Rocking Wizard Wars until this mess of a game is fixed…
Q:
Hey folks.
Seen a few saying that some Anet staff said they don`t care about WvWvW.
Thought was random rants, but seen few folk saying so.
Has anyone got a link to this interview, forum post or wtk it was?
Thanks in advance.
They care, and they care a lot. It has been made clear that WvW is “their baby” and as such are making some very exciting changes to be available in Feb. Here is but one of many interviews where they have given information regarding their plans. I just wish more people would focus on the positive, rather than just spreading negative all the time. :/

I don’t see that that says much about WvW. Their plans for Jan and Feb undoubtedly revolve around PvE rather than WvW especially with that recent interview where one gets the impression that the only addition to WvW will be character progression.
Perhaps I should have referenced this post as well: http://www.gw2gold.net/news-info.html?n=4981&c=97 In regards to the Updates of 12/12/12 and WvW break out events:
“These changes are just a small part of what the WvW team has been up to lately. As you may have already heard, we’re hard at work on some larger updates that we plan to deliver in February. We’re not quite ready to talk about the details yet but as February gets closer we’ll start to reveal more of our secrets.
Happy Wintersday and we’ll see you on the battlefield!"
Perception is reality. I believe they do care, the way any business cares about losing a single customer. But when they put the happiness of one fraction of their customer base over the rest, they are essentially saying we had to choose, and we didn’t choose you. February is a really long time away, not for perks and wvw updates, but simple issues like hacking, culling, and a fairly simplistic ranking system that does the basic minimum with little room for flexibility.
If they don’t care about WvW enough now to quickly respond and make changes, then should we assume some time in the future they will simply start caring more? Not likely. PvE Events are the priority, and for some odd reason I don’t understand, Spvp is too.
One thing we shouldn’t do, ever, is simply be quiet. The squeeky wheel does get the grease, and as an WvW enjoyer, you have every right to expect the same prompt fixes that someone who is stuck in a wall in Orr would want. When people stop complaining despite any attention, its not because they suddenly got happy, its because they left.

Their baby isn’t WvW, It’s sPvP.

I’m sorry but WvW is a feature, just like culling is a feature and to be brutally blunt, what exactly has been added since release? If anything they’ve taken away more then they’ve added.
Removal of orbs
Added more PvE content(Y-ok.)
I love GW2, I recommend it to all my friends, but at the end of the day it comes down to dollars and cents. WvW will never gain as much pure profit then sPvP and as a company they need to capitalize on that. I’m sure they care, like any other gaming company about their product, but I’m confused why you come to that conclusion.
removal of orbs is one of the best things they did for wvw. (I guess putting orbs in is a really bad decision then). outmanned could use a buff however.
6-9 more matches before a February patch hits.

No, they dont care, official post
Never saw this end up on the forums so figured I’d share ->
Interview section starts about 25 minutes in, some useful info looking ahead for all of you in there who love WvW. Don’t (or do?) miss the song at the start!
And summary (or whatever the word it is)
Cliff notes:
-So no new maps in the near future
-1 week cycles for matches will continue
-Culling is being worked on
-We have talked about population issues but don’t design for it
-Paid transfers at some point in the future, but transfers are not that big of an issue
-Progression/rewards in Feb patch
-Live scoring no time soon (via website)
-Nothing major till feb patch.
-No UI changes (raid tools etc.)
-No changes to commander systemDid I miss anything?
-Progression/rewards in Feb patch
Just that :S
Well we are often too harsh, but aNet should understand that PvP player are here for the long-term. This game will never be good gear grinding mmo, but this could be good PvP mmo.

How can you say removing is the best things for wvw? Orbs makes the match more dynamic. Without orbs now, the matches are stale with the server focusing on taking over the homeland only.
If Anet did care, instead of going for the “easy” route of fixing the orb issue which required the the least resources (removing orbs altogether), they could have implemented some of the solutions that were suggested on the forum. However, these solutions require resources (developers, programming hours, etc). Since fixing wvw is the lowest of all priorities on the list, they chose the the quick fix.
Some solutions suggested by the forum posters:
1) Swapping the buffs of outmanned and orbs.
2) Lord needs to be killed before orbs can be removed. Or the keep needs to be taken before the orbs can be removed.
-Progression/rewards in Feb patch
Just that :S
They are going to add 1 npc to sell ascended gear. There will be a new tab in the Hero profile that shows your kill:death ratio and have a ranking next to it.
WvW is their baby
