We’re getting a WvW patch. I thought it would take at least a year, or even waiting for the next expansion to get anything new for WvW. I’ll not be complaining lest they take it back.

It’s your right to tell them what you think. You did pay for the game, you do contribute to their income even if you don’t purchase gems, by selling and buying on the market. You add content to the game by playing; You’re the content for other players, and the other way around. No player is dead weight, your opinion of no lesser value than that of anyone else. Speak up!

I’d like to thank the moderators for not deleting the thread, it’s a surprise to me given history. Perhaps one of the moderators, or a developer, can step into this thread to also clear up any potential mistakes I made by verifying what exactly we’re getting for WvW this patch? Right now it’s speculation, well founded speculation at that, but a complete confirmation would be better, and probably should have been given months ago before the hype train took off.

Orbs in their previous form won’t return because of teleport hacks. ArenaNet can’t seem to handle teleport hacks like Blizzard can.

My suggestion that I’ve mentioned before is to divide the wealth of the orb. Instead of having one person carry the whole orb, have it so upon stealing an orb it breaks into 15 pieces that must be carried individually. This would add a fun dynamic and less likely to be exploited. You could even make it so once you’ve picked up the orb you get a debuff so you can’t touch another orb piece for 10 minutes, making it very hard for the teleport exploiter from carrying multiple pieces.

Another similar alternative is to just have 30 orbs total, and 10 orbs are equivalent to the old 1 orb.

The gist is to divide it to make it less powerful for a single teleporter to exploit.

Added New abilities/wxp for progression on character so you pigeon holed on 1 character. Their excuse was that they want people to try new specs in WvW on different characters with new abilities but you can get ALL the abilities if you play WvW and level enough just like PvE skills. Got 2 characters you like for WvW 2x the grind.

No core mechanic changes that make Zerg split up & reward defense, no increase money from events in WvW, no rewards for escorting doliaks still (Give us 3-4 silver atleast and take away XP to avoid bots). Some kind of daily WvW mission like escort 2-3 doliaks kill 15-20 people, take a tower etc with different tiers that gives us money/xp/chance at rare/exotic with small chance at precursor??? Instead We ALL get to carry 5 more supply and take less damage from siege. So just assume everyone has 15 supply from now on mmmk. That’s not progression that’s just changing the amount of supply everyone in WvW can carry or reducing the damage siege does because everyone can just get all the WvW abilities as long as they play long enough…

New Weapons through Guild Missions.. ? Seriously you couldn’t add some kind of exotic armor/weapons exclusive to WvW. Instead anet makes us PvE and grind mats/mystic toilet for legendaries & fotm for ascended gear.

I know updates take time and money, but over all I am mostly disappointed as well.

Yes culling is nice. But to me fixing that is more like fixing a bug. Sure it took time and effort and ill be glad when it is gone, but to call it an update?

Also unless they fix the skill lag that came in recently Id actually vote to keep culling and undo whatever they did to cause the skill lag.

Hey we fix culling woo!! Oh did we mention we crippled every elementalist in every large scale fight?

Now I have no idea what else will be in here, and I hope it is some great stuff, but ive seen enough of their patches so far to know getting all excited is about stupid.

Also those that saying not to kitten that culling and the new progression is worth calling this the BIG WvW update…. If you don’t complain Devs will just go back to PvErs and 3-4 months from now we get another Big WvW update that removes skill lag and adds 5-10 new abilities in WvW progressing… bleh…

Bring back orbs with outmanned bonus and make it so you have to kill the keep lord to get the orb. Make the keep lord harder/unique for each keep by giving it new abilities so it takes coordination to kill him instead 11111. Add sometdifferent mechanic to make the kitten zergfest stop. Like homeworld gets a nuke ability that starts destroying enemy T3 walls etc so they lose health over time… Easier to get homeworld back harder for enemy to stay on your borderland.

Experiment ask for feedback… Don’t call fixing a issue plaguing WvW since launch (culling) a update!

I’m about done with this game, my guild has left and honestly I don’t care if they add a PVE levelling system to WvW. No one who PvP’s cares about that kind of rubbish, the things we do care about go ignored. Zergs are still favoured over any organised smaller groups and it’s just not fun anymore, for me anyway. Not to mention the 30+ people I used to regularly WvW who would now rather play other games or just do other stuff than log into GW2, I think I’m with them on this one.

4 days before the patch is released any feedback is useless.
Btw, the fix to culling itself would be enough to make this the greatest WvW patch ever.

Probably since we haven’t really had any WvW updates before…
Seriously, fixing something that should have been fixed during the betas is nothing.
I’m so disapointed to this game.

Start porting from Orr to CoF and back again, and don’t do anything else. Let me know how much golds did you get then.

My point is you can’t focus on a single activity and claim it rewards you as the whole game would.

I’m a dungeon master and I can assure you running COF over and over for gold is not fun, people do it only for gold. Get tired of hearing, ‘I make no money in wvw yet those pve guys are having the time of their lives running COF 3000 times’

For the record, fractals is pretty boring also after the first few runs, by the time you did 200-300 fractals to get all your ascended gear. I’d be as happy as anyone to be able to have fun in wvw while getting as much gold as a COF run and earning as many Ascended as fractals

This was suggested hundreds of times when they removed the orbs. I really couldn’t believe they went in favour of a complete feature removal over two fairly small changes that would fix the two problems; The balance issue it caused, and the one man teleport hackers creating too much impact.

I’m a dungeon master and I can assure you running COF over and over for gold is not fun, people do it only for gold. Get tired of hearing, ’I make no money in wvw yet those pve guys are having the time of their lives running COF 3000 times’

For the record, fractals is pretty boring also after the first few runs, by the time you did 200-300 fractals to get all your ascended gear. I’d be as happy as anyone to be able to have fun in wvw while getting as much gold as a COF run and earning as many Ascended as fractals

It would be unfair to make WvW the best source of gold suddenly. I also don’t believe anyone is asking for this, just a better balance between the income and expenses. Simply removing gold cost for upgrades would be one way to solve the biggest drain.

However, you do highlight the problem below all of it: In order to get anything done, you need to endure a boring grind which many players do not consider to be fun. GW2 manifesto comming at you.

The one issue that I wish would get addressed are the titles; not the ones they’re about to introduce but the existing ones. ie: Ultimate Dominator, Interceptor, etc. because the requirements are FAR too extreme.

I didn’t say I wanted it fixed first, I just said it’s something I WOULD like to be addressed at least at some point in the future.

I’m not sure how you’re okay with titles taking 7 years to get, because unless they had an amazing visual effect that went along with it I find them very lackluster for how much insane time is involved. I would like there to be a tiered system where you get titles along the way.

I agree with the fact that making money in Wvwvw is kinda of a joke right considering upgrades and siege equipment a solution to this would be to make so you are rewarded more depending on how much you upgrade does for that area such as how many attcks has it survive how many people have killed by it etc as siege equipment that a player is rewarded more depending on how much his upgrade /siege equipment helped attack/defend an area this would kinda like an investment

You make a profit in WvW because you don’t buy upgrades or siege equipement. You can not make a profit if you do, and even if you don’t, the level 20 blues you loot from underleveled enemies, and the level 80 grey items, really don’t do much more than cover your repair bill.

You can use badges of honor to buy rams, treb, catas etcetc … and for the repair cost: try to die less…

The fact that you think that WWW only costs money for repairs & siege make me believe that you rarely pay for upgrades…

Lately, I have found myself making completely acceptable money in WvW.

Last night was definitely a good night for me, but in ~3 hours I had made 4.5 gold. This amount of income is a lot closer to what is needed when buying siege, tower/keep upgrades, etc. Obviously not on par with dungeons, but I am ok with it personally. This is in contrast to earlier in the games life, where I would be lucky to make 1g in 6 hours of playing. I even got 3 rares last night! If I remember correctly, they changed loot tables semi-recently? Before that, even though I have 1200+ hours in the game, I could count the number of rares I had received from drops on one hand. Now, in one night, I can get the amount of rares that would have literally taken me 1k hours of playtime to get. I still havent gotten an exotic at any level (excluding map completion rewards).

Basically, I was one of the largest supporters of upping the loot, but it seems they have done this and I am happy with it.

If the WvW ranks are done similar to the speed of levelling, I will be fine with it being character specific. However, if it is closer to the WvW acheivements (like I said before), then it will be difficult to get them done on one character, much less alts.

I am really interested to see how this update pans out. Though, I feel it is just smart to wait to see it in action before making any conclusions. It may be terrible, but it may be well done. Some of anets actions have had me shaking my head, but overall, I am pretty happy with the effort they are putting into the game. It could always, always be better but in other games I have played, something like culling would have persisted for years.

All I hope is that Anet continues to do better and better with GW2, and that they dont become any more complacent and accepting of current issues.

Dunno, its certainly better than it was. I constantly put out siege, upgrades, etc. Though, I do push everyone involved to carry their share of the expense. Once I geared out my level 80s, money hasnt been too much of an issue. Though, I will concede that when you are actually gearing them up (especially with the prices as they are now on some of those runes/sigils.. kind of ridiculous), it takes a while.

I also tend to use my badges for siege, so that does save some gold. I expect you do the same though.

Pretty much, our opinions on it just differ. I was right alongside ya though a few months ago. The fact that I had only received 3/4 rares in 1k hours of playtime was too low imo. Even with RNG, it should have been weighted to balance out a bit better (and it seems they have done that). I dont think it is out of the realm of possibility that they are still tweaking it, either. While I think its fine, I certainly do not accrue any wealth really, just kind of maintain. I hear that playing the TP can earn boatloads of money, but that doesnt interest me at all. If it did, I would be playing EvE, haha. I earn enough to cover everything I need (repairs, siege, and upgrades along with food occasionally), and I am ok with that. You might not be though, and if enough agree, I have no doubt arenanet will continue adjusting it. I wouldnt be opposed to it.

As it stands though, I am just excited about the removal of culling. And hoping and praying that it doesnt make the skill lag even worse… I also look forward to the WvW ranks a great deal, despite being pretty wary on how well it was implemented. Just have to wait and see on that one.

Personally, I’m completely fine with the update, as the only thing that really irked me was culling. Also, if this update encourages more PvE players to participate in WvW then great. The more people interested in WvW the more attention it will get from Anet.

That’s the problem, though. It’s been what, 7 or 8 months since launch now? This is their first WvW update, how long do they expect their players will wait for the next one?

To me it just signals that they prefer their PvE audience, for reasons I can speculate about. I think they very much underestimated WvW potential, development cost, support cost, and player interest. I wouldn’t say the current player activity in WvW is anything what it was several months ago, but this is a product of neglect.

Anyway, we still have no developer comming in here to quickly tell the players what’s going on. This highlights the problems I already pointed out in my initial post: They let hype build up, only to let expectations down. A very simple post 2-3 months ago would have sorted this out.

Any ‘serious’ wvw player should be in a wvw guild, and any decent wvw guild should have gold to buy bp’s, or get the guild to run the JP once and inject a ton of bp’s that way.

Really, this is frustrating. You can’t interrupt the player because you can’t target him.

Yes you can. For example, Binding Blades will target stealthed characters, then you can pull them → interrupt. Or Earthquake, will knock them down even in stealth → interrupt.

I haven’t yet had a chance to test if you can connect any of the knockdown/launch weapon skills without targeting, but it should be possible, you just have to guesstimate where they are.

Back in good days, we were promissed, that WvW players can play WvW only and still achieve same gear as PVE players. That we would not be missing out on anything. This was actually said even before the release – that WvW will be selfsustaining.
It wasn’t completely true, but there were few months that at least kept things real. You could level and get geared by simply playing WvW. With badges, karma.

Then came the Ascended items. WvW players were obviously angry and we were once again promised, that they will implement ways of getting Ascended items via WvW. I think it’s been 4 months ago or more. In the meantime PVE received more ways of obtaining those items via PVE, got new stats sets, got a ways to upgrade that gear. Gear that WvW player, that is waiting patiently, cannot obtain.
This is a big contradiction to what was promised time and time again. If they’re worried about the economy, it’s already busted. And every pve player that wanted to get their pink gear already got it. Only ones that don’t are WvWers.

This won’t change for this patch or they would be boasting about it. Just like they do with heralds for some reason. Because those recent patches all represent so little they have to hype up stupid stuff like TP preview, heralds, quagan backpacks and culling fix, that was a known bug since beta’s. Ask your top guilds on the server if they care about culling fix. They won’t. If they would, they would quit the game long time ago. By now they are already used to it, but what really kitten ess them off is skill lag.

At least they had the taste to not spout nonsense about ‘next month’ anymore. I appreciate that. Better not giving any hope then breaking it.

Im pessimistic about the Culling. I dont think it means what a lot of people think it means, they are removing culling but giving the player reigns over it. You can still put culling on, and you might have to because we have no indication that the server capacities are actually upgraded.
So yay, you turn off culling and you might very likely now get slapped with an (even more) massive skilldelay. Forcing you to go back and turn culling back on.

Skill delay is imo an even bigger issue then culling anyway. I’d rather be able to actually get some shots off, even if it is at a partially invisible zerg then spamming a button over and over and seeing nothing happen at all.

-No Asc. Gear. Hopefully its added, and it kitten well should be. Its the toptier in the game, so it should be available from WvW.

-New gear has been confirmed, but this was in regard to exotic level gear as far as i could tell. Finally, is all i can say. Now if they would be so kind as to lower the absolutely rediculous badge cost, that would be nice…

-More gold! When hardcore WvW guilds are forced to PvE just to cover the costs, something is seriously wrong.
I can make in 1 dungeon run, what i make in 1 day in WvW. The net result is disasterous. As the PvE crowd pumps gold into the economy you get a thing called inflation. Prices have gone up, a lot. But im not really making all that much more from WvW.
So a WvW player is slapped extra hard, not only is he getting scrap for coin. But his coin is also less and less valueable as he cannot keep up with inflation. If i spend a day of WvW and dont actually buy siege or upgrade anything, i might be able to earn enough to buy 1 single rune. And im not talking the super fancy expensive runes either.

-More maps! I am sick and tired of essentially fighting on the same map over and over. So what if i get a different spawn point into the map, its still the same thing!
