Someone from the other servers has a troll/spy that has been spending thousands of supply, siege capping us, suiciding golems, and for all we know telling the enemy servers of all our movements. I won’t divulge the username, but really? This guy needs a ban ASAP and I don’t know why he’s still running around our servers doing this stuff and spamming our chat with nonsensical idiocy for weeks.

Pathetically, we’re still beating them out by 10k+ points. Guess siege capping spies don’t do much.

I just don’t get what kind of mass-solution you think Anet can implement that would be a catch-all fix. They already have it set so that siege not used in 30 mins disappears. Beyond that…what….should there be a kitten meter for players, or maybe something like “you’ve done too many kitteny things in the last 30 seconds, please wait at least a minute before attempting to be a kitten again”.

As for the saboteurs…hate to say but WvW isn’t a refereed game of tag in middle school where the teacher will put the mean kids in timeout because they aren’t playing “fair”. I have never sabotaged siege and I never would because that’s not my style, and I’m only half-way playing devil’s advocate. When you leave siege laying around, you are taking a risk that even a noob with good intentions will mess it up. WvW is battle and war, and sometimes the enemy uses dirty tactics. Sometimes you have a spy in your camp, or a saboteur sneaking across the lines, so to speak. Maybe I might be thinking too literally in terms of battle and war, but let’s say you’re in a battalion and you find out some saboteur has burned down your siege equipment or supply, are you going to stand on a soap-box and rally the people about how it isn’t fair and someone needs to stop those bad buys from being so bad? No, you’re going to learn from your mistakes, maybe put a guard on the stuff that matters, and think twice before you get too comfortable that you feel you can leave a valuable weapon sitting unattended.

I get it and I agree it is a problem, but trying to find a solution that is FAIR and not too totalitarian is going to be tough.

In extremely close matches and games, and in places like T1 and T2 play, victory will become eventually impossible until every single server not only has ‘coverage’ regarding troop deployment, but ‘coverage’ regarding saboteurs and spies as well that are tasked to siege cap enemies 24/7. Is that how you want to play? Make the game so unplayable that eventually EVERYONE will be required to play dirty and hire their own saboteurs to make sure no one on the map will ever be able to build siege ever again and instead stare listlessly at the hundred arrow carts in your spawn keep?

IF someone is running along and keeping them active by firing them they won’t despawn. Besides, with a busy server then who’s to say that the ram you saw 45 mins ago is the same one you are seeing now?

The problem I have with this is there’s no real way to counter this. In real war, no you wouldn’t get on a soapbox and talk to the other soldiers about how unfair it is. You’d put a few guards up and shoot the guy next time he tries it. But you can’t shoot your team mates in WvW. Best thing you can do to my knowledge is jump in the golem he’s trying to run over to that 20 man zerg before he does.

I do understand. I think I made very valid points. Can you think of an effective way to actually mediate between “reasonable” and “unreasonable”? They have siege that de-spawns after inactivity, and siege caps to prevent people from going nuts with siege. They have population limits and then they have inactivity timers. You can report a person for abuse, but you cannot assume every person is guilty of whatever crime they are accused of. I should also say that I speak from the perspective of a T3 server (DB) so my perspective is limited to my own 3rd Tier problems.

Also, I fail to see how “victory will […] be impossible”…Someone always has more points than others so someone is always victorious. The enemy server is not the only one who guilty of foul-play. You speak as if you assume you don’t already have players on your side who aren’t out creating mischief in disguise as allies on the enemy server. Does that make it OK? Not necessarily, but I am sure there is foul-play in all corners, and that creates its own kind of balance, and I think balance is more important than creating new rules and restrictions every time someone finds “creative” workarounds….and for each new rule there is someone trying to break it. There is always a gray area….and so that’s my point….how do you mediate a gray area?. I guess what you mean to say is that what you perceive to be a “fair” victory will become impossible. A fair victory is a subjective concept. I am not saying that everything is hunky-dory – heck, the world would be a better place if everyone had the same exact code of ethics – but we have to be realistic when we look for solutions and implementation of said solutions.

The problem I have with this is there’s no real way to counter this. In real war, no you wouldn’t get on a soapbox and talk to the other soldiers about how unfair it is. Here is an idea/suggestion instead of a complaint: perhaps for Golems at least, enable the person who created it able to lock it from “3rd party”, or to guild only, use while they remain on that map.

Not really. Everyone had to agree to TOS and such, and one of the rules is very clear on this subject. What he does is simply a bannable offense, twice. Its both griefing and attempts at match-fixing.

The only thing missing is Anet to stop slacking and cracking the whip, and they have banned people for this already. Just, not that many.

They can’t do anything about players telling the other server about your movement. This is something that could happen outside the game(not ArenaNet’s problem). I think it is hard to prove it.

But I think they should at least remove achievements that make you use supplies. If he wastes supplies he can just say “I play the game a different way and I play it do complete the achivements and wasting supplies is the best way to complete that achivement”.

Nobody can stop it. You can’t stop him from playing the game.

If there were no achievement it would be easier to punish him.

Suiciding golems(this might be something they could ban him for – there is no achievement)… and the supply… I don’t even know why it is not possible to block others from using golems. I think it is possible for other siege weapons but not for the most expensive weapon: the golem? Isn’t this known for weeks? Clearly ArenaNet should do something here.

They can easily fix a lot of stuff by just changing some simple things in the game. And supplies should not be usable by everyone. Should be possible to restrict that in some way.

What you should be asking is why Anet has not fixed the flying hack?!

This hack been around since launch and yet last night we saw people abusing it as if they did not care if they were caught or not. We assume this is due to the fact they are using one of the free trial accounts which Anet has made available this weekend.

For a lot of us, WvW is all we play, and Anet to bury it’s head in the sand over all these bugs and hacks, well I can tell you I am getting very impatient with Anet. They need to sort it out! Ignoring it wont make the problems go away, infracting people for posting about specific people/guilds wont make it go away; the only thing that will go away will be the players when we finally get so fed up with the only part of the game we like to play being left on the sideline and us leaving GW2.

Macros, you can use them as long as they arent macros.
Remember to buy the officially endorsed GW2 Steel Series Keyboard, it supports macros!
WvW, we only care if it affects the servers we play on.

The problem, you don’t need to interact with siege to refresh them. If they are completed, they auto refresh anytime someone gets within visible range of them. Force interaction or despawn will help.

Siege that is placed should have the username of the player that dropped it attached to it. Also there should be a report option specific to WvW that you can report that player of supply/ siege sabotage and Anet could deal with it accordingly.

Not sure what you meant by this post. This was so far from where I was going with what I said lol.

The real question is reather ANet sees WvW as “PvP” gameplay which in everyone’s eyes i’m sure they do. So in that case why doesn’t the following apply to someone who siege caps us?

“While participating in Plaver-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder. This also includes disrupting other people’s game experience by not actively participating in matches in good faith, a.k.a leeching.” (From TOS)

Just food for thought, no where does the said statement indicate sPvP, simply put as “PvP gameplay”
