Thieves in WvW
Stealth Disruptor Trap – applies 30 seconds of Revealed.
30 seconds. 30 Seconds. 30 SECONDS of agonizingly painful Reveal of which you can merrily range away at them whilst they try and dance away. Works great especially if you’re a ranger using “Sic Em” which is another 8-10 seconds of Revealed.
Otherwise there are blocks, blinds, invulnerabilities you may have on hand depends which class you play… Or even AOEs under yourself so they land in them when they try to get near you.
What are you trying to do, play a zerg specced dd warrior vs roaming thief? If you roam spec your characters you will crush a glass cannon thief. Pretty much every class will, unless the thief is very good. Throw in some condi and you cant go wrong. On initial engagement with my roaming engie I can shoot a glass thief once with autoattack, which take about 50% of his hp on bleeding/burning. The most dangerous thieves are the ones that doesnt hurt you so bad. If you just want to laugh at them you can also bring a necro and dump everything on your feet, the thief will be dead in a second.
You need to spec something that can deal with them, keeping in mind they might be a hard counter to your class.
i.e. if I play on my staff backline tempest, im a free hk found outside of the zerg. On my mesmer roam spec its much less clear
Probably doesn’t help… what profession do you play?
Anytime a class has stealth, mobility and burst, it will require a specific build to even have a chance to fight it. You must be tanky enough to survive the attacks you cannot avoid, have enough lock down and damage to kill them before they retreat in stealth to heal up, and the patience not to engage any objectives until they’re dead, lest they follow and gank you.
In short, thieves are pretty dumb in WvW. I wouldn’t expect changes, though.

Are you sure you aren’t getting nuked by an engi or mesmer. The thief/Dare Devil is one of the least scary classes in WvW right now. If you cannot take a hit from a backstab (the only big shot from stealth), you have no chance against many of the DPS classes rolling around.
The only advantage a thief has in the game at the moment is mobility. That is it. They aren’t the best stealth class, they aren’t the biggest hitters, very little sustain and they have near zero group capability. They can be particularly dangerous in multiples but any 2v1 situation is going to be rough going for the 1 (unless it is a bunker Tempest, Scrapper, Druid, etc).
