So this hasn’t effected me personally cause it’s a video game and I don’t care what people say to me but I play on db and was running my tag last night for the first time. The amount of abuse and negative feedback blew my mind away. I have seen new tags pop up and just get slaughtered

Why does a community feel the need to belittle a new comer? The more tags and knowledge someone has the more opportunity we have to better out chances and placing higher for our server.

It’s the internet. Bullying is the norm. I don’t get it either

It’s difficult to tag up if the team chat atmosphere is hostile to start with. A few negative guys can set the tone of the BL. And if the commander caves in and responds, the trolls will latch on and have a field day.

If you wish to command, start with a small team, work the same hours everyday for a week, wipe as little as you can and kill as much as you can. Within a week or 2 you’ll have a rep for success, then the trolls will keep quiet.

If you actually know what you’re doing, just try to ignore the haters and trolls. But remember that just because you have a tag, doesn’t mean you’re always right and can’t take advice from others.

I haven’t really seen too much trolling or “bullying” towards PUG commanders on the servers I have played in. And if there has been harsh critique, the commander usually deserved it. For example PvE -commander tagging up in WvW and not knowing what the hell he’s doing.

Well given the situation Dragonbrand is in, I can see why people are getting possibly extra worked up lol.

Reset night is high pressure, even for “celeb” commanders, expectations are high so seeing a unknown tag probably dashed some hopes and they felt like taking it out on you. If they can’t be decent enough to make their point(if there’s one) without being trollish then you can safely ignore them.

Maybe its worse on the bigger servers but we dont really get a lot of comm. abuse – frankly we’re just grateful if anyone tags up (WSR). If you’ve spent a lot of time playing WVW, people get to know you in chat and if your making sensible decisions you should be fine.

Or you can ask the complainers to tag up and lead and you can learn from them. Guessing they won’t and the complaining stops…….

if its just complaints instead of constructive criticism, id say ignore them or ask them if they know a better way and tag up and do so.

I am not a pug whisperer. I lead my guild or I don’t lead unless asked. Once I tag up though I will execute and let the chips fall where they may. You won’t be a new commander forever unless you quit now. Grow a thick skin, grow a reputation for success and people will flock to you whether they are in guild or not.

Some folks will complain about commanders that try to lead the general population without success but I have posted many times before. The responsibility for success isn’t only the commanders it is shared with the other players. This isn’t the Army it is a game.
