I got bored of our own match up in blackgate, so I went ahead and switched to other servers to see how they were doing.

You know? I really don’t mind the “SERVER A 2.000 points – SERVER B 3.500 points – SERVER C Over9000 points” anymore, it’s not like that will ever get fixed… But when I see a player from another server openly advertising their own server on the map chat of one of the defeated servers, that’s lame.

I know that may sound kind of difficult at first to understand, so I’ll just name it:

In the match up of Eredon’s Terrace – Isle of Janthir – Sea of Sorrows, a player named Archaos, from the RUIN Guild, one that belongs to Eredon’s Terrace, was in Isle of Janthir server, recruiting for Eredon’s Terrace on the Isle of Janthir server map chat.

That’s lame, but you know? I’m not gonna blame the player or the guild or whatever. I blame ArenaNet for their decision of allowing free server transfers with no cooldown for so long.

This is what happens when you make a decision like that. You get 4 top tier servers, always full, and the rest of the servers empty, or with guilds about to leave them, because they are all going to where the fun is. You get the poor matchups and the unfair fights everywhere. And you get the spamming and advertising of other servers.

Had you closed the free server transfers on the second or third day, guild wouldn’t have been able to jump on the bandwagon of victory just because they lost one of their matchups.

You should’ve closed server transfers on the second or third day. Too late now, tho. Damage has been done.

Let’s see now if your solution to this, the “could you guys go to low population servers? kthxbai” works. I doubt it.

It is much easier to complain then to actively try and make a difference.

Lol.. people/guilds that do that kind of stuff should seriously get banned or something.. is pretty much like.. exploiting a game feature that was set to be free supposedly to help the servers to balance the amount of players, but instead they’r trying to create more unbalance by calling people to transfer over.. wtf..

Second or third day is when server pops don’t have settled yet and usually the influx of new players is still ongoing. And not everybody plays the game at launch or headstart.
The sales for the game have even been on hold until last week and only now the game is starting to become available again through retailers here in my area and many shops are still waiting on the new batch from the supplier.
So a large influx could still be coming.
The whining would’ve been worse due to those having missed the opportunity to join friends and on the 4th day suddenly having to pay for a transfer when the population hasn’t settled yet. The launch period is still ongoing…
Those few rotten apples server hopping are no majority, sure it’s annoying but all things have their positives and negatives and it’s about which outweighs the other. Also WvW is not the whole game, just a part of it. It may be your focus but there’s a hell of a lot more reasons why someone would choose to transfer than just the one that’s on your mind.

Calling out the current wave of wvw jerks =/= complaining

Blaming Anet isn’t the answer though. These unethical players that will stop at nothing to win need to be called out to the community. Perhaps they aren’t violating the terms of service, but they are behaving in a way that will negatively impact the community.

I know of several guilds, including one to which I belong, that are moving from the more populated servers onto lower populated servers because the queue times are so tediously long. Without continued free transfers this could not happen.

They offer free transfers, but the only people who don’t have a disincentive to transfer are the independent/solo players. If guilds transfer, they not only have to worry about splitting their base up but they will lose all their upgrades.

Upgrades take absolutely 0 time to acquire for large guilds. You can buy influence for your guild as well.

ArenaNet really dropped the ball on this. They should have launched the game for 10 days with no WvW, then locked down transfers all together to high population servers and opened WvW up.
