Guild Wars 2

So at the moment I’m on Desolation server in Europe. I’m thinking of switching to Kainegg which is a USA server because I got some friends there.

Someone I know lives in the EU and is on a USA server, he gets not lag. Will this be the same for me.

Also I want to switch before it costs.

and in terms of latency issues, im in london and i play on a NA server and i have minimal lag, sure a few extra milliseconds on culling, or sometimes like 1-2 second further delay, but that is about it. i have great ping with NA.

There are several factors that determine lag.

The major factors are the speed of your data connection and the distance to the server you wish to connect to. And to a lesser degree your CPU and Video Card.

But if you consider the fact that most Asian countries play on N.A servers and they have a big pacific ocean to cross whereas E.U crosses over the Atlantic (I am talking about the data lines) then you are definitely better off.

In conclusion I think there will be some lag but I don’t think its very noticeable.

But, if you play WvW, you develop a thick skin.
All those foes, dancing, laughing, gesturing, lying on your lifeless body are easily ignored. You glance at the +ppt, and say it was worth it.

I only just started playing guild wars 2 and at the moment on desolation so I don’t think I’ll be deserting as I haven’t done anything to the server. My friends are on the kainegg though.

Play where you will have the most fun. From what I am reading it not like you are bandwagoning you just want to play with your friends. so if that is what you want go ahead and transfer.

People have developed terms like deserter, traitor, and whatnot to describe people who value winning over fun (much like people call others “try hards” or “no lifes” in other games).

Fact of the matter is, you should be playing this game for fun. If your friends are on a different server, go play with them. Don’t worry what other people say. Besides, if you’re new, no one’s going to call you that anyways- and even if they do, who cares what a very few people you will never meet think of you? Do what makes you happy.

Not sure which EU servers they are, but I know some EU servers are located in texas so you may not experince any difference

Ask your friends if they really want to stay there. If they really like it there then move there. If you all can move elsewhere try to look around. As much as Kain would like to say it I don’t see them as a stable server. But that’s my opinion. If you all want to be in the top tiers TC and FA are my favorites up there. If you want to look at I’ll call them better tiers and don’t like ques of the zergs check out Yak’s Bend, Crystal Desert, Henge of Denravi, Eredon Terrace, or Anvil Rock. I’m from Yak’s but I suggest the other servers too as they look like they’ll remain stable and maybe grow slowly and have good fights that don’t involve constant zergs. Paid transfers will be in effect soon, so I would suggest you and your friends think wisely on where you want to stay long term.
