The current system is thus:

Hold a tower, earn points every tick, or kill dolyaks. And of course, as many of us know, this really caters to the bigger servers with the most coverage. So if you lose to a ‘night crew’ you are screwed the rest of the match.

So, the current system of scoring needs an overhaul. Points need to be earned in different ways or different means.

Lets look at what goes on in wvw:

Roaming
Capturing points
Defending points
Fight Club
GvG

So, if we try to make objectives that are appealing to all aspects, then maybe this can work better to balance fights.

By no means am I saying my idea is correct, I am merely starting a discussion and hoping it can hit off to make wvw better.

Now, we have a bar that records the point ticks to see what bonus our who server gets. Why can’t we do the same thing for scoring? Will it be more complicated, need balancing, and fine tuning? yes, of course.

Example: Kills. Lets say that when a server earns 10,000 kills, they get 200pts added to their score.

The defending events: every time a place is defended, it earns points depending on what was defended (dolyaks being the lowest, followed by camps, towers, SM). Once that bar fills, more points added. Same can go for assaulting and capturing.

The point ticks can still happen, but this would at least give servers a better chance at earning points to try and keep up during offpeak hours.

Maybe at each objective, have a pool build up for each person killed, and that pool is divided evenly among those who are still there when the 3 minutes (or whatever it is) is up and the defense medal is awarded. So if 5 defend a tower against 15, not only would they get the wxp for killing the attackers, they would also get some every the medal is awarded. Same thing for assaulting maybe… when the Lord is killed, or while the assault is ongion, award wxp based on how many people they had to get through at the end or until the waypoint resets.

How about a bonus for being behind on the point tick? Say extra 10% wxp, 10% gold, 10% vit/tough buff? If you are earning less than 50% of the lead point tick, kick that bonus up to 25%. This would stack with any outmanned buff. You could call it the Underdog Buff. This would effectively reward people for coming out and lending a hand when needed to servers getting behind.
