So, after winning 12 weeks in a row, Ehmry Bay FINALLY was able to push their way out of t5 (where we were fighting Anvil Rock and Borlis Pass for 11 weeks straight) by edging out Stormbluff Isle by 8 points just this week. Everyone involved was very happy.

Unfortunately with the new system in place, we were randomly matched up with.. you guessed it: Anvil Rock and Borlis Pass in t5! Even though that’s disheartening enough to make many of our avid WvWers stop caring, it’s not the worst part…

The worst part is involves a potential problem I had seen and posted on Reddit about on the new randomization system. While we are paired up back in t5, with two teams at approx. 200 rank points lower than us, while winning, we are losing over 40 rank points. Meanwhile Stormbluff Isle, the server we just unseated for t4, was paired up in t3 somehow with two teams 300-400 points higher than them. They’re losing by quite a bit in that matchup, but are gaining over 60 rank points… So even though we technically should have pulled ahead of them and into t4, the randomization just opened up a 100 point gap from t4 all over again!

So I know that given enough time (another 12 weeks?) the new system should begin to stabilize servers into where they’re really supposed to be point-wise. But really I’m just worried that similar runs of really bad luck could have Ehmry Bay continually fighting servers so far lower-ranked than us, again and again, until no matter how many times we win, we just keep losing points until we’re in t8.

Because that’s actually possible.

Ratings are always drastically off right after reset. give it a few more days and the ratings will stabilize to a more “normal” number. (ie: you wont be losing so many, and sbi wont be gaining so many, unless of course you guys tank your match and sbi stomps in their match)

Tanking is very possible considering how many people won’t be showing up because of it being the same match-up with different colours.

On the bright side, I just saw the new Consortium Sickle animation and I’m totally going to go buy it now!

Anet said this gonna be big change, for me this is minor change. Why? If this is a big change, then reset all the rank point, instead making new system based from old data, so the result is SAME THING!

Dont even say “stabilize the point rank for weeks” or bla bla bla, I only give you 24 hours to think and 24 more hours to change, me and my friend only give you 2 days and we wont wait for 2 months only to get new opponent in WvW.

jumped off of nsp(where we were fighting ar and bp for months) to ebay. next week after switch the server drops and we end up fighting ar and bp again. after months of fighting ar and bp again this new patch is supposed to shake things up, but it doesnt. i get to have a few MORE months fighting ar and bp. kitten this. im done son. ill be back when my servers not fighting ar and bp anymore, maybe next year? anyways good luck everyone who can actually take this kitten.

Ratings stabalize after reset because the scores stabalize (the big server in the tier does not dominate as much). That means as the week goes on, SBI will not get beaten as badly during the week which will cause their rating to increase even more.

In terms of tier 5, that means that Ebay will lose even more rating during the week because we won’t be beating the other servers as badly.

I’m not mad bout playing the same servers. I am mad about all our hard work going to waist, the last 3 months are for nothing

your complaining? our server was tier 7 and not ever in first place of tier7
now we fighting against two servers of tier 4 and we are rolfing here.

Stop complaining. After being coverage smashed for the last few weeks, SBI was hoping for some respite going down to t5 to reconsolidate.

We got Mag and DragonB. Joy. We will still fight and learn and improve.

Look at EU match on Ring of Fire server. We won previous matchup with Arborstoone and Whiteside Ridge. Arborstone were supposed to go down a tier.
But: Ring of Fire went down even that we won. And Arborstone went up even that they loose.
How can you stabilize anything with random + and – ? Look at Gandara. I know everybody want to see new opponents, but they should fight Riverside not Arborstone.
And yes I feel for you on GH. You are stomped this week because of unlucky rng. Not by your playstyle or strength.

Yeah, I definitely feel bad for you guys on SBI. Even though you guys are profiting rank-wise because of this, you’re definitely not profiting experience-wise. Then again, we’re not profiting rank OR experience-wise.

But I mean, look at this.

How this new system sucks? Look at TC and DB, DB is outmatching “easier” opponents while SBI is putting somewhat of a fight.
TC having a somewhat tougher matchup than DB, they will lose a rank to DB without even being able to defend their placement in the ladder.
How can WvW be competitive when you don’t even have the opportunity to defend your rank…

From the matchups I see, I’d say there were some adjustments on anet’s part since the randomisation range of matchups is not as bad as their example and if you look at both NA ad EU, T1 matchups are the same (besides the color). Still, adjustments or not, I still wont welcome this disgusting change that destroys competitivity of WvW.

You want diversity of matchups? make it work like a sports season with playoffs at the end.
You want the fights to be balanced, let ranks stabilise while actually allowing movement along the whole ladder, of course, based on something other than this broken rating points system.

I just wanted to say the ONE server I was excited to see go up against higher tiers was E-Bay.

I still want to see that happen, as I have much respect for the server from back when DH was fighting ya.

I guess we will just have to wait even longer… :\

I feel for you EB. I was very excited for the new match ups. We thought we’d be fighting servers more akin to our coverage. Definitely was not expecting to end up T3 against DB and Mag. It was a huge blow to us. Heck, I would love to play against EB. =)
