I wanted to emphasize how glad I am this game doesn’t have a monthly fee.

See, right now I am finding WvW rather lackluster. Mainly because I play in the early afternoon before people really start logging on, and so we have no commanders and no direction. There are simple things that would improve WvW, which I’m sure ANet is planning on adding after they revamp their system to make $$$ off of sPvP with the paid tournaments. Until then, I can just take a break and play something else, and frequently check back whenever it’s convenient without shelling out $15 for nothing.

A few additions I’d like to see:
1) Ability to see friendly players across WHOLE map (even better if across all 4 maps). One of the difficulties now is if you don’t have a commander to act as a Zerg beacon, it’s hard to tell where your friends actually are.

2) More commanders. This is just a time based thing at the moment, but I kind of wish the commander price was cheaper (maybe 50g or 25g). On larger servers I bet this isn’t a problem, but right now playing on off-peak hours means no commanders. I’m sure ANet intended commanders to be those willing to pay the $$$ to convert gems to gold to buy commander books, but not quite enough people are doing so.

3) A Broadcast command that covers all WvW zones at once. If all your queues are maxed, this isn’t such a big deal. However, if you need to concentrate forces to a certain map, a broadcast command would be great. Let’s say you and another underdog server are teaming up against the “winner”. Anyone just jumping into WvW would have no idea which map you are doing that on unless you have someone sacrificing their time by jumping around the different maps informing new players of such.

Luckily, while I wait for these things, I can go off and play other games without feeling bad since I’m not being charged extra. It’s also great knowing that even though the community is slowly dwindling right now, at any moment a patch could bring a large portion of the players back since none of them have to debate emptying their pockets to try out new content. Pure genius!

Thanks again, ANet!
