Q:
The "N" in GWEN?
Boonstriping and condi pressure

they’re also a big damage dealer,
provide an equally, if not greater disruption than a Line of warding with their Spectral
Wall,
also,
Plague form blind-spamming,
well bombing with Death shroud crit trait.
Except for sometimes being feared off siege, I almost never see a Necro.
The reason I asked this is that I have a necro I don’t know what to do with, never found the right niche. I know they supposed to be valuable for zergs, so I’m thinking about giving it a shot.
Necro is for heavy AOE and single target dps at the same time. You take wells and the traits that make Death Shroud auto attack hit like a dump truck.
Zerk necros hit for a ton with wells. That plus their plague form gives them the ability to move in and out and apply massive damage pressure.
Most of the initial spike or bonmb comes from necros. The eles get their big spikes off a second later due to cast times.

Yeah, you don’t usually have much necros in the organized GWEN… Problably 2 or 3 at best for a 20 man group.

They are the primary reason GWEN became a model over GW (AKA Hammer Train). They can strip stability and make enemies wading through a zerg a very painful experience.
“Youre lips are movin and youre complaining about something thats wingeing.”
wells, wells ,well and wells again
corrupt boons, signet of spite, epidemic spreading the pain like a boss!
Molen Labe Female Human Necro
Devonas Rest – Black Rose Legion -CF4L
Well bombing, Boon Stripping, AoE Vuln Stacking…
Their damage out is right up there with Ele if played properly and not handled quickly.
Play against an organized guild group who knows how to use necros and you’ll find out how fast a zerg can get instantly downed if a noob commander runs into the necro’s burst. Sure m showers hurt but it’s too spread out and random. Wells are concentrated pain.
necro has the highest output of spike DPS (well bombs) and light CC (blind/chill spam)
Plague form blind (+chill on blind trait), huge damage prevention and soft CC.
Power well bombing, huge damage and boon management.
Condition aoe pressure, soft CC and damage mitigation, with basically every single skill providing at least a couple of these things.
Inherently tanky with death shroud HP pool and can easily trait for high self stability.
Sounds fantastic! Anyone got a great build they wouldn’t mind throwing my way?
this isn’t perfect but its a start.
You’ve never come across our 20 man Minion Necro zerg have you? We’ll show you the true meaning of “fear”.

Gear really needs to be changed from Rabid, since you have a power build there. Other than that, swapping Path of Midnight for Vital Persistence is a good move. Might be worth swapping from Well of Suffering to Well of Corruption. Less damage, but valuable boon conversion.
As many have already said, heavy AOE damage and debuffs. If a Necro knows what he/she is doing, they will also lay Spectral Wall infront of their zerg similarly to how a Mesmer places a Veil before enemy contact with an offending zerg, as well as blind spam with Plague form to further mitigate damage to the team.
An organized zerg doesn’t need many Necro’s to be effective. But Necro’s are also one of the few professions that wouldn’t get worse the more were present. A zerg with mostly Necro’s would be extremely powerful, where as a zerg with mostly Warriors would run out of steam pretty quickly (even if their initial attacks were very powerful.)

Necros are actually one of the classes that need to be guarded the most. You guys lack the stability and escapes to effectively escape if you get caught up from all the cc spam that is thrown around.
If the opposing group makes past your initial burst, necros will be easy picking for the hammer train if you don’t have the effective backup.

Never seen many necro’s? How about 70

Warriors are pretty much the best self contained unit as they have tons of CC, lots of condition removal, plenty of damage and loads of healing. Their only downside is a limited amount of stability but that could mitigated to some degree. A combination of shout, destroyer and banner warriors would be one of the toughest single class groups and would not run out of steam since they aren’t very reliant on cooldowns.

LOL. Crazy slideshow, I thought my youtube was lagging.
I tried it last night and had a blast! I’m sure it’ll only get better once I get some real gear (Right now for accessories, I got a L0 backpiece, one L60 blue earring and the rest L80 yellow with no upgrades. Armor’s a little better, all L80 yellow with ruby orbs).

Knights Gear instead perhaps? since this is a power build which really hinges on the death shroud crit trait
This is what I usually run with: Well-Necro build for zergs
It’s not perfect but it gets the job done. Passive life siphon, boon stripping, and might stacking. And protection on wells helps out your friendlies a lot. You can also opt in the blind/chill Well as needed.
I troll because I care
