ve ever been a part of, I transferred with some guild mates and we found something here, hard to put it into words exactly. But it truly felt almost like the entire server was part of the same guild or family, all working together.

We want to spread the love. Big guilds or No guilds, TC always works well with each other.
