Ticket reward ratios quandary
THIS.
We on Dragonbrand managed to break into gold the week before the tourney started. (Partially because of the fall of SoR, sorry) As a “reward” for this feat, we get 275 tickets, which is 25 short of even a single mistforged weapon!
What gives?
Speaking high from SFR position, I can still feel the pain of getting less than 300 tickets… Especially given how little a person can contribute to a server. I’m not going to lie, it’s even possible to solo a keep(especially if it’s a retake from a full-stealth build thief who trails an enemy zerg), however hard it is. In that way, I believe people should be rewarded for individual feats somehow, more so than overall server performance. It’s even more logical given how a EOTM player doesn’t even really contribute. SFR EotM runner or Dragonbrand, both contribute exactly nothing to their war score, and both get completely different rewards.
Not to mention how being “gold” rewards you less than being the best of “bronze”.. It’s funny.
But now that I think of it ~ there has never been a fair system, so can we really complain?
Oh, we can complain. I just don’t really expect anything to come of it.
Honestly, what ANet needs to do is to fix this reward system. I think reward should be based on badges and around 200 tickets, and badges should be like 2000+ needed for that shiny. Up to 25 Badges should be given out for various tasks. Sentries (1), camps (3), towers (10), keeps (15), castle (25) and player kills (1). EOTM should not get as much badges (up to 5) as their contributions to WvW score is slim to none.
They probably have sights set on s3. You can get a regular weapon this time, everyone can. Those who placed higher can upgrade them now. Next season everyone will have the opportunity to upgrade what they got this time around. Higher placed servers per league will ofc have more upgraded weapons in the long run.
I think the thought behind it is to give some prestige to them. Not sure if it’s the right thing to do, but is the way it seems to be set up.
@SleepingDragon…I personally kind of agree with with everything you said up until the EotM portion. Badges are fine the way they are imo. As much as I don’t like what the EotM has become after about week 3(large karma/badge/xp/champ bag train with little to no pvp involved), I don’t think the the rewards are the biggest part of the problem, not counting for anything is.
This game already has a reputation for giving out crap rewards. Giving less isn’t the answer. Keep in mind that many farmed the jp chest on multiple toons daily before EotM and probably got more from zerg clashes than taking objectives. I know I did.
To the OP,
There are plenty of sports that have similar rewards between divisions.
Most of that is in the form of trophies. You think highschool and college teams actually get something more per division beyond more exposure perhaps when trying to go pro? When you get to the professional stage it becomes about money.
If a particular league gives out greater rewards, it’s because there’s more money involved.
Greetings friends,
So… I’ve been doing a bit of thinking, while doing a bit of drinking. Always a good combination, as any Norn will tell you. There is something that I’ve been attempting to make some sense of. I suppose, therefore, that an internet thread is the proper course of action in an attempt to put to rest my feelings of unease?
Here’s the thing… the variations in these ticket rewards are nonsensical. I could understand if the 300 ticket benchmark was received by the top 5 servers or something… but to separate it by divisions and go numerically down those divisions, it seems so bizarre to me. There is no popular sport that rewards those who finish first in division 2 and 3 the same as those first in division 1 receive. There is no popular sport where it would be possible for a 10th ranked team to be rewarded better than a 2nd through 9th ranked team.
Now…as the 18th ranked team SoR… I received the lowest possible reward… much lower than those received by the 19th and lower rankings with the exception of the lowest. On SoR, as many know, there was a mass exodus of guilds before season 2 began, and a former top 3 server fell quite low. Is it because I got “screwed” by this mass exodus because I remained loyal to my SoR brethren that I now feel this way in regards to the rewards? Or is it because the system is of terrible design? Perhaps it is through some sort of internal entitlement that the source of my problem exists, and I should seek to become a more enlightened person?
Please help me, O my brothers.
So would you want more tickets for your rank 18 server, or would you want fewer tickets for rank 19-24 servers?
And I ask this as a rank 22 server with 350 tickets.
Oh, we can complain. I just don’t really expect anything to come of it.
This. No matter what might be said on any Ready Up, Anet and NCSoft want us to pay for server transfers. It’s how they make their money, so they dangle the carrot in front of a few servers and profit from silly players who seem to like Q-times on overloaded servers.
I feel like server transferring now to [ET], but they still want 1000 gems.
…
I totally agree with OP. I think servers of the gold league should earn more than the servers of silver, and so on… Considering that 200 tickets is a really cheap reward, it should be for the last server of the last league. Or maybe just add something specific for the gold league, and something else for silver, …
But I must admit that maybe I’m not very objective : I’m from Augury Rock, and I’m still upset that Gandara just lost on purpose some MU in order to fall on silver league, letting us on the gold league we clearly don’t belong to. I’m pretty sure this wouldn’t happen if rewards were better for gold league (It just ruined the all tournament for us, and I assume it ruined the silver league as well)

SoR was stuck for three to four months in match-ups they got steamrolled in, quite a few of those was the “feat” of being stomped by DB. And you want some sort of reward for that?
