They are adding a new map to WVW
Actually they are actually working on one.
They in fact are, nice try though.
It cant be april fools when they said they are adding a new map in the future that connect all 3 borderlands.
Wait now I’m confused. Can someone post some evidence of this? It’d be amazing to see less maps and more well thought out ones. It’s annoying seeing a server own all of their BL and struggling everywhere else but being able to keep a steady PPT.

Sorry … I don’t believe you. The most recent comment I’ve seen from Colin Ferguson on the subject of new maps for WvW was this one dated about a month ago. If you’ve seen something more recent, please post the link.
Interviewer: Do you plan to add new WvW maps ? If so do you have a deadline to communicate? Can we expect to see these maps for this year ?
CF: We are always looking for ways we can improve the WvW experience, and new maps certainly would be a way to do that. While we would like to add new maps to the game at some point, creating maps is our most labor intensive process and WvW maps take quite a lot more effort to build than any other type of map so we’re exploring some other avenues to create new gameplay opportunites until we have enough time to properly build and test any new maps.

To summarize what Colin is trying to tell us. Creating a map takes resources. Since wvw is the bottom of all bottom on the list of things to do, a new map will not be added any time soon.
It’s been almost 8 months. If Anet really wants to use their resources to add a map, it would have been done already. Spvp got a new map. It seems like there’s a new dungeon map and jumping puzzle every month for pve. If Anet just assigns 1 person to create a map for wvw, I am 100% sure that in 8 months, he would have it done and tested. We’re not talking 8 days or 8 weeks. It’s 8 freakin months!!!
I seriously thought that when ascended gear was released months ago, we would get ascended gear in wvw by now (the most recent wvw patch). However, adding an npc to sell ascended gear was deemed not important since more resources were needed to add features for pve. If adding 1 npc in wvw took longer than 3 months (and counting), I think adding a new map would probably take 3 years.
Now, the most recent news is that anet added 1 developer to the wvw team while removing 2 and assigning them to do other pve development. With less resources on an already small team, any wvw related feature will probably take even longer to release.
From a month or so ago:
Josh Foreman:Wow, that’s a long list, Chickenshoes. Well, I know that Tirzah is doing the new WvW map stuff (She did Hidden Garden I think) so it is SURE to be amazing.

Might be a new map (with jumping puzzles) or more jumping puzzles in existing maps.
Actually, the latest comment on new maps from Colin Johansen is dated last week, March 28th. He gave an interview to mmorpg.com that was reported like this:
There are likely going to be new and different home-maps, new map objectives, new things to do in World vs. World all around, because now that it’s gotten to the point where it’s rock-solid technically they get to decide where it grows from here. To build on that game-type and take it to a whole new level. So now they’re all coming together and deciding where to go with the system to give it a lot more variety from week to week and day to day.
So it looks like new maps aren’t going to show up right away (culling after all took 6 months to fix), but it sounds like they are a go.
I really wouldn’t expect any significant (or even insignificant) new features to wvw for ATLEAST another 6 months. If it took them months to add a few NPCs with armor that already exist to the wvw maps (which basically is just make a new NPC-ID with a list with the ITEM-IDs it needs to sell, price, and some more additional info, done), then it’ll take a lot more time to make an entire new map. Especially since making a map takes a lot more effort than adding an NPC or even the rankings.
Look how long it took them to remove the banks from the border waypoints when months before they already said they wanted to remove them…
If WvW is at the bottom of their priority list, fine, but don’t tell us you’re working on something GREAT for 7 months and then come with something that looks like 1 or 2 weeks worth of work + maybe another month testing.
Not to sound hateful or anything, I really appreciate the game and enjoy it every day, but honestly, to me it seems like you started working on the rankings in february (maybe late january), then at the end you noticed you need a little more time and delayed it to march. It honestly doesn’t look like months of work, meetings and testing included.

Quote: creating maps is our most labor intensive process
And yet endless Jump Puzzle 2 instalments are made for each event, even the newest one is just a jump puzzle thinly disguised as a platform game for 4 year olds- as can be attested by my neighbour’s 4 year old playing it after I showed it to them.
If you can design a map for an event then you can design one for wvw – oh wait, terrain without jump puzzles in it must be a lot MORE difficult to design than one with……
Would be great to get something more than hot air in interviews with ‘promises’ – it’s been 7-8 months now.
I just got an image of ANet’s dev team’s office in my head- the part time wvw dev is stuck in a corner at the bottom of the room, which looks like a vertical jump puzzle with all the other devs having fun and enjoying themselves, but the poor wvw dev has no legs and can’t come play so the other kids jump around and make fun of him.
That’s kind of what it feels like with wvw.
It looks like a Hunger Games type map… Where the 3 teams start in an area then they run to hide or kill and survive, idk… Like that beta event! (Sorry for my English)

Jumping puzzles are a lot different than huge wvw maps that need to be balanced so every team has equal opportunities on the map. Thats why the borders are copied. It’s an imbalanced map, and giving all servers the same homemap gives each server the exact same opportunities. EB is not perfectly balanced, but more than the borders.

Well due the the limitations of the engine i doubt we will get a good RvR map. Also the fact that EBG is just taking 1 high ground area, 1 low ground area, and 1 mid ground area and putting them together to form a map their is no variety in it. They couldn’t even put in the jumping puzzle with a true WvW thought process(and make it its own zone). You know making it so people could fight over the jumping puzzle and actually use it as a back entrance into each keep allowing another form of strategic planning and moving more people into the JP that actually want to fight and defend their server’s area.
BLs is even worse off in design they have cliffs that only funnel zergs into other groups of people making it so zergs are needed even more. Their is a keep that takes up about 1/8th-1/6th of the total map yet doesn’t even provide anything useful to WvW that couldn’t be done with less space. That lake as well i mean lets not take in the fact that the quaggan forces are almost completely useless and aren’t even worth holding but that is another 1/3rd of the map gone because Anet is in love with PvE static(no event in this game feels dynamic they are quests that go on with you)events.
TLDR- i don’t think Anet can design a good WvW map due to the lack of variety and the symmetrical design of the maps. Also they have spoken many times saying EBG is the biggest map they can make and that is really bad because EBG is already way to tight for RvR in its current state.
They just need to get rid of all waypoints but the one in your citadel. You die, you rezz in your homeworld and have to walk.
creating new maps might not be so easy, but why not use existing PvE maps? In my opinion it would be great to have Divinity’s Reach as a WvW map. It would also introduce a really wonderful peace of art to the WvW community. As it stands, DR (actually all major cities) is already desolate, so give it some new purpose in WvW.
This could be the place where zerg control could be exercised by giving the map a low pop limit or multiple instances per server. Say there is a pop limit of 50, but each server can run 10 instances of DR with cumulative totals. Next instance is only available if current instance is full.
You can only participate in DR WvW if your server owns a good % of your own BL and has some in EB… or something like that.
Keep the Faith (and stay out of AC fire)

Actually, what they would have to do is force all waypoints to not work while you’re alive. If you want to leave, you must return to base by either dying or walking. Logging out will keep your character at their current position (if inside a keep/gate/camp/jump puzzle, simply put player at entrance when they return) unless they’re offline for, say, an hour+, then they return to Lion’s Arch.
This would prevent players from logging out inside objectives in case they get flipped so they can easily bomb/flip it from inside and it would make it more… well… engaging. You can’t just escape super easily. Sure, you can logout, but if you’re in combat, you login dead, so, good job to you.
