This is the new direction Anet is taking things. I’ve been having a hard time accepting it myself. I’m now so tired of being kittened off that I don’t really give a kitten anymore. Got to see first hand what Turtle kittens and Dragon kittens do when you’re on the receiving end. They’re complete kitten. I’ve never seen such kitten.
It’s sad.

Edit: They should replace the airships with giant salt shakers that drop hundreds of kittens into the courtyard… everyone would actually die it’s so fluffy!

Last week and the week before that someone on NSP was spamming this thing constantly. It was really cool to see it the first few times to be honest, it looks really neat and sounds really cool.
… Then it one shots you and you figure out it has a really low cooldown and it stops being cool.

Has anyone used the Cloaking Waters upgrade yet? I’m interested in the duration of the stealth (probably minutes).

Us in T2 have been having to deal with airships for about a month now. Sure they have been a nuisance but there’s plenty of ways to counter them. Nowadays there nothing much to scoff at and smc still get’s flipped.
My guild’s still doing testing, but we’re pretty sure the strikes are static(always hit the same spot). We’ve already found a lot of spots where if you stand during the bombardment your not hit even once.
all the guild upgrades are horrible features for wvw and should be removed until its rebalanced. they are destroying wvw and honestly the reason why i barely log in these days is also that small guilds have to grind like crazy to even unlock one wvw upgrade….its stupid and the banners and all these gimmicks destroy wvw. gg

Saw it shoot inside the lord’s room, does it?
It is fun in its way (watching it the first couple of times is pretty nice) but it has shortcomings.
- there is a clear audio cue when it initiates, like air raid sirens… time to retreat for the 4ish minutes of bombing.
- I am sure it cycles though I can’t say what spots get hit at what points. I know there’s a point when 3rd floor treb platforms get hot, and the lord’s room gets hot. Makes me wonder if the 2nd floor with the nodes gets hot too (same x-y coordinates but not z). I am sure the outer courtyard looks a mess at a point, but I can’t say if there’s safe spots like by this tree, fountain, hut or what. There may be additional spots in the cycle I’m unaware of, I’ve only ever been on the “giving” end, not “receiving.” I wonder if those on the receiving end get visual cues like red circles all over the place, or is it simply chaos of maybe you’re all of a sudden getting blown up?
- due to the cooldown, a feint can draw a lever pull, which means something like a 15 minute safe period after all the fireworks end. Alternately you might notice a competitor tried to invade and got in trouble (maybe you heard the air raid siren?), so your team is well positioned to jump in right after and capitalize on the wall breach the fail-team just made, or broken gates or whatever.
- noobs, trolls or spies might pull the lever too if on public tactivation. Look at the clock and plan best use of the cooldown safe period as above, I guess.

we don’t have them written down or anything but many inward corners are not hit by the airstrikes, A good example of this is the corner to the left of the southern smc gate.
It is fun in its way (watching it the first couple of times is pretty nice) but it has shortcomings.

Everyone is only like “Dis kitten iz overpoward plz nerf or del” “getin cary m8 noob serv” and stuff instead of actually think about it.
As i said in the comments of the video, there’s a lot of “counters” to it. Even Desolation’s zerg found out how to be safe, & they’ve took SM from us at the 4th attack even if this was the FIRST time they saw this.
Stop hate, adapt yourself to the new changes. At least, Air defense have ways to counter, not the dragon banner

Except for that the airstrike seem to cause lag on the map. Was watching it on another server the other day and the map got insanely laggy, and ended as soon as the strike was over.

I like the buffs to the pve aspect of stonemist (airstrike is dumb obviously tho). The point differential isn’t that high anymore on sm and it’s the largest fortification in wvsw. I like that it’s more daunting and difficult to take from organized borderlands.
