Evidently I’m not that observant, but I don’t generally pay attention to this kind of change. I know there was the whole hoo-hah about the Eternal Battlegrounds puzzle and queue space, new instance was made etcetc us WvW players rejoiced. I know they made the puzzle a once a day per account thing.

What I missed was them doing the same to the borderland puzzles? I used to hop up there with my 19 characters in the wee hours of the morning when nobody was around to pick up some free siege for guild raids. I’m assuming now I can’t?

It’s going on 4am and my sleep deprived brain cannot figure out if this is an intentional change from Captain ANet, or it’s bugged, or I need to wait a certain amount of time between each opening (an hour or something.)

It’s intentional and the time you need to wait is 24h. They changed chests from one per character to one per account.

Ok so I did tkitten JP late last night around 2-3am on my Elementalist. Its now 3:20pm in the afternoon, and I could open it again on my Thief. However, when taking my Engineer after my Thief I couldn’t open it.

So this leaves two possibilities:

1. It resets after 12 hours.
2. It resets at midnight.

It is intentional. I believe it resets at midnight UTC, but I’m not sure about that. It is the case that you can loot the chests 1 time per day per account, not per 24 hours. So if you log on right before the reset, it should work fine.

I’m sorry… but is this really correct? I know it is once per account but I don’t think there is 1 fixed reset every day like with the daily achievements. I one time had the problem where I did the JP late at a day and wanted to do it the next day but earlier(the daily achievement reset between these 2 attempts). Chest appeared opened. Then I asked in the German forums and some other experienced players told me it is a 24 hours timer that exactly measuers 24 hours since the last time you opened the chest.

Like: If I opened it now I’d have to wait 24 hours to open it again… not a fixed reset in like 15 hours.

Also if I open it before the match reset at friday and then try to open it shortly after the match reset it will show closed(not opened) chest but no option to interact. I heard it was possible to open it after the match reset and he did not remember the time you opened it last and reset it then but it seems this is not possible anymore?

Match reset is at 6:00pm UTC, Devon states the JP resets at 12:00am UTC. So it wouldn’t work before and after reset. According to this, it should reset at the time time as my daily quest, I’m quite happy to test this tonight

I’ve experienced it before where I’ve done tkitten JP one day, then done it the next day (yes, after the reset – kinda difficult not to be, as an EU player), but fairly early on in the day and it hadn’t reset. It just appeared as an opened chest. I always figured after running into this problem a few times that it was a 24-hour reset as opposed to a specific-time reset.

Did JP yesterday ~11pm UK time. It’s 10pm UK time now, but the chest is still open. Not sure if I did pre or post 11pm (midnight UTC) though.

Edit:
Did one on 20th at ~8.30am. Another on 21st ~7.56am and the chest was available. Will try again in tomorrow ~7am… Looks like it resets 11pm UK time after all
