Saturday, 20:00, Gunnar’s Borderlands.
As expected, the Aurora Glade assault on Dreaming Bay finally started led by former allies intent on proving their ‘superior’ abilities. Unsure of themselves they enlisted the help of their new found friends and so it begins…..
We, an alleged ill disciplined, disorganised rag tag force of 15 people were to be crushed under the combined might of the best AG could muster. With no supply and no hope of reinforcements we set about deploying whatever meagre resources we had at our disposal.
The South gate was, as expected, the initial point of entry and slowly but surely our wall mounted siege was destroyed. The trebuchet they placed in Vale supply was heavily guarded and their numbers at the door were double our defence force.
Our only option was to withdraw to the inner walls for a last stand.
Once through the door, the enemy made their way to the South door of the inner keep with their golems and catapaults, ballistae and arrowcarts. Finally, the door was reduced to splinters and we steeled ourselves for the final push, it never came, we held and then pushed them back to the outer gates, us, a rag tag group of ‘pugs’ had pushed back the combined forces of ‘organised’ and allegedly more ‘skilled’ guilds like KISS, LoE, UNTY, VAR and the rest, 15 v 60+.
Knowing their misplaced pride was hurting, we readied ourselves for the next push, our doors in pieces and with no supply to repair it could only be a matter of time.
More trebuchets and catapaults were placed at the South door to pound our southern inner wall to dust. Once down, the hordes attempted to pour through the breach. Again and again they were pushed back. Their portal bombs failed, their huge numerical superiority failed, their non stop bombardment failed but still they pushed.
More, heavily guarded trebuchets appeared on the cliffs to the North and within 5 minutes the North inner walls were reduced to rubble. So, now with 3 walls and 1 door down surely there was no way to hold off the horde, attacks from both sides through the breaches from the ‘best’ AG could throw at us?
They came, they fought and they died. Dozens upon dozens of them, our reinforcements (all 6 of them) helped to turn the tide at the Lord’s room and finally after 2 long, frantic hours of hard battling we emerged victorious. Our enemies driven back, their siege and morale left in tatters on the battleground.
It was good to see our former allies spend so much time on our borderlands, something they did not do a lot of when they were with us
We, as a community have taken our fair share of knocks and deserters, we have seen our numbers dwindle as more and more people sought glory elsewhere. This battle was a simple reminder to all our enemies, we are Gunnar’s Hold, we do not give up, we do not surrender. Bring your numbers, your golem armies, your alleged superior tactics, we fear no one, and, when our numbers grow once more you will pay the price for your arrogance and disloyalty.
