I agree with you, 100%.
The sole reason I wanted to get auto-loot is for WvW. These masteries should be fully available in WvW to use and also to progress, locking this to PvE makes no sense. There is no place where auto-loot is more relevant than in WvW fights.
(Also since all WvW progression ability lines are so easily obtainable now, at least it will give us something else to work towards!)
I’m still salty and sitting in bed angrily thinking about this. Look, if there was technical difficulties preventing this feature from being available game wide for the HoT launch, just admit to it. Then include it in when it’s ready to go.
Please do not fracture the game playing experience further with the mastery system. When leveling up originally, it was great being able to do zone exploration, Dungeons, and WvW for experience. Fracturing our progression in game now is going to give us an unnatural and fractured experience. The only way to keep the natural fluid feeling of progression is to continue with having multiple avenues of experience. Do not break that system, it worked wonderfully. Sure, a Mastery may be specific to content, say like Golem Mastery. BUT, this is freak’n auto loot we’re talking about here and it’s useful game wide!!!
I want PvE mastery to stay in PvE and WvW direly needs new ones.

Really multiple interviews and dev posts had said specifically that WvW players would want autoloot, and also went about talking about how WvW would work with autoloot…. and then autoloot comes out… we all grind for it… and you tell us it doesn’t work and you are “looking into adding”… really… that’s hours of work based on information YOU gave us…. and I bet you didn’t even bat an eye when you decided to go back on your own word… Anet is really starting to disappoint me these days… and that isn’t something I thought would ever happen.

I know it may seem like I am being a jerk to ANet, but there is a reason I don’t let this stuff die. It is because we hold them to a higher standard… some of us hardcore loyal since bwe players base our play almost soley on the information given to us by the devs… if we can’t trust them to stay by what they say is happening and decide to change it last minute (as we saw with the “elite spec” fiasco…. thankfully they somewhat remedied that)… what do we have to go on. I mean I get that sometimes devs make a error in the way they speak, but in some cases, such as this one it is obvious that it was 100% intended for WvW and not just something they were “looking into” and I find it really sad to see our WvW maps turned so sour, participation is almost down to 0 even in my tier 1 server because WVW players would rather PVE to get our stuff because WVW is so kitten ed frustrating atm…. the maps are just too big, and too vertical and provide little to know mobility while also going about making the doors a 20 minute struggle to get through even with 3 supperior rams.. I know they wanted to make it defense sided but it is gosh darn rediculous.
Back to my original point, we have faith in what the devs say… so to see them have something broken and then play it off like it was never intended and now they have decided to “work on it” reminds me too much of some of the other lesser game developers I loathe to talk about… and I hold Anet devs.. my Arena Net… the company that I have been a fan of since gw1 and 100% loyal to… and all of my trust… to a much higher standard…

How long have WvW players asked for this? 3 years? You finally make auto loot possible and only give it to the PVE community.

Who has ever asked for auto loot? There were and are way more important things than this little quality of life feature.
This is a feature that has been asked for since the first days of wvw, with tiny bags dropping at our feet and having to press f to loot every single one of them. Later they developed a loot all option instead(like wow did), and the calls for this feature died off because I’m sure most people thought that’s as good as it was going to get.
Now we see they could have developed this feature all along and what do they do? they hide it behind a mastery in their expansion with pve access only.
Rift had an auto loot feature and that game came out before GW2, games should have been copying an awesome feature like that. Instead we get a company here who is more concern about hiding it out behind a paywall instead of a quality of life change for their game overall.
False advertisement. It was confirmed by ANet that it would work in WvW when they revealed it.

I am really pretty upset about this. And I do not believe we should have it in our WvW rank abilities. I am a casual wvwer at rank 530~ so I do not have the luxury to max out my points and get the “whatever” is left over for my autoloot. I specifically wanted autoloot so I grinded that mastery line first above all else to get that. Wvw is hard enough competing with other players then to top it off you want me to spam the f key to make sure I get my prizes? but you advertise autoloot but it doesn’t work. it is BROKEN not “something we are looking into adding” broken. its a bug.. it should have a priority. I love gw2. much better then wow. but please make your features and benefits that you advertise work like they are supposed too.

A quality of life change they want to hide behind a mastery, but don’t want to make a mastery for it in wvw. First you guys want to treat wvw like pve and now you don’t.

I agree with this… I mean they buffed the hell out of all the npc guards in the new borderlands, and lets not get started on how the new borderlands is basically a stupid jump puzzle that isn’t designed for WvW…. there is a reason nobody is in those, but edge of the mists and eternal battleground are still active… its because at least those are functional… you can’t do kitten in that sandy wasteland… too much vertical and not enough room to fight… they went overboard with their new vertical map creation…
But like you said, they want to treat us like PvE, except for when they make a mistake, then its “keep the game modes seperate”…
While I don’t WvW often, I completely understand why most players here are upset and feel lied to. Arenanet, you told us that quickloot would work in WvW and how it would work.
This just strikes me as more of the same design by committee, market by committee, “What’s in the box?!?!” reveal strategy.

(actually we never get time tables in WvW so I am being overly generous)
I didn´t read through the whole thread – but what about adding a skill to the normal WvW skills ( arrowcarts, canons, … ). Sth that is similar to the pact commander.
Mabe even that up to 33% bonus as long as you´re out of combat or such, since that would make travel much more easier especially for necros. They are running out of speed, even when they are in a zerg running around.
A new mastery for commander tag, auto loot etc… And it should be a lot of points.

I’m not the one saying it should be separate, the developer is. I personally believe the core Tyria masteries should be used anywhere.
I agree with many above, it should be crossed over. That is almost hurting players getting them into the mindset of NOT looting then forcing them to LOOT in other parts of the game. It’s not needed progression for WvW when we already have it unlocked.

Considering the pve amount on the new borderlands, this would not even be a crossover…
I don’t even see why auto loot is needed in PvE. The only mode it’d seem useful is WvW. Nothing is worse than taking an unexpected nap on the floor surrounded by bags. Not to mention the habit of picking up unexpected objects in WvW you don’t want to pick up.
Either way, a mastery system would be nice in WvW which would include an auto-loot feature.
Bah. This was the very reason that as soon as I was done getting the masteries to play through the HoT story I went straight to the autoloot mastery so I could go get the hero point scrolls in WvW and not have to worry about loosing out on loot like before. Especially since it was previously confirmed by a Dev that it was going to pick everything up, even if you were dead in WvW. I’m a bit annoyed it hasn’t been fixed to crossover yet.
The reason the auto-loot doesnt work in WvW + the new maps are the reasons ALOT of my friends aren’t playing wvw at the moment – we feel that we WvW players are not worth equal with the PvE players( I hate PvE and only play gw2 because of the WvW) and now im not playing at all – the new wvw maps are BIG & PvE maps.
If auto loot is not suppose to work in WvW then why does it seem that the rez speed is working fine there? Although mentor is disabled It does seems to me that one of the pack mastery lines is working there and that is quite misleading. If a dev could answer this query I would be interested in knowing as I cannot turn off my pack mastery to check, thanks.
I spent a full week in SW to get the mastery that was advertised to work in WvW when first announced then why the sudden backpedal when HoT goes live?

Why not just give us the PvE progression in WvW? It isnt like WvW doesnt have any PvE – its a full mixture of PvE and PvP.
Just please give us the crossover.
Let’s just hope for a crossover and that they don’t go to far overboard if they do and say have fun with mentor tags in wvw too x.x I hope they fix their stuff soon and give us quickloot :\

2. Everyone specs into that first, because nobody likes missing loot.
3. Veterans gripe about how new players don’t have useful team abilities.
4. New players gripe about not having any points for useful abilities.
5. Everybody gripes on the forums about how Autoloot should be standard in WvW.
6. Everybody on the forum gets ignored for a while.
Can we just skip all the steps above, make autoloot standard in WvW, and all be happy?
Making autoloot standard in WvW won’t wreck gameplay. If anything, it will motivate people to train PvE masteries to unlock it there; WvW’s version would be a perfect “preview” of how well it works.
Just make it standard, for everyone, without the need to spend ability points on it. Let’s all save each other some trouble.
I just spent hours grinding this autoloot mastery out so I could use it in WvW based on what I was told prior to rollout by Devs, and now it doesn’t work in WvW.

Seriously, why? If you changed your mind and want it part of WvW rank abilities, add it already. If you messed up, fit it.
I’m seriously tired of WvW being second class. It’s the only reason I play this game and it gets regularly screwed over even though its my favorite part of the game.
Don’t make us wait months for this when it was already promised. Implement the fix (in whatever way necessary) immediately.

tbh why people want auto loot so bad? pretty much every single guy in this game has binds setup either too 1 as guardian to spam 11111 + pick pick pick or ahk

WvW is where this function makes the most sense, yet, it’s not available.
Having auto loot is going to remove the distraction of running around finding loot bags, when you should be paying attention to the objective.

Why not implement some of these useful masteries in WvW through our rank up points. People that have been doing WvW for a long time have an expansive number of left over points after maxing all the WvW abilities and currently we have nothing to do with them. New WvW players can choose to max it if they so choose.
Because there’s nothing Arenanet loves more than to create yet another currency which we’ll in six months have thousands of and nothing to spend it on.
Just give us auto loot kitten . This was so wrong of you making us believe it was for WvW so we would buy HoT. You tricked us!

While they’re at it, they can give us some new wvw masteries to make up for the ones they took away/shortened. It was like what, 1410 wvw ranks before HoT to have full mastery. Now it’s 945. Should be 1945. What am I supposed to do with all these ranks now?

I like the idea of Ability line for WvW. I understand some players wouldn’t like to be forced to play PvE, and the devs are designing the Ability line.
Just please bring it, you could include in the ability line the skill to savage WvW equipment to recover the runes/sigils, if this may help.
Yup the abillity line makes the most sense to put it. It should be easy to fix fast for them.
And add a convenience ability line which gave us:
1. Armor no longer takes any dmg when you die, so you don’t have to visit the repair NPC.
2. Build templates., with gear storage.
3. The ability to mark certain items in your inventory as junk, so the next time you visit a merchant you can sell it all without having to go throug it piece by piece.
4. Another inentory for siege. If you don’t have the siege with you, you can buy it from wherever you are with the inventory. So if you hadn’t loaded the specific siege that you needed it would the flame ram area (for example) it would be greyed out. So when you take it and throw it out you simply pay for it there directly.
