Thank You!

I wholeheartedly agree. Some more transparency regarding what you intend to do, rather than what things you are going to change would be nice. But it is of course a huge improvement from before.
In your introduction thread I made a snide remark about how Arena Net developers say so much but still say nothing at all.
I take that back

I’ve been relentlessly critical of ANet’s communication with their player base, particularly for WvW, but I have to admit that Devon has been a refreshing change for the better. I have to agree with Gab that there is still room for improvement on the specifics, but at least there’s somebody on the other side of the door that’s willing to answer the bell.

Absolutely agree. I find the communication frank and refreshing.

That’s why the vast majority of company representatives / developers don’t say anything in the first place. You can’t say anything about “what” is going to happen because you don’t know yet. If you leak even the smallest bit you’re suddenly pigeon holed, and if you change your mind or scrap the idea later it becomes a firestorm.
Saying things like, “we’re aware this situation and looking into it” are all I need to hear, and I understand that’s really all they can say.
I was just about to make a thread like this, so yes, THANK YOU DEVON
also be careful OP your thread might get deleted for “calling out ANet employees” which is against the forum rules if you check them !

It’s nice to know someone is listening and cares what we think.
Thanks!

Your feedback is important to us. Please stay on the forums and your concerns will be addressed by the next available dev. :P
I’m glad to be making WvW better and while I’m the face of the team to you guys, don’t forget all the hard work from everyone else on the team. I’d be doing nothing without them.

Well spoken and humble. Good to see some communication happening finally. Taking a great page from Trion (Rift) imo by having better communication. The dev/player communication in that game MADE that game for me. Otherwise it’s a slightly improved version of WoW.
RIP my fair Engi and Ranger, you will be missed.
I have a feeling that Anet placed him only to focus more on communication compared to the previous dudes,
regardless, the replies are very much appreciated.. far far better than the previous guys, no offense ofcourse!
Yes, a hurray for DevonCarver. The replies and answers are awesome. Good to see my favourite aspect of the game being in good hands.

Be wary that if promises you make tend to not come true, or if they are just too long in coming, all this love from the player community will turn very, very sour.
It takes a while to build up trust, but only one incident to bring it crashing down on your head.
Regardless, The communication is really great. It’s reassuring to know that WvW is really being looked into by someone that, hopefully, is as passionate about it as we are

The trouble has been that since launch much of the action from ANet in general on key issues has been totally limited to “we’re aware of this situation and looking into it” if indeed they ever acknowledged it at all. So yeah, I need to hear more than that even if you don’t, but at least Devon gives me some hope.

What so someone from Anet is selective in responding about issues, usually ones of minor importance and he gets his own thread full of thanks.
Personally I would like to know how to get a responce from Anet about serious issues affecting the game, such as lag, the need for a new map, bringing back orbs in some format (if no new map), waypoints being used when enemies are inside a keep, rez’s affecting fully dead keep lords etc etc.
The patch was ok they fixed culling (great – should not of been an issue in the first place). So all the patch gave us was ranks with a few uninteresting wvw skills and gear from badges (finally). Don’t get me wrong the change to culling was game breaking and I like it, but lets not go overboard.
The communication from Anet regarding our (the wvw communities) concerns has a long way to go. For example LAG, LAG, LAG, is it going to be fixed? Can it be fixed? When will it be fixed. But i doubt a solid informative responce will be incoming.

I agree Offski, its nice and all to respond to player questions regarding small things, but the majority wants to know what the next step for the lag problem will be.
This is all I got from an official so far about the lag:

Hi Magnetron – I’m sorry for any frustration this issue may have caused you. Skill lag is actually a server side issue that is being looked into. Unfortunately I don’t have an ETA to provide but please be assured this is a known issue.

Of course they know its known issue, all T1 players have it lol, but we would like to know some more info.
I wonder how fast this thread end up in the cover-up section and gets ignored.

Yay whole team \o/
But that’s about the improved communication, much more than the dev input in general – seeing your and Josh’s posts all over your respective sections is SO encouraging.

It’s actually been already addressed within the forums – known, being worked on, no ETA. Use the Dev Tracker. The overall communication has much improved, with Devon and Josh being the main faces of the change (Gaile has always been VERY active and helpful, but she’s working on the technical account issues – i feel it’s something different than actually having people behind the in-game stuff talk with players).
