There are only disincentives to doing wvwvw before you hit 80
Unfortunately this is why I am also kittened for WvW.
I no longer go into WvW and leave the spot for someone with more appropriate level/gear and therefore a better understanding of WvW tactics than me.
One day, when I have finally chosen my main class or leveled them all up to 80 (whichever comes first lol) I’ll get back to joining the Queue.
I don’t mind just being a cheer leader at this time tho,if it’s good for the fighters morale.
I’ll start around L30, simply because that’s when I have the skills on the character.
Sure, I’m ‘fodder’, but I’ll learn as much about my class being fodder even if I cannot solo a L80 in exotics, but well….. it’s justkittenfun to play.
At least it’s available and not worked into endgame. If it was available at r80, everyone would complain they want it like WAR’s and for it to be tiered so they can all join in. But that just means content being outlevelled and becoming almost unused.
It’s an option, it doesn’t have to be totally viable, just enjoyable, which it is
I’m with Xandax on starting at level 30. I just stick with support while leveling since you can survive about 100 times longer that way, and L30 combo fields are infinitely more useful than L30 dps.
I levelled my Warrior and Ranger mainly in WvW.
It’s pretty easy if you play it smart.
Either support or DPS from range, they less you get noticed the more chance of surviving you have.
Man seige equipment, raid supply camps and avoid trying to 1v1 the big guys with the massive armour.
I’ve leveled quite a bit through WvW and find that I am still quite useful. Of course, my ele was leveled through it during head start and the first few days after launch, so then everyone was on an equal footing, but my mesmer is being leveled right now and is a great asset to the team.
Vayra – Elementalist
Forkrul Assail – Mesmer
I couldnt disagree more. I leveled the vast majority of the time in WvW. I was able to contribute from the lowest level.

The problem is, it was ok if you did it when the game came out. Now there are many (Mostly?) 80s to deal with.
Teh gap is huge whereas before there was a decent mix. And its only going to get worse. Imagine being level 30 even when everyone else is 80 a few months from now.
As someone said, lvl30 combo fields > lvl 30 dps Just play to annoy your ennemies with conditions (slows, confusion etc.), it will prove to be much more helpful to your team than trying to do a third of lvl80 dps.
Please, if you’re under 80 come to play in wvw. As long as you’re not on my server, i love free kills. You can still contribute sub 80, but you’re still no substitute for one no matter how much you want to kid yourself into thinking you are.
You can also man siege equipment like a beast starting at level 1. Depending on your matchup, that could be useful.
Can you run around 1v1ing people, no probably not. You can however run around contributing to the overall campaign.
This is no different then the gear gap when you hit cap level in most other games, about the same spread. Play defensively and deal with it, learn, get better, destroy face when you get to 80.
Sub-80 players make great supply runners/wall repairers and siege weapon users whilst the beefed up 80 players are better placed on the field.
If you’re sub-80 and just following the zerg mindlessly or going out solo expecting kills. It ain’t going to happen.
Player smarter. Not harder.
I leveled 10-80 in WvW. I only got defeated twice.

Good thing they nerfed the escort exploit then…:p

No, it was mostly from wall/gate repairing whilst Castle/Keep/Tower was under attack and slaughtering people with the cannons whilst Castle/Keep/Tower was under attack.
Hardly escorted any yaks.
