You are mistaken. Unless your bandwidth is REALLY terrible.
They removed being able to see Invader player names a long time ago.
You can go into your settings and set the level of gear you see on your opponents. You can set it to use pre-made models/colours or set it to show what they really are wearing. The latter may affect playability depending on how powerful your PC is.

I haven’t played since august, honestly. No progression in WvW = i quit

I’m pretty sure players stats are not going to be based on kills only, probably, captured and defended buildings, yak kills and escorts, grub owning (jk), different gameplays so everyone roles em in order to increase your rank, atleast that’s what I’m hoping for haha

ZERGING CANNOT be the best way to rank up or get points. It needs to be based on points per kill etc.. A smaller group gets more points for kills etc…
Also taking keeps/towers/camps should give little or NO points.. There is already alot empty keep/tower/camp taking last thing we want is WARHAMMER 2.0.

Good decision … thank you. I’m firmly in the camp that prefers as little progression in WvW as possible, and I want content and good strategic play instead. I play basketball for the enjoyment of the competition and pursuit of being better at it, not because it’s going to earn me a better jersey or a new basketball. Same with WvW.

I hope Anet totally ignores you. Granting points purely for kills undermines all of the strategic intent in the match and is a great way to pit players on the same team against each other. If you don’t like objective-based PvP, why the hell are you in WvW in the first place?
I actually much prefer small team play over zergs, but everything should be focused on maximizing points for the server, not giving players incentives to “fight on the road” (WoW term) for individual rewards. Have you ever noticed how much ridicule and resentment is showered on players who insist on fighting at spawn points instead of trying to contribute more effectively to map capture? Now picture what it will do to team cohesiveness if half the players are trying to get kill points and half the players are trying to win the match. If you can’t imagine what that will look like, just take out a free trial subscription to Rift and play Conquest (their version of large scale three faction PvP) for a while. You will come back here with a totally different perspective. Trust me … it’s very ugly.

It has to be based on kills. PPT and Karma are already there to incentives taking points if you added ranking to that mix it would be come an even bigger ball of people running from point to point. We can not keep having stuff added to the game that makes zerging even more important. If we spread the people out you will have more action across the map and with less people to load it may even easy up on culling. Large groups have there place but they can not be the only thing going.
What people seem to miss is if you make it per kill based you will see more people defending, why? Easy if you own something people will already come to take it. No need to hunt when kills will come to you. You will see small groups defending points until the Zerg shows up then they will move on.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!
I understand cactus’s concern about the objectives.
Besides the karma, exp, and gold There would still be an incentive to take objectives because it would bring enemys there to fight. I know this is not DAOC but in that game you would go and take a keep because that let the enemy know you were there and they would come to you, now you could make lots of points fighting them and actually defending
Objective would still be hot spots where the fights would happen, especially for roaming groups.
there would still be the main force zerg taking keeps and towers, there would still be random people fighting on at the bottom of the map in the ruins tower, there would be a little of everything.
