The situation of WvW on Fissure of Woe
“Evil flowers steadily bloom, with an array of bloodied doom”
We have very skillfull players on FoW, no doubt about that.. And indeed, that one commander who rather just stands around in the garrison derating other people and glorifying himself, he isn’t worth mentioning (by name)..
Have to say that we have some nice battles in T9 (although we’re almost always outmanned). Ok, when Arbor starts zergballing, then it’s just roam around and recapture, and hope you can outrun the zerg when you encounter them.. But in the small battles, I’m sure, that higer tier servers can learn a lot from us..

If its a comfort to you, Arborstone’s numbers rival those of GH.

Just man up and don’t let anything enter or leave your borderlands alive.
The mob has spoken and the turrets shall be burnt at the stake.
FoWkers shall stand reunited and fight the oppressors.
This week should see the most actions aimed on our homeland; everyone is welcome to launch clever upgrades and roam the land for a fast response.
Waypoints is the priority.
On a side note, that “commander” you are refering to in this post, he may not be as bad as you thnk, he cares about FoW, he always did and i doubt he ll ever quit fighting for our server;
Leave him some “room”, try not to jump toward fast conclusions.
Seize the substance over the form – afterall we need unity.

Fissure of Woe might not have the numbers of Arborstone and others.
But even in the face of such odds, we are resilient. We keep coming back and coming back at the opposition. Determined, we stand.
For any Fissure of Woe PvE players reading this: stand with us and give WvW a try out if you’ve never done so before! There are many roles that you can play and you’ll have almost no problem slotting in to a party in WvW (PUG, guild, or otherwise)!
Help defend the home Boarderlands – learn from the many great players around you, get involved and play positively (incl. taking part in map / team chat and complimenting people when they do good things, even if plans go awry)! Play a pivotal role in advancing our cause in the Eternal Battlegrounds.
Or take my (standing) offer of a place with our roaming squads: come with us deep in to enemy territory for some guerrilla action and mayhem with [Alph] and others to demoralise our opponents, split their forces, and relieve them of their burdens (camps, towers, keeps…). We’re always happy to show new WvW players around.
Greetings to my Fissure of Woe servermates (and sorry if I’ve not had the honour of playing with you recently / at all due to being in a different timezone!).

…by always trebbing from a safe distance and teleporting back to spawn as soon as things heat up a little. Yeah, he’s quite a player. Not to mention his greatness at motivating people to fight for the home BL.
The guy is useless and considering his attitude towards other FoWers, he does more damage to the server than good. Maybe that’s one of the reasons why FoW has such a low WvW playerbase – the last thing new players need are juicy comments from a “commander” and will soon quit. We’ve all been noobs once and we all learned the mechanics of WvW through constant gameplay; you can’t expect a player to become an expert after the first 10 fights.
EDIT: and yes, I agree with you all, FoW has some excellent commanders and skilled players who know what they’re doing. But since WvW is more of a zerg fest than anything else, the server would need a couple of more dedicated WvW players/guilds to move up the tiers.

Well, consideirng we are quite some time further, well we are dried up, Balthazar would be so dissapointed as we put shame to his name. Fow is dead, people are switching servers and still are. we are currently the second to last server in the leaderboards. in the end the simply problem lies with numbers. Given I’m 2014 player I wonder what the hell happend? cause some of my friends said fow wasn’t Always like this.
Well your name is Fissure of Woe
Hey guys,
I’m a Fissure of Woe player interested in WvW. I think a big problem for our server’s WvW is the complete lack of organisation or communication, especially towards new players.
I joined GW2 a while back, and I picked this server because… well simply because I liked the name :P
Recently I have been trying to get into WvW because the concept of it really interests me. But there seem to be so many things that I am missing.
- Is there a specific time when ppl WvW? because it seems like the only time ppl are even in a map is between 6 and 8pm GMT+1.
- Which map is most frequented? EB seems to be empty always.
As I have said before our server seems to have a great lack of organisation and communication. Especially towards recruiting and helping new players. Why aren’t the experienced players trying to recruit and train new players? When I type questions in mapchat I usually only get kitten responses from puberal teenagers…. Not really the kind of people that warm me up to the gamemode.
If anyone has any tips for me, all are welcome
Or you can always recommend some different servers if FoW truly is dead, which I hope it isnt
To all kittens here kittening about FoW being dead: It’s not! For the love..
The overall player base of the game has diminished, and that is duly noted on low population servers (and thanks to the megaservers, you can only see your own population in those WvW maps).
Sirbiest: welcome to FoW.. I chose the server as well for the cool name :-)
WvW activity on our server depends a lot on the matchup that we’re in.. When we’re matched up against blobby servers, then lost of players will just stick to PvE during that week.. On the other hand, if we encounter smaller servers (yes, they exist – at least WvW wise), then all maps are nicely filled (don’t expect to see a queue before entering a map though – FoW is tier 9, not tier 1/2)
It’s true that most people do WvW in the evening, due to other obligations during the day (work, school, …). So that explains why most WvW guilds will raid during those specific evening times..
Oh, you mention lack of organisation and communiction? There is a teamspeak server for FoW, where most of the time you can find some people on.. Just introduce yourself, state your business, ask for hints, join some small raids..
Also, use map chat and ask ahead.. (and don’t mind the troll replies – trolls are everywhere unfortunately)
Nevertheless, you can always add me in your list, I’ll gladly take you out on some WvW roaming during the weekend!
Oh, any other questions? Shoot!
